We stayed in June while visiting Glasgow. The hotel has an excellent location and is close to the botanical garden, Kelvingrove station and museum and many good bars and restaurants in the west end. Our room was on the third floor and the owner himself carried up our suitcases! The room was spacious with windows you could open overlooking the trees. It is on a lane overlooking a busier street but the room was guiet with a large bathroom. We found parking right in front and they sold us the decals to park at the front desk which was much cheaper than going to a car park. There are several laundries nearby that will do your clothes while you are touring. The owner was incredibly helpful with tips on things to see in Glasgow and ways to get there easily. There is also a buffet breakfast with cold cereals, eggs, potato scones and Canadian bacon along with tea or coffee and juice. It was basic but it was nice to start the day with something to eat. We thought this was an incredible value.for the city.

We have just returned home from visiting Glasgow and stayed at the Argyll western hotel, it was absolutely spotlessly clean, very nicely decorated both downstairs and in our room which was tartan themed, it was very quiet, the breakfast was exceptional and you could have anything you wanted, full Scottish, cereal, toast, coffee or tea. Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us, very attentive. The hotel was close to botanical gardens and lots of lovely restaurants. We will definitely be staying here when we visit Glasgow again. Thankyou to all the staff for making our 4 day break brilliant.

Nice hotel with amazing staff!
As a female Solo-traveler I felt save and sound, the staff was nice and accommodated my wishes (early check-in) as best as they could.

They even let me take my ordered takeout into my room, got no complaints!

And an excellent service for the price!

We checked into this hotel expecting the room to look like the photos advertised on their website. In reality, it did not. We were booked into Room 12 which is in the basement of the hotel. The room had a damp and musty smell. The bathroom door hit the edge of one of the beds when you opened and closed it. One of the teacups had tea stains in it. The window in the bathroom did not have a curtain and although there it was frosted, you could see the hotel workers sitting across the way when they were having their break. If you were taking a shower, they could probably see into the bathroom. There was mold in the bathroom shower stall. The worst thing in this room was the large emergency LED trouble light which was about 24 inches long and so bright it lit the room up like a neon sign when you were trying to sleep.
To the hotel's credit, I talked to the owner and the maintenance person about how dissatisfied we were with the accommodation and the next morning we were switched to Room 103 on the main floor. They apologized for the inconvenience and the condition of Room 12. The room was much more spacious and the bathroom double the size. There was a large window in the room that opened on one side and the other side could be opened too but the handle to crank the window had broken and fallen onto the ground outside. The room looked out towards a lane and a row of garbage cans. There was still some mold in this shower stall but it was nowhere as bad as Room 12 in the basement.
This hotel was booked fully the whole time we were there. I think the biggest draw for this hotel is the proximity to the Byres Road which is near the Botanic Gardens. It is located in the West End, which is lined with boutique shops, bakeries, pubs, and eateries.
For the price we paid, it was definitely not worth it. I am shocked that it has had rave reviews but I guess the location trumps everything else. If you book this hotel, call them and try to avoid any rooms in the basement if you can. Also, this hotel does not have an elevator and if you have mobility issues, the stairs are quite steep.

The hotel is in a cool part of town and has a a couple good things about it - the bedding was clean and the staff was kind and helped with the luggage. Unfortunately, that’s all the nice things I can say about this hotel. First, there isn’t any free parking even close to the hotel. Closest is over 1 mile away and parking in front of the hotel is 10£ for 3 hours. Next, when I stayed there it was situated in a total construction zone. The street in front was closed, so you had to be very adventurous to get your car to the front of the hotel, since you had to meander carefully through back alleys. I needed someone walking in front of my car to guide me through the obstacles. The hotel claims this just started and they weren’t notified. However, they knew at least three days before we arrived and failed to notify us. While I agree this isn’t the hotels fault, despite the inconvenience, would not offer any refunds and instead offered me the City Councils number if I wanted to complain. After many conversations with hotel management regarding construction, distance to parking and my concern for safety of walking that far at night as we were older women, they finally agreed to cover the cost of any parking fines parking in front of the hotel.

Next, as soon as I entered my room on the ground floor, I immediately noticed a musty odor. There must be moisture issue that doesn’t get resolved. The bathroom corner grout appears to have mold. There was a crack in the ceiling. The mattresses need to be replaced. Finally, if you do stay here please bring earplugs since anyone walking in the hall or above you is very evident. I think my room was below the kitchen or dining room so as soon as they started breakfast preparation it woke me up before 6 a.m.

II would not recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for two nights as it was close by the family wedding I was attending. The best thing about the hotel is its location in the West End with loads of bars and restaurants to choose from.

The room (104) was tired and cramped and I almost knocked the tv off the wall several times as the bed gave you little room to manoeuvre. Also, the first night the tv wasn’t working but to be fair it did work after I’d reported that.

The bathroom was basic and tiny and it was almost impossible to close the door when sitting on the toilet. Luckily I was there on my own and could leave the door ajar but if I’d been sharing with someone else I’d have found that embarrassing.

The breakfast was adequate but not brilliant with not great sausages and there was no black pudding available despite the menu clearly stating there was.

So, would I stay there again? No.

I booked 4 months in advance, and we ended up getting one of the three basement rooms that are just dismal and nothing to be desired. The basement room we stayed in was dark and very musty. The view from the room looked out to a back area that was junky and it was also the staff smoking area. I had to keep the curtains closed otherwise the hotel staff could look in to our room. The bathroom was mildewy, and the shower drain was clogged. The beds and pillows were hard as rocks. The door had big gaps all around it, so the light from the hallway came into the room during the nighttime. This is the worst hotel room we have ever stayed in.

The room is very small, bed is uncomfortable and springs loose. The room is smelly .In the bathroom you can barely manage to move around no toiletries like moisturizer, shampoo etc is provided . Breakfast has a very limited choice , totally not worth value for money. Same breakfast on all the days of our stay. The management needs to look up in providing better amenities. Even for drinking water one has to go 2 floors down.

The lobby and dining room were relatively clean and in good repair but our room (Room 11) had major water damage, mold, was dirty, and smelled like cat urine. It appeared that there had been a flood that had not been remediated as the drywall behind the wallpaper had collapsed and there was mold on the wallpaper in several places. I went to the front desk to inform them that the room was dirty and smelled and was told they couldn't help. We hung out in the pub across the street to avoid the smell and then slept in our clothes because there were no rooms available nearby. Because of the state of Room 11, we didn't trust that the kitchen was any cleaner so we did not eat the cooked breakfast.

We booked 2 rooms. Our daughters were given a basement room which was musty with very poor air quality. Mattresses were very uncomfortable and pillows rock hard. Shower didn’t drain properly and toilet didn’t flush very well. The mold made my daughter sick. My husband and I were on the top floor, bed was super uncomfortable, pillows terrible. We were there for 5 nights and did not have turnover service once. Towels were cheap, thin, and worn. Woke up every morning to the smell of greasy bacon and sausage being cooked. Breakfast was terrible - watery scrambled eggs, greasy bacon sitting under covers for hours. Owner tried to bribe us with cookies to leave a good review. Sorry - but we can’t. Place did not feel clean and was not comfortable. I left getting a nasty cold from the mildew. Despite the great location, I wouldn’t stay there again.

Hi, we caught a bus from Central Station to the road next to the hotel (outside Botanical Gardens) . However, you have to have the exact money. We also walked about 5-7 minutes to the metro/underground station, which takes you into the city centre and probably also near to the Hydro. We spent more time in the area near to the hotel as we were visiting the University.

Dear customer There is a taxi stand at the airport. Delays are a common thing and most of the taxi companies won't accept preorders from the airport. Reception staff can order a taxi for you when you are at the hotel. Regards
