The Kelvingrove Hotel garners high marks for its cleanliness, with numerous guests commending the pristine condition of their rooms and bathrooms. Many visitors are charmed by the hotel's atmosphere and its unbeatable location, which offers easy access to the Kelvingrove Museum and surrounding attractions. Although the rooms are hailed for their tidiness and comfort, some guests mention they are a bit on the small side.
The value for money is a common highlight, with the hotel providing a comfortable stay at reasonable rates. While the amenities may be basic, the service is often lauded, though it's not without the occasional critique regarding efficiency.

Detailed Reviews
First and foremost, the staff at the hotel is great. They were pleasant and helpful. We cannot fault them.
The location of the hotel was great for us, as we were in Glasgow for events at the Kelvin Hall, which was a 7-min walk away. If you want the main shopping areas by George Square, then it will be quite track (25 - 30 mins), albeit a nice walk. You can use buses, of course. There are some good restaurants in the vicinity and they won't break the bank. We felt safe walking in the area, even at night. This is a university area, so you will come across young people walking around.
The rooms are all located in the lower ground floor and I don't think there's a lift, so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues. We had a room facing Sauchiehall Street but we were not bothered by the traffic noise as the double glazing did a good job..
Small bathroom which was clean and functional. However, there wasn’t an electric socket in the there. I use an electric toothbrush, so there was no way of charging it up. I applaud their effort in reducing single use plastic by providing dispensers. There was a soap dispenser by the wash basin and one for shampoo in the shower. But there was not a separate one for shower gel in the shower itself, which I thought was odd. It wasn't clear whether the liquid in the shampoo dispenser was also shower gel. Luckily we brought our own soap.
It was raining lots during our stay and we could have done with coat hooks to hang our wet coats up when we returned to the room. There was plenty of wall space for a hook or two.
We liked the breakfast very much. There was a good choice of pastry and full English/Scottish breakfast, no kipper, alas, but there was oatcake and cheese.
The hotel doesn't have a car park but there is plenty of street parking. You can buy vouchers from the hotel, cash only, and it is a great deal cheaper.
All in all, we had a good stay in this budget, but comfortable, hotel

We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a concert one of the nights. You can park outside on a weekend free but during the week it's a £1.00 per 15mins but there is a car park on Berkeley street which is cheaper. We parked here until we could move the car later. We checked into our hotel we had a twin room and it was lovely , nice and clean , beds were comfortable. Shower was really good too. This was in a good location as it's only 10 - 15mins from the Hydro which is great. It's a 30minute walk to the city centre depending on where you are. There are buses as well if you don't want to walk.
The staff were lovely Ryan the duty manager was brilliant very happy to help with anything we needed. He is a credit to the hotel.

We just needed 1 night stay. Due to flight schedule changes, we arrived at the hotel rather late at 10:30pm and had to leave early next morning before our not so properly parked rental car got rolled away. When we turned up late, hotel manager is kind enough to open the doors even though it was well beyond his working hours.
Room was in basement so it was quite a challenge to move all our bags down and up the staircase.
Room has 1 double bed 2 single beds with limited space to open the suitcases. So we had to dance around with bags on the floor.
Showe facility was fine with good water pressure. Would have been better if the soap dispenser does not keep falling down each time someone presses it.
The complimentary coffee and chocolate were also life saver as we didn’t have dinner (not provided by flight and no time to go dining/ shopping) and no time for breakfast either.
All in all we were just happy to have a bed and good shower after a very long journey.

Comfortable hotel within a ten minute walk to the Kelvingrove Museum. The staff was enormously helpful (thank you Liz!) and we enjoyed our time there. The room was spacious and comfortable, and very clean! My only complaint was that the shower was tiny, but the water was very hot and plentiful. Liz graciously kept our bags for us while we went to visit the museum. Our room looked out over an inner courtyard garden, and I enjoyed the view. There were outlets and USB plugs on both sides of the bed, which made charging our devices easy. I would certainly stay here again!

The Kelvingrove hotel far exceeded our expectations. The staff were all extremely friendly, attentive and helpful! We highly recommend ordering the breakfast, it’s a great value and the cook (Mary) was very sweet (in addition to being a great cook!). We had a triple room (queen bed + single) and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic for exploring the West End and all the great museums, parks and restaurants.

Lovely hotel. Perfect location, about 15 min walk to the city centre, 10 min walk to the Galvanizers (GW3), 5 min walk to the museum and park.
Plenty of places to eat, I highly recommend the Grove Fish and Chip place, delicious fish and chips, we even tried the deep fried Mars bar which was surprisingly nice.
Our room was big enough for the 4 of us, a little tired but very clean and has everything you need (even a fridge which came in very handy).
Big shout out to Liz who was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, always put a smile on our face.
I will definitely stay here again.

I am a returning guest at this hotel, however this morning we went for breakfast and could only describe the breakfast service as an absolute shambles. All the tables were dirty and full of dishes and we had no alternative but to sit down. 30 minutes later we eventually were able to order breakfast which was below par (sausages were burnt) and not what was ordered. Breakfast arrived with no cutlery and no cutlery was forth coming on asking a few times. Eating eggs with only a knife is no mean feat! I will not be returning due to staff being rude and no resolution when complaining at reception.

Central location, but not right in the centre of Glasgow. Perfect for us and was close to all that we wanted to see and do.
The welcome was freindly and professional. Our room was downstairs and was clean and warm. Ensuite was light, warm and clean. I think the room was triple glazed :-) But you could open the windows if you wanted to have fresh air.
Beds were quite soft, but we found them perfectly comfortable and not too warm, which suited us all.
We didn't have breakfast, but it all looked very good and served in a spacious room with lotes of light.
The room rate was excellent for the room for one night. We shared the room and had a bed each, but it suited us to do that.
I had been on a couple of occasions before some years ago and my review was much the same. It was why I suggested the Kelvingrove Hotel to my two family members. The best thing you can expect is the best value, but the icing on the cake is that the quality is consistant. Well done Kelvingrove Hotel

This was our second stay at the Kelvingrove. There were some new staff, as well as people we saw last year. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
We had a room on the ground floor, facing the front of the hotel (room 2). The room has a noisy toilet which grinds, sometimes even when you hadn't even been in the bathroom. We laughed about it and got used to it.
We enjoyed the cooked breakfast every morning, I love potato scones!
We enjoy staying at the Kelvingrove and would definitely stay again when we go back to Glasgow. The hotel is handy for the bus into the centre - number 77 to the bus station (the bus we used most often) and the number 3 towards Govan via the city centre. The bus to Govan is handy for visiting the Riverside Museum, which is just across the bridge a short walk away from Govan bus station.

We stayed here as a base for a wedding, superb service.
Had a family room, perfect size for all of us
There is parking. But I would book somewhere else if I was you. We had a terrible experience there.

Hi There. Breakfast is not usually included in our rate however we have the pleasure in offering you a free breakfast using promo code "breakfast". Please book direct via our website and use the promo code to receive a free breakfast for each night of your stay. Many thanks
Hi Gordon. You can either get a taxi from outside International which would cost approximately £20 or get the airport shuttle which leave every 25 mins also outside international airport. The shuttle will drop you at Buchannan Bus Station.
There is a regular bus service (number 77) running from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station every 10 minutes, dropping outside our door. Alternatively, catch the Subway to Kelvinhall from the city centre and you’ll find us just a short walk away.
We would be happy to store your luggage.
We look forward to welcoming you
