Firstly the hotel looks beautiful- the public areas and restaurants, bars, function suite are all fantastic. The room was really nice, and at £70b&b was excellent value and had a great sleep with comy bed and a window to open meaning it didn't get too hot like many hotels do.

So it was such a shame that the food didn't live up to expectations. The menu looks great but it arrive within 5 mins of ordering so felt like it had to be reheated rather than from fresh. It was greasy and disappointing, and the panna cotta was sent back as it was horrible.

We were at a function and they ran out of Prosecco 2hrs in... not great planning. But the function suite itself is fantastic, really beautiful and a great set up.

Breakfast the food was good, but only 1 waitress serving who was totally stressed out trying to manage a busy service and it took 25 mins before we even got our order taken.

So could be so much better if the food and service lived up to the decor.

My wife and I stayed at the Redhurst on two occasions in June. The hotel has clearly been recently modernised and is absolutely beautiful inside. On our first occasion we were allocated Room 16 which is a very small double room and although immaculate would possibly better suit a single person. On our second visit we got a good deal and were allocated Room 17 or The Clarkston Suite which was also very nice. The staff at the hotel are all very polite and willing to assist. As we had arrived later and the restaurant was busy we decided to order out for a meal to be delivered. We asked for plates to be sent to the room which was done within 10 minutes of our asking. Breakfast at the hotel cannot be faulted. The food was cooked to perfection I opted for the full Scottish comprising of bacon sausage, Lorne sausage two eggs black pudding, haggis, beans and tomato. I was supplied with toast and fruit juice given a choice of tea or coffee and my coffee was topped up. The hotel is within large grounds and there is a very large car park although it can get very busy with non residents going for meals. The area itself is a very nice area and is very quiet, it is on a main road and the traffic noise can be heard from rooms at the front but closing the window solves this. This isn’t actually a problem but may be to some people, but the fact is the hotel is on a main road. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and shall definitely be back for a further visit.

We stayed in the new Garden Room, absolutely beautiful room. Cleaning standard poor in the bathroom, blood from the previous guests on the floor. The room and room facilities are every bit as good as the photos online show. However the location brings the tone of the room down also the traffic noise and the staffing quality don’t match the standard of the room. I was told 2 days before my planned stay the restaurant would be closed, the alternative offered was local restaurants in the area or purchase a takeout and eat it in the restaurant. No offer to cancel my stay and look for an alternative. I was taken aback by the lack of concern towards how this impacted my planned stay for a birthday celebration. When I addressed this with the staff I was told again get a take away and they would ask ask management if I could get a full refund if I cancelled. I finally got a response to this less than 24hrs before my stay and I couldn’t source another venue I asked the hotel staff to try and accommodate me in any of the groups other hotels, this wasn’t possible. I really had no choice but to make the best of the planned stay. No apology on arrival for the inconvenience no warm welcome, staff rushed around and didn’t seem to take any notice of the guests. I won’t return to this hotel and would advise anyone looking for a welcoming atmosphere, restaurant services and a little concern towards guest experience not to book this hotel despite the wow factor the garden room offers the overall experience is sub standard.
I would however recommend the Lynnhurst hotel I have also experienced this venue for an overnight stay and it is night and day compared to the Redhurst.

Having a home emergency was really thankful this hotel putting me and my family up. I did have a pleasant sleep here. It is peaceful and all the staff i met were friendly. Thank you.

The rooms are dated with old furniture but clean enough. I was shocked at the rooms. The bathroom was clean. The bed was clean that is all that matters to me. I have heard this hotel is getting a much needed refurbishment! I hope this is true as it would make a brilliant hotel and would love for it to suceed. I was put in room 17 and I did complain as the window was cracked to pieces then they put me in room 8, and there was a bad dusty smell with stains on the clean bed linen they obviously put on. There is different furniture in every room, which I find bizarre in my opinion. It looks as though the furniture fell off the back of a skip, there is holes, marks on every piece of furniture and dirty marks on wall but you can tell how much the staff love this hotel as the maid said she loves her job.

Ate in the restaurant and that wasn't great. The food has went downhill. As i said i couldn't be more thankful to the staff & you will get a great sleep. Very quiet hotel. The breakfast setting is beautiful with a roaring fire, i would not recommend the breakfast. You can help yourself to the normal juices like orange & apple & milk for your cereal however they are hot. The milk was hot and i do think they are in need of coolers like other hotels. I left my cereal then the cooked breakfast came, it was awful. Being put down to me, was a black charcoal mess, everything was BLACK, looked like they just piled it up as high as they could on the plate & there is far too much on the breakfast. 3 sausages. Eggs not nice. Toast was not cooked etc.

Dear lel2020 Thank you for posting your review on TripAdvisor. I am delighted that we managed to put you up at short notice and that you appreciated the friendly team members and managed a restful night of sleep. Our housekeeping team and other team members do work hard at keeping the hotel to a high standard of cleanliness and making our guests feel welcome and valued and it is always appreciated when a guest comments on this. I must however apologise for what you found to be a disappointing experience at breakfast. All your comments have been taken on board and our Head Chef will be putting in a training session on cooking and presenting breakfast to all his kitchen team. I booked three rooms as we were attending a family celebration in the hotel. All rooms were recently removed and of a higher standard than you would expect from a 3 star hotel, therefore providing reasonably good value for money.

Room 16 was particularly small, but worked for one person for one night, although the room rate is for a double.

Small bathrooms have great showers (but no extractor fans we could find). Rooms were very warm, with no a/c (no great surprise there) and limited ventilation options.

Despite being on a busy main rood, we all slept well in comfortable beds with no traffic or other noise issues.

Hotel has a good sized car park.

Our biggest disappointment was breakfast. Good bacon, 2 types of sausage, black pudding and haggis. Limited pastries, just croissant. No bread or morning rolls, although when we asked they were provided. No potato scones. Scrambled eggs only. Cold toast. This part of the hotel offer has lots of room for improvement, even/particularly at this price point. I’d also note that the two young women running breakfast seemed too busy (or not trained) to offer a warm welcome on arrival or to check in with diners to ensure a quality experience.

It’s a good hotel, not great (yet! I hope this constructive feedback helps).

Food was bland and expensive, staff were very unattentive ,last round of drinks took 30mins to arrive.
Staff were not enforcing covid rules happy to let patrons wander about without masks. When challenged about it there suggestion as that we move table as we were the easier group to move.
Been in twice but won't be back unless there is a marked improvement. Save your money and go to one of the better restaurants in the area!

Visited the very recently refurbed hotel for a meal and drinks.
We were seated at a nice table (although it did need a wipe ) on a lovely terrace.
We ordered a bottle of wine, which was very nice and received menus to choose food from.
I ordered Steak Pie but regrettably was advised 10 minutes later they had none ( it was only 6pm ) and I reelected fish and chips.
40 minutes later I got the smallest fish and chips I have ever had, minus the peas it was meant to come with.
It resembled a battered sardine rather than haddock.
I complained to our waiter who said that was a shame, and that was the end of it.
We trust it was just opening teething troubles and will try it again in a few weeks, and hope for a better evening.
If not, sadlythat will be it !
Def needs to improve.

Our family stayed the night before my mother's funeral, and the hotel provided the catering for her wake after the ceremony. The staff were wonderful. We ate well at dinner and had an impressive Scottish breakfast. Recently refurbished, our rooms were excellent, comfortable and beautifully designed.

The wake was well organised by the manager and her very considerate staff. We made a few special requests regarding the food and wines to be served, and they really pulled out all the stops. The room had exellent presentation facilities so we were able to show a selection of photos during the wake. I must congratulate the hotel on every aspect of their service.

I booked here for the Bird and Bell restaurant with my daughter for coffee & cake, photos looked amazing online and price states for £5.50 per person (not from £5.50). We were both looking forward to this. never been before and it was a wee treat for my daughter's birthday. On arrival we were taken through to our table by a waitress, shown to our table which was in a corner of an empty bar, while the outside terrace was busy, and then forgotten about, staff were coming and going serving customers in the terrace while we sat in an empty bar in what felt like the naughty corner because we were being totally ignored. People who came in after us were served before us, the 2 of us sat there, like what the hell, is anyone going to give us a menu, so wee could see the options for hot drinks and cake selections. Eventually the barman came over and asked us our drinks order, so not knowing what was on offer, I just asked for a latte and my daughter asked if she could have a hot chocolate. A while later we overheard a conversation between staff saying that there was no hot chocolate and someone would need to go to the shops to get some, must add no one came and told us of this. they just continued to make us wait. Still sitting in our corner with nothing to eat and drink, another waitress came and asked if we were wanting anything, I said we booked for coffee & cake and we’ve been put here and totally forgotten about, she politely apologised, went and got her tablet and asked what we wanted, again what were our options, and she said tablet, empire biscuit, scone or strawberry tart. Ok, not what the photo showed online, so we both asked for strawberry tarts. Our strawberry tarts came, but no spoon or fork, a bit big to eat with hands, yeah they came with a knife, don’t know how we were gonna manage that, oh by the way still no hot drinks, we just laughed to ourselves that remember they had to go to the shops. Sat for another while waiting for our hot drinks, which eventually did come. Finally we can eat our strawberry tarts, we just decided to use our hands, amazing, utterly delicious and messy but still not worth the wait. Coffee and hot chocolate were both cold, drank it anyway. Was really looking forward to this, but instead was let down and disappointed, not what we were both expecting from this establishment. Staff were basic polite, but nothing more, no friendliness or personality. We asked for the bill, which came, and was shocked to see that we were charged £12.20 instead of £11.00 (£5.50 each for coffee & cake), they charged us for what we had as 4 separate items, which added up to £12.20, don't forget the hot chocolate was bought from the local shops Just paid and left, had enough, really really disappointing, not what I expected, I’ve had a many better and cheaper coffee & cake in any wee cafe in Shawlands, with friendlier waiting staff. The bar and restaurant are beautiful and spotlessly clean but the staff although polite, don't have anything else going for them.
