Detailed Reviews
To sum up our stay here in just one word: perfection!
Emily is extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable about the local area.
The guest house itself is like a home away from home. Our room was huge with a lovely king/super king sized bed. The bathroom was huge with a lovely free standing bath and separate, modern shower. The décor is smart and traditional but modern at the same time. So much thought has clearly gone into every little detail, down to the stag-shaped wooden tray that the coffee mugs are on, the names of the rooms reflecting Emily's favourite places on the island, the coasters supporting the local marine conservation charities on the island, the mirror cutout of Arran island hanging in the bathroom and even the perspex key fob shaped like the island. Look out of the window to enjoy the peaceful garden complete with a family of 4 red squirrels!
I'd urge anyone staying to read through the very helpful information book in the room, which Emily has filled with her recommendations for walks on the island, information about the area and the guest house. I loved her eco-friendly and sustainable approach to running the house, reflected in the products in the rooms, bathrooms and food. As far as possible, food is sourced from local suppliers.
Particular highlights are the pieces of Arran fudge tablet and the squirrel-shaped homemade shortbread in the rooms.
The breakfast is hands down, the best breakfast I've ever had at a B&B, the homemade tattie scones being by far the best part! Emily also makes her own vegan haggis, yum! Meaty options available too.
All in all, a gorgeous place to stay and definitely one to rebook when we next visit Arran!

This was our first holiday since Covid struck the country. Having missed our annual visit to Arran in 2020 we were so needing a break.
We could not have chosen a better B & B. Emily (the owner) made booking so easy and gives booking a personal touch.
We got such a warm welcome from Emily and her dog Poppy who also likes to welcome their guests.
All Covid rules were adhered to and everything was spotless - we felt completely safe.
Some really nice touches - on the "welcome tray" along with the usual teas/coffees some delicious homemade squirrel shaped shortbread and some Arran tablet.
Breakfast is excellent. A preorder form in your room on which you can order exactly what you want. It is cooked to perfection.
The wildlife garden is amazing. You could spend hours watching the Red squirrels playing up and down the ropes Emily has provided for them.
I have stayed in many B & Bs over the years but I would say this was the best yet.

Breakfast is very much something to look forward to!

Arrived at Monamore last Monday for a 2 night stay. Met by Emily who showed us to our room Glen Rosa. Absolutely spotless and without doubt the best Guest House we have ever stayed in. It was pretty obvious Emily takes enormous pride in providing the very best for her guests. Her attention to detail is outstanding, little things like a fridge in the room, binoculars and even a torch should you walk back from town after dark. Her shortbread provided in the room was absolutely delicious and her breakfast just amazing. If you are planning to visit the Isle of Arran stay in Lamlash with Emily, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Emily for a wonderful experience.

You arrive down a little gravel track, away from the bustle of Lamlash behind you and as soon as you pull up in front of Monamore you know you have chosen well. We had a lovely, smiling welcome from Emily our host who explained everything to us and showed us to our large, well equipped room. Our main window faced the rear garden. Earlier in the day I had spent 30 minutes in a squirrel hide at Brodick Castle trying to see a red squirrel with no luck but within 5 minutes in my room I had seen 3 close up - what a wonderful surprise and almost worth staying here for on its own.
Our large room had big comfortable beds, lots of space for cases, plenty of cupboards, a fridge, a large TV, fast WiFi, and all the amenities you could wish for. The large bathroom had a free standing bath and a big shower and underfloor heating. It was a very good room.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice (I recommend Emily’s home made granola and her wonderful poached eggs) in a lovely little dining room with views across the frontage to the sea in the distance.
Emily is so welcoming and so passionate about Monamore and about giving us guests a special time and that shows in the place and made our 2 night stay memorable and special. Thank you Emily and we hope to be back one day.

This is our third stay at Monamore, and it wont be our last. It is a total joy and a pleasure to stay here and be looked after so superbly by the wonderful, friendly and ever-energetic Emily who is the perfect host in every way. Her breakfasts are to die for, and all the little extra touches, once again, prove just how amazing this guesthouse is and show genuine, real hospitality delivered just as it should be. Literally everything has been thought of, from fresh milk in the room mini-fridges, chilled water, binoculars to borrow (we forgot to bring ours so thank you!), dog towels and dog treats, daily weather forecast and ferry updates in the breakfast room and books, maps and ideas all in the room packs. If you havent found the answer amongst the many resources, Emily is also a fount of knowledge on all things Arran and ready to offer advice. The plates and cutlery laid out in the breakfast room was also a lovely touch allowing us to enjoy our takeaway dinners each evening. Oh and the showers were just amazing too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to one and all. Thank you very much!

+1
Felt very safe during our stay, our room and dining room immaculately clean. We stayed in the Glenrosa room, spacious, super king bed, large beautiful bathroom with large powerful walk-in shower and separate bath. Our room had a view onto the garden, we could watch the red squirrels, rabbits and birds. Emily was the perfect host, nothing too much trouble, and very informative on walks, places to eat, attractions etc. Great choice at breakfast, and very tasty. Fridge in room, with fresh water in it, fresh milk also provided. And a lovely touch of homemade squirrel shaped shortbread, and tablet on the tea tray. Lots of personal touches that made out stay extra special. A wonderful host, hope we can come back soon!

We stayed with Emily for 4 nights at the end of July/beginning of August 2021 and it was fabulous. We stayed in Glen Rosa and our room was huge, beautifully furnished throughout with an amazing spacious bathroom. Lying in bed and watching the red squirrels and huge array of birds in the garden was a lovely relaxing way to start each day and our breakfast was always cooked to perfection and delicious. Emily was a superb host and couldn’t do enough for us. Her knowledge of the island is really great and there is a large range of maps, guides and other information available to guests, along with board games, books and dvd’s. A week before we arrived Emily sent details of local places to eat and recommended booking. Thankfully we took her advice as other guests were unfortunately unable to secure restaurant bookings having left it until they were actually in Lamlash before trying to book. Monamore is a pleasant 5/10 minute walk from the centre of Lamlash and overall proved to be a perfect base location for our time on Arran. Thank you Emily for looking after us so well - it was an absolute pleasure to stay with you at your fabulous establishment.

This is such a great find! Emily went out of her way to make us feel welcome, was friendly and remembered where we had been planning to go. She asked us on return how our day had been, recalled where we had been and was just so helpful.
The room was really comfortable, bright with great facilities and lovely touches like squirrel shortbread and tablet and coffee bags as well as T bags. She gave us fresh milk etc. Faith in Nature things in the bathroom too!
Emily was on tap if you needed anything else, was accessible and nothing was too much trouble
Breakfast was fabulous and we were never rushed.
This is a really fabulous guest house and Cordon is such a pretty lovely little place right near the beach.
I cannot fault anything about our stay here so thanks again Emily!

Unfortunately we only had a one night stay with Emily (and Poppy the black lab) on our island hopping holiday, we could easily have stayed longer.
Every thing was perfect, Emily is a natural hostess and we received a very warm welcome and her readiness to share her local knowledge to enable us to make the most of our short stay was apparent.
Our room the very clean and comfortable, with added extra touches such as home made shortbread and a fridge in which to store the fresh milk provided for the tea tray.
Especially of note is that Emily is clearly very environmentally focussed, and the guest house is subtlety run along those lines, with the inclusion of eco-friendly toiletries and details of where they could be sourced, to a full list of the local suppliers of the ingredients for the excellent breakfast, to the wildlife garden our room backed on to. The sight of red squirrels feeding within minutes of our arrival was an added bonus.
All of this in a COVID safe environment!
If we ever return to Arran we would definitely stay here again.
