Nestled in proximity to Glasgow's vibrant West End, the Leonardo Inn Hotel Glasgow West End has garnered appreciation for its cleanliness and the friendliness of its staff. However, reviewers frequently note the rooms could benefit from a modern update and improved soundproofing. While the beds are commended for comfort, guests have called out the hotel for an atmosphere that falls short of contemporary standards. Opinions on the hotel's value and location are split, with some guests finding it noisy and others valuing its accessibility to local attractions.

On arriving 28th Nov 2022 staying every week day until 16th December. Whilst attending Beatson Hospital beside Gartnavel hospital in Glasgow for Radio Therapy for Breast Cancer. Scott and Martin very helpful whenever possible. Scott advised that if there was nothing on Menu that we liked he could make a toastie or anything similar. Menu was the same very day for 3 weeks with a Special Menu around 5.30-6pm with Mince or Stew or fish and chips or many other meals. Also there is a bar menu for children which I used regularly as smaller portions. We had room 101 which was on first floor and the furthest away along corridor and refurbished looking into car park and Duck Pond. No noise in this room as away from Lorries coming in and reversing horns coming on at 5-6am to M n S and to Garage across from Car park. Bus service 6 and 6a very 10 mins into Glasgow Town centre and George Square and a 10 minute walk to Byres Road where many shops and charity shops are. As being a patient at Beatson and staying at Leonardo Hotel We were entitled to go to 4th floor in hospital and attend Beatson charity where you can get coffee, tea, hot chocolate with marshmallows free of charge at any time during the day. There is also a very large TV that myself and fiancé could watch films or football World Cup. Also a Conservatory looking over Glasgow to sit in and read. For myself as a patient I got Lots of appointments available for Indian Head Massage, Manicure, Reiki, foot manicure, back massage and reflexology. I was spoiled very much in Beatson Charity. Well worth having ran 20 Half Marathons in the Great Scottish Run dressed as Wonder Woman many times and donating many thousands of pounds over those years to the Beatson. We made our own bed every day and only needed towels twice a week and room was very cosy and warm at night but had to turn radiator up at night and down in the morning. Good to walk around duck pond and only a 5 minute walk into hospital. Easy to walk to Botanic Gardens, and visit Kelvinside Art Gallery taking the 15 bus to University Avenue then walking but bus only every hour. many people from all over Scotland attended Beatson. Some from Dunoon, Rothesay, Stornaway ad may other places and `National Health taxi available at hotel if needed whilst being a patient. Very Very pleased with my stay and help I got from Martin the Reception Manager and Scott a co-ordinator?? and Sydney the waitress

Great wee visit, a little bit if a wait at reception but was ni no problem as we were early, seems the hotel may be short staffed. We were politely greeted and checked in, we had asked for a high floor and that's what we got with a nice view of the pond.
The room is a little tired but clean and comfortable. There is tea and coffee in the room but no biscuits or chocolate, an iron and board and a safe.
The room had a bath with plenty of hot water.
We had a drink at the bar but for some reason they require payment by card only, this is okay for people from the UK but people from outside may incur charges to pay by card. Something that bothered me was guests are not offered hand sanitizer, even at the restaurant when self service, no sanitizer to be seen. There was also a member of staff who was serving food, they had long hair which was not tied back. Looked a bit unprofessional.
Sleep was comfortable, breakfast was hearty and we were warmly greeted by staff who explained where everything was.
We didn't have a meal but we headed to wether spoons which is a ten minute walk. Take some bread to feed the ducks and swans.
We will return.

Leonardo is just of Great Western Road about 10 minute journey from Glasgow city centre. Whether shopping, sightseeing, business, visiting or attending Gartnavel or Beatson Hospitals it is an ideal location. The hospitals operate a scheme whereby you can stay at the hotel when attending hospital on a daily basis thus freeing up hospital beds.

It has a large well kept, litter free carpark and overlooks the pond which is pleasant to walk round or sit and watch the various birds to be found in or around it.

There are various restaurants to be found nearby, also fast food and snacks at the hospitals. There is a M&S food outlet attached to the filling station across the car park. The hotel provides a full continental and cooked breakfast, also evening meal with various choices. As with everwhere during covid they sometimes struggle obtaining catering supplies and so the menu is adapted accordingly. Again staffing is difficult but the permanent staff cover working with temporary staff well. Social distancing is maintained so no housekeeping while room is occupied, but replacements can be got from reception, from the trolley or at the door of room. All staff I met were extremely pleasant and helpful and really make this hotel.

The hotel is in need of some modernisation and decor upgrade which is probably due to the fact it is for sale at present. It is a much needed facilite in this area and hopefully a new owner/compny can be found soon, so as to allow it to continue to function.

When you enter Leonardo Inn hotel and go to reception, you are met with lovely people willing to help you with anything and the process of getting a room was very easy.

I had a twin room which I had to myself as rooms were overbooked due to it being St Patrick’s Day. 🍀

The pillows are amazingly soft, the room layout is big enough for any family and feels like you’re being treated by royalty. The only note I have is that I wish the hotel provided conditioner as there was only shampoo which I understand is still very generous considering you get other things like plenty snacks, coffee, tea specialties and 3 bottles of water, 2 still, 1 sparkling.

There is also a mini fridge in the wardrobe and a mini safe for any possessions you want protected in case of worse case scenarios (not that staff would do anything like that, could simply be for the purpose of keeping kids off your chocolate stash. 🤣🤣

Sleeping in my bed felt like I was sleeping on top of clouds on a sunny day… I couldn't describe it any better than that, because I hadn’t ever slept that long in weeks, probably months even. I then woke up and enjoyed a lovely shower with the shampoo provided, then went for breakfast which was amazing as there was such a huge selection of foods, I only thought that the orange juice was a bit watered down but besides that, it was delicious. 😋 🍳

Oh, and one other thing, the tv size doesn’t disappoint, I sat up most of my evening watching ghost stories at 10-12pm.

Absolutely loved this hotel and would 100% recommend for the price, one night goes around for just £68 as it also included breakfast alongside the offer.

Good for a night out with the other half, will definitely try to persuade my boyfriend to come back with me to experience the same thing all over again. ❤️

See you soon!

Where to start with this hotel.. I’ll start with the positives, it has a decent size car park , the breakfast was decent , the bar staff and waiting on staff are very pleasant and the location is good for the Westend of Glasgow.
Then on to the negatives:
You are welcomed into the reception with a large lampshade which is full of dead flies at the bottom, that just about sums this hotel up!
Our room was filthy, a carpet which clearly hadn’t seen a hoover
The hot tap didn’t work at all in the bath
Black mould on the bathroom ceiling and paint peeling off
Full of stag and hen parties coming back late and slamming doors on weekends
Lamp in the room that was damaged, see photo
Cleaners leave glasses and bottles next to the lift all day , see photo, then collected at 5am waking us up
Dirty disgusting carpets in lift areas, see photos
Key card to the room were only activated for one day, even though we were staying for 2 nights
Not room thermostat so rooms are either boiling or freezing
Shower goes hot and cold constantly as it’s connected to when other people use the water in other rooms
If you don’t put the sign outside your room, your room won’t be cleaned or towels refreshed etc, but nobody tells you this, you are supposed to be a mindreader and know this without being told.
I can’t believe their is any management of this hotel as it’s just such a dump it’s clear it’s been void of any kind of maintenance for a long time and when I complained, I was just told they would ‘make a note of it’ . Looking at the other reviewers, it’s clear no effective action has been taken after those , maybe Leonardo is just waiting to sell this hotel off as surely no respectable hotel chain would leave a hotel in this state?

I was here with a tour group. First, there is no way the pictures of the rooms on the website are actually rooms in this hotel. Need updates. Tub has lukewarm water, shower was nothing but cold. Sink had hot water so lukewarm warm bath and washed hair in sink. Kettle in room had leftover water from previous stay. Carpet in room is pretty nasty. Trash in hallway. Utensils in dining room suspiciously "clean". Hairdryer in desk drawer where the only mirror is waist high and can't be moved. Food wasn't the worst ever but definitely not good.

Firstly, the reception and hospitality were all lovely and trying to do their very best with what they have.
Many people who stay here are doing so whilst receiving treatment at the Beatson Hospital next door and there is little or no other choice nearby.
The place is really dirty. I used the lift once but after that used the stairs as lift was grubby. All common touch points very obviously not cleaned and place smelled bad. Stairwell also filthy. The carpet was full of debris and during my 4 day stay never vacuumed.
My room 305 had black mould above window frame that could easily have been cleaned off. Tea tray sticky and dirty. No mattress or pillow protectors on an old stained mattress. I ended up rolling myself in the well past it's best duvet as I didn't want to be in contact with the mattress. Carpet stained and filthy. Kept shoes on at all times .
Hotel has a policy of not cleaning rooms during a guests stay which is fine but I think the whole place needs a thorough deep clean and review of current housekeeping as a matter of urgency.
Boiler broke on day 2 of my stay so no heating or hot water for washing. Staff apologetic and provided an electric plug in heater that I'm not sure was entirely safe.
Bathroom ok but not clean. I purchased cleaning materials from the shop next door to do it myself Thin towels and hard cheap toilet roll not good.
Breakfast was acceptable but only just. Dinner was again acceptable (ish) but many items not available.

Hotel staff were really friendly and location of the Hotel is great location only 15/20 min walk from the West End and on Great Western Road so easy access to A82 for travel to Loch Lomond or Clyde Tunnel for heading back South . Hotel really needs a refurb or completely rebuilding . Rooms are quite dated and shower would not turn off .

The hotel is very tired and in need of TLC. Whilst the staff are friendly at reception it was understaffed when we arrived so everyone had to wait rather than a quick check in procedure.
For the size of the hotel it only has two very small lifts. Clearly they don’t expect guests to have much luggage with them.
I was on the first floor located near the lift. This caused no disturbance at all. The disturbance was from night staff either setting up/dismantling the small conference/meeting room next to mine. I didn’t really appreciate this at 0100.
The room in general was dated and whilst clean to a point, it is not good practice to leave water in a kettle between stays. In the room there was a single chair at the dresser, but then a random
Table in the corner. There was also only one bedside table which I found odd.
The bathroom needs a lot of work. Toilet roll holders loose on the wall, floor grouting in need of cleaning and then the shower. Tile grouting needs cleaned extensively. The ceiling needs repaired as cracked and mouldy.
We only had breakfast in the hotel and that was a disappointment. There was a lack of attention by the single member of waiting staff and I observed guests having to wait several minutes to be seated with no one else seated n the dining area. The buffet had clearly been out for hours rather than refreshed and the hot food was cold - and self
Respecting chef knows you need to keep a check on food temperatures. I saw breakfasts being returned as a result.
There is definitely need for improvement and it certainly didn’t justify the cost paid for the room and in all honesty I can’t say that I would return or encourage anyone to stay here

Stopped overnight with a Cosmos Tour. Location is out of the way. Very small lifts. The rooms have walls that are paper thin and conversations can be heard from adjoining rooms. The bed was comfortable, however there was also a double bunk bed in the room. The ladder took up the walkway between beds and made it a hazard using the bathroom. The carpet was dirty and had marks on it. The room was warm no air con or fan.The shower kept running hot and cold. Hardly any room to raise your arm while cleaning teeth as the wall and shower screen are so close together. The girl at the bar was rude and had no customer service skills. A smile would have been nice. The seafood pasta on the menu stunk and was in a lump in the bowl. Dry and needed sauce. The soup was average my Gammon steak was good. The rice pudding would have been better served warm as should have the chocolate fudge cake which was dry. Saving graces the food at the BP service station and the Steak house down the road

Catch a bus to the city from the hospital and that is about 2 pounds and then catch the airport express bus from city centre to airport that was 8 pounds. Glasgow is a pretty walkable city to walk to the city to do sightseeing. Otherwise you can catch the subway from Byers Road.
