From our arrival till our departure the staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the dinner and drinks menus. The food was fabulous both in taste and presentation. The atmosphere was relaxing and very welcoming. The decor is in keeping and modern with the age of the beautiful house hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
Got recommended to try the Afternoon tea at Bunchrew house hotel. We are glad we did. Service was very efficient, covid procedures were in place and easy to follow. The selection of savoury and sweet products we recieved were of very high quality and also tasted very good. We got ample coffee and tea also :) . The location off the hotel is also very picturesque down by the beauly Firth with views over to North kessock and the Kessock bridge . Would recommend a visit :)

To be quite frank, I'm surprised this hotel is (at this writing) the second-highest ranked in Inverness. My experience there, though admittedly limited to a single night, was decidedly subpar, beginning with a surprisingly standoff-ish greeting from the front desk staff – quite unusual for Scotland, period, and certainly for any four-star property. (Actually, I'm not sure they *had* a front-desk clerk working upon my arrival, despite it being in the early-evening hours: they seemed to be shuffling back and forth between the restaurant & bar throughout my check-in.) While the property's exterior & grounds are quite lovely – even during my relatively dreary December stay – I'm afraid I can't say the same about its interiors, or at least its guest rooms. My "classic" double seemed about a decade overdue for a refurbishment, if not longer: its (notably small) LCD television appeared to be of late 2000s vintage, and the bathroom was flat-out outdated, with an old-fashioned sink containing separate faucets for hot & cold water. (Almost as bad: the property apparently doesn't have a water-softening system in place. Its cold water from the tap was alarmingly milky-white, and not anything I can recall seeing in any other four-star Scottish property – even back in my days as a professional hotel critic.) It also had a small & notably cheap glass shelf for placing one's toiletries – and the one in my room was slanted, leaving it largely unusable given its location above the toilet (unless one remembers to close its lid). The room's carpet was also notably worn, and the bed was generally uncomfortable – in terms of both the mattress & surprisingly scratchy sheets, as well as the clearly poly-filled pillows (which were also quite worn out). On a brighter note, at least the hotel's wifi was up to snuff. All that said, the only reason I didn't rate it less than three stars is based on the caliber of its public rooms. It is a Baronial mansion, after all, and replete with the splendor one would expect at such a place – plus its location directly facing the sea was quite lovely (and I'm sure much more so during the summer months). Finally, while I realize these are difficult times for the hospitality industry, given the ongoing pandemic, I'm not seeing why a full guest-room refurbishment wasn't undertaken well before Covid started. It's well overdue for both modernization as well as an upgrade in caliber. (Even replacing the worn pillows & scratchy sheets would be a welcome refresher.)

Lovely visit to an outstanding venue. Fantastic in every respect, rooms, staff, dining, grounds, view, everything. The location is fantastic, right on the Beauly Firth with the Black Isle on the other side, all of a mile outside of town, a straight shot of five minutes in on the A862. It is easy to find, with signs on the road marking the entrance and a love, park-like approach road along the firth to the house. The grounds are lovely, with some magnificent old trees, wonderful, huge trees. There is ample free parking, all of twenty yards from the front door. There is a small reception parking area for loading and unloading, right at the front door. Note that there is no elevator here, so this may be a challenge for folks with mobility issues. All guest rooms are on floors 2 and 3. It is wonderfully quiet at night; you cannot hear the traffic on A862. You can hear the train as it goes by, along A862, which is a romantic and welcome sound. The wi-fi connection was good throughout the venue, strong and stable. Rooms: our first room was quite good, with a comfy king bed and a view out at the approach road. The windows opened nicely for a breeze, and the radiator heated the room well. All was clean and in order in the room and bathroom. Lighting was good. The TV needs to be a bit bigger and there should be a better range of viewing choices. The room also need USB plugs at the desk and/or at the bedsides for device charging On our third day we found a water leak into the room. They immediately offered us another room, and moved us to the Honeymoon/Loval Suite, the best room in the house. I agree completely; it was a fantastic room, very large, with a huge four-poster bed and a very large bathroom, with lots of wonderful counter space in the bathroom. The room on the second floor in a a front corner of the house, has a non-working fireplace and views out of the front and to the southwest over the water. Dining: you have two choices for dinner, bar food or fine dining, essentially with the same serving times, just in separate rooms off the main parlor, and with a modest differences in price, of course. We opted for the bar food, which was fantastic. Everything was great and the service was fantastic on every occasion. Breakfast is in the fine dining room, with a lovely view out at the firth, with standard breakfast choices. I recommend the eggs benedict. We tried the local food delivery apps but could find no app or restaurant that would deliver to this location. Staff: the staff were fantastic at every turn, in every way. Of course, this visit was In The Time of Covid, so they received our ordered test kits and helped us out with directions to the nearby post box for mailing. They were great with local directions and recommendations for dining in town—try out LaLe and Tiger on the Wall in town. They were great with servicing the room to our specifications, based on covid precautions for both us and their staff. Bottom Line: this was our first time in Scotland, and this was our hotel introduction. Everything was fantastic, better than expected. We will definitely return to this venue.

Got the smallest room in the hotel which was unfortunate however we booked the day before so understandable. Had a minor issue which the hotel resolved quickly and very satisfactorily. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel could probably do with a bit of a sprucing up however it didn’t affect our stay and we would gladly stay again. The dining experience was just that! The service was excellent and the food was absolutely amazing. I mean, absolutely amazing!! Upon our stay we decided to hold our wedding there so will get that booked in.
