Dear Dave from Teesside, Many thanks for taking the plunge and joining us at the Green Park - your very generous comments are a great boost to us all ! Your review was a great start to the morning, as well as the sight of a busy red squirrel running about the putting green. A tiny wee thing but one full of so much energy. We hope that the rest of your holiday was a great success and we would be delighted to welcome you again. Best regards, Alistair

It is a few years since I have had the pleasure of staying at The Green Park Hotel and on this occasion it was a birthday treat from my daughter, The hotel was as I remembered it with stunning views, excellent service, spotlessly clean rooms and an impressive selection of artwork around the corridors and public rooms. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the breakfast buffet selection has to be the best I have had in any hotel. The civilised pre-dinner sherry in the lounge allows you to choose at leisure from the menu and orders are taken once seated at a table of your choice in the bright dining room. The hotel gardens in early September were bright and colourful, the lawns beautifully manicured and there are several seats in strategic positions for those who wish to sit and admire the view or read a book. For those who require them the hotel also offers the use of motorised wheelchairs. Dogs are welcome and catered for. The general atmosphere is restful and relaxing and various courses are run during the year, as well as offers of transport and theatre tickets for those interested.

Dear 25traveller25, Many thanks from us all for returning to Pitlochry and the Green Park, and great to read that your birthday stay was a success. Your supportive comments are a real shot in the arm. Here it is a beautiful morning. My first executive job in the early hours is to clean any bird pooh off the outside tables and chairs, but even after all of these years you cannot help but take in the view over Loch Faskally towards the hills. We counrt ourselves very lucky to be based in such a location. Thanks again for taking the trip up from Stirling and we look forward to welcoming you again. Best regards, Alistair

Often “old fashioned” and “traditional” is used as a negative but at the Green Park this is a compliment of the highest order. Many family members have raved about the hotel but this was the first time my husband and I had stayed. Suffice to say I hope we are still coming in 20 or 30 years like many of the other guests too! I can see why this hotel achieves something many don’t in modern times- almost full occupancy all year round and a loyal and long serving staff. It is old school Scottish hospitality at its best- wonderful food, beautiful setting and, without exception, genuine friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, rooms and common areas extremely well appointed and lots of great touches like sherry before dinner and homemade shortbread and coffee post dinner. The tempting home baking in the afternoon was a treat too albeit completely unnecessary after their hearty and delicious breakfast (and in our case lunch as there on the WW2 film break).
Alistair and his team run a very tight ship and consistency of quality service is apparent with no one looking like they were new to the job or in need of training! The quality of the food and presentation was excellent and it truly is a gem.
We throughly enjoyed the WW2 film break too with a great tutor in Ian and a super friendly group to share the 4 days with. I would give it 6 stars if I could and from someone who is super fussy this is a high accolade!

Dear katie26, Many thanks for taking the plunge and joining us at the Green Park - and wow ! - what a review. We always set out to do our best, but you are really tempting fate granting us so many kind comments. Our next dinner service will no doubt rival the bold Basil and Fawlty Towers. Ian really does run a fascinating break and it only goes to show that 'fake news' is hardly a new inovation. We are lucky to have him and he is back for a second go from this Thursday, alongside Henry ( Howarth ) the Green Parks answer for all things to do with cryptic crosswords. Thanks again for being so generous and we look forward to welcoming all four of you again. Best regards, Alistair

A beautiful hotel set in fantastic grounds. My husband booked a Saturday night stay with Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (£160 per person per night = £320 per night!!) The staff were friendly. As soon as we walked in we realised that all the residents were of a senior age which should have been advertised or have been made known prior to booking. The room 32 was spacious and we had a side view of Loch Faskally. Even the bathroom was adapted for seniors with disability aids. There was no usb points in the room and the radiator was leaking which we mentioned when leaving. There was tea/coffee facilities with cakes and biscuits in the lounge in the afternoon and pre dinner sherry! was available prior to dinner. The daily dinner menu we felt was not varied enough. I chose the lemon sole and my husband chose the steak option which was an extra £15 supplement on top!! I would have chosen the steak but I could not justify the extra payment. The food was good but not enough vegetables on the table for two people. There was no dessert that we liked so we were offered an alternative. I hardly slept due to the fact that our double bed was made up of two single beds. Breakfast was tasty but lukewarm although we were told the plates were hot. We did mention all these comments on leaving and was told that they would pass it onto management. I believe we should have received an offer off the final bill.

Dear Vacation43671805419, First things first - many thanks from us all for taking the plunge and trying out the Green Park. That said, sorry to read that we weren't really the type of destination that you were looking for. I am a little bit envious of the two of you as I am fast running out of places where I feel remotely young ! Thanks again for trying us out and we hope that your journey home was a safe one after Storm Babet. Best regards, Alistair NB - Many thanks for pointing out the lack of a USB point in your bedroom. I thought we had one in every bedroom but you are absolutely right. We will get right on it.

This hotel is ideal for the elderly and infirm - though there is nothing to stop others enjoying its excellent facilities as well. Every comfort and convenience has been thought of (a long-handled shoe horn!, a postbox in the foyer, gluten free alternatives to everything). There is a cruise ship feel, with plenty to do (books, artworks, jigsaws, binoculars to look over the loch, mobility scooters) without leaving the house and gardens (arranged into many little outdoor 'rooms' with tables and chairs), and dinner as well as breakfast included, as well as food and drink available throughout the afternoon and evening in the lounge.
We stayed in a room specially adapted for wheelchair access, with a wet room that has a bath as well as a shower, and a showering chair/commode. The room, which can be set up as a double or twin, also has an extra-large reclining chair as well as an ordinary armchair. Entry is direct from the car park, with doorstops to hold open the doors. The facilities could not be bettered.

Dear Caroline M, Many thanks from us all for choosing to try out the Green Park as a destination and delighted to read that your stay with us was a success. Room sixty one is our most 'disabled friendly' bedroom and bathroom, with particular emphasis on the bathroom facilities. Talking of room sixty one, I recently phoned Allardycke Healthcare to report a fault with the electric reclining armchair. They kindly asked me to check that I had it plugged in, thereby saving themselves a journey north from Dundee. Needless to say it wasn't plugged in. You now all have to promise not to tell Diane as I still haven't owned up yet ! Best regards, Alistair

Dear krisGlasgow, Great to welcome you back to Pitlochry and the Green Park and many thanks for going the extra mile with your lovely review. Here at the hotel the Christmas decorations are going up stage by stage. The four trees arrived late last night and are now soaking in our burn i.e. they are standing up with their base covered by the water. The branches dry out if you put them up too early, so they have about a week to go in the burn. So now you know. We hope that the two of you have a great Christmas and New Year and we look forward to welcoming you again. Best regards, Alistair

Authentic old school country hotel, from the free sherry in the lounge before dinner and the characterful writing in the menu to the warmth, and impeccable hospitality of everyone who worked there. As non-residents camping nearby they made us feel very welcome for dinner. Rare to find a place this charming.

Our first visit. At check in we were given a warm welcome and a tour of the main hotel areas on the way to our room which overlooked Loch Faskally. Binoculars are supplied for you to enjoy the views and wildlife. The room was large with lots of drawer and hanging space. The bathroom had excellent toiletries and fluffy towels. The decor of the hotel befits its country house status. There are blazing fires, comfy seating, books to peruse, games for a rainy day and a jigsaw to help finish. There are lots of walking areas nearby and it is well served by rail and bus links. The service of the staff is first class and you get the feeling that the hotel as a whole is a very well run machine with an incredible eye for detail. The jewel in the crown of the establishment is the food. From breakfast to the all day tea/coffee buffet with sweet treats to the delicious four course dinner which begins with a glass of sherry and finishes with coffee and shortbread, all food is of the highest quality and the dinner menu changes daily. The clientele is older and mainly returning guests and there a number of activity holidays on offer for those who want to take part in anything from bridge to photography.

Dear Linda, Many thanks for joining us at the Green Park and for going to the trouble of posting such a generous review. Your comments are a great lift to everyone here. Talking of here, we are busy working our way through the various activity breaks which take place at this time of year. The four night Bridge Break run by Ian and Liz ( Ross ) finishes tonight, to be followed tomorrow by Ian Garden's 'Film and History' break and Diane Jane's 'You The Jury 'break. It's nice to have the hotel full of life and activity over the winter months. We hope to welcome you back to Pitlochry and the Green Park in the future and thank you again for your kind support. Best regards, Alistair

From our last review of the Green Park Hotel to the present, the hotel has done fantastically to maintain its very high standards while incorporating Covid measures.
We have been impressed by the cleanliness throughout, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The rooms are comfortable, well serviced and provisioned, some with lovely views over Loch Faskally.
The menu is excellent and varied with new dishes each day for dinner and a wide choice of items for continental and cooked breakfast. The food is freshly prepared, delicious and well presented. There is a good provision of diabetic and gluten free desserts and cakes.
Along with complimentary tea and coffee and fruit teas, both plain water and water with cut fruit are provided in cut glass tumblers.
The Green Park Hotel provides extra touches such as umbrellas and electric buggies.
The grounds are very well cared for with features of great interest such as sculptures of otters and a red deer stag.
Inside, art works including paintings of Scottish scenes are very pleasing. The hotel has taken time and trouble to highlight the work of many artists on display.
Thank you to the staff and management of the Green Park Hotel for making our stay and time with my parents so enjoyable.

Dear RangerRo, Great to have you and your folks back at the Green Park again and you will surely get your reward in heaven for such a generous review ! Your kind comments really are very much appreciated by us all. Here at the hotel I have just completed my major executive tasks for this morning. I have emptied the dog pooh bin and have restocked the scoop-the-poop dog bag container. With great power comes great responsibility. I think i'll have a well earned rest now before facing up to the next challenge - whatever it may be. We look forward to welcoming you all again to the Green Park and thansk again for all of your support. Best regards, Alistair

Too many superlatives and reviwers will say that the title exaggerates. Not at all. The wonderful friendliness of the staff, superb food in portion sizes that suit everyone and a bedroom with views of Loch Fascally that refresh the spirit. The hotel is a masterpiece of quiet elegance in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our next stay at The Green Park is already booked!

Dear bjallen18, It was lovely to welcome you back to Pitlochry and the Green Park, and to receive such a glowing testimonial - we all must have been on our best behaviour during your stay ! Here the autumn colours keep evolving, with the view from the Sun Lounge being particularly impressive. The only two people not to appreciate the change, are the 'two Pauls' who are responsible for clearing up the fallen leaves. One minute they have a lovely clear drive, then enxt they are back to square one. God bless whoever invented the leave blower. It is great to read that you have booked to return again in 2024. We look forward to welcoming you then - and we send our best wishes for the festive season in the meantime. Best regards, Alistair
