Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was staying here as I was writing exams nearby in Ayr and needed somewhere to sleep and study for a few days. Harbour lights was great: The right price for my purposes, clean, well tended - my room was made up every day and new provision like tea and coffee supplied - the staff gave me extra tea/coffee/milk as I was in all day studying. The shared bathrooms were clean and well stocked with soap/shampoo/conditioner etc. Nice walks along the quayside nearby and plenty of options for restaurants, the harbour lights restaurant attached below to the guest house is very good. There is an ASDA/MS Food/KFC/Greggs/McD's a short walk away too if you need any fast food or stuff from a supermarket and a TESCO express a little further on. Parking is free on the road and I had no issues. One warning though, on the Thursday night I was there, there was a live band playing in the pub below, this COULD be a tad noisy for some. I had my soft earplugs in which I carry everywhere so was not really bothered,, but might be something you want to check with the hosts if this could be a problem for you. All in all, would stay again!

Lovely and clean accommodation in a great wee scenic spot! Only downside is the internet is shocking and as we couldn't work the tv without it i would have to say it could be better! Otherwise beds were comfortable and communal kitchen has everything you should need!

We stayed for two nights at the harbour lights. Myself, my wife and our two young children.
The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The facilities where equally clean and well maintained. When booking the room the owners contacted me to let me know that on the Friday night there would be live music playing till late, and as we had young children they where worried this would upset them. We where at a wedding reception till late so it wasn’t a problem, and I appreciated the heads up.
Didn’t get a chance to use the pub but it looked nice.

Two hours before my group and I were due to arrive at the apartment, the host decided to tell me that one of the rooms I had paid for was occupied. Had we not had so much trouble with traffic on the way up from the South Coast, we would have already been in the flat and occupied all of the rooms. We paid for the whole 5 bedroom apartment for the night. We were a group doing the 3 peaks challenge the following day and this was a huge inconvenience for us as we had to find alternative accommodation last minute. The host didn't even seem to understand she had done anything wrong by booking out the other room. Extremely disappointing service.

We arrived at harbour Lights unaware that it is a pub. We came back to the pub after having a meal and found VERY loud live music playing. It went on until 1.00 am and then the noise of departing drunks kept us awake for another hour. Staff were apologetic but couldn't help. Manageress later said we should have been told about the music but did not offer or give refund. Room very nice but no en-suite.

Amazing stay!!!!!!!!
We were 6 friends on a golfing holiday who took over Bonnie´s apartment.
The apartment has everything you need. It is clean and tidy with very comfortable bedrooms. The apartment is well equipped too, as every bedroom has wall mounted TV and free internet. The kitchen has everything you will need to have breakfast or cook any meal should you wish to do so.
The staff are super friendly and listen to their guests needs.
In short, the perfect place to base yourself if you find yourselves in that neck of the woods....
Many thanks for everything Bonnie!!!
