When were you last in a 5* hotel and, following an exceptional tasting menu dinner with matching wines, offered a visit to the kitchens (meet the chefs) and the cellar the charming and knowledgeable Director of Food and Beverage, Liz? Amazing. This hotel comprises 5 town houses, beautifully transformed into one, all with luxurious en suite rooms named after wines, of course! The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful; Molly (Assistant Manager) made a point daily of checking we had everything we needed. Relying on wine-named rooms (no numbers) I did require the navigational skills of one cheerful (and amused) member of staff, Chris, to locate my room as I may still be wandering the corridors. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bed heavenly but I would have liked more light in the bathroom (superb shower) - an illuminated make-up/shaving mirror perhaps? The hotel's location makes access to Kelvingrove and the University of Glasgow within walking distance, and "on/off" buses facilitate journeys into other parts of the city. Highly recommended.

2 night stay for our honeymoon prior to staying reception staff informed us to drop luggage off the day before arriving, so preventing the need to carry a case to wedding venue and onwards
Stayed in junior suite which ticked all the boxes, spacious clean and very comfortable although overlooking rear of building which had glass bins, we were not disturbed by noise.
Beer garden a must if dry just wrap up as very pleasant to sit and enjoy glass wine, if that not your cup of tea sit inside beside open fire.
Bar staff very attentive and drinks to suite everyone.
Restaurant breakfast plenty to choose from cold to hot food, a la carte at night worth the visit again no complaints and staff very attentive but unobtrusive.
Thank you for an amazing stay we will be back

This is a strange place! There’s no doubting it is luxurious and opulent. The rooms are lovely, spacious and high spec, but the service lets it down in my experience. We stayed again a few nights ago and booked a suite, with dinner, bed and breakfast. The room was very nice but was right next to Reception, with only an open door between our bedroom door and the folks on reception who were happily chatting away all evening. Before dinner we asked if they would close the door so it wouldn’t disturb us later. They said that would be no problem, but when we came back after dinner the door remained open. I had to go out in my bathrobe after I’d gone to bed to close the door myself. Not a big deal, but why didn’t they just do it! Likewise at dinner, the service was just a bit lack lustre and at no point were we asked if we enjoyed our meal or if we needed anything else. They also don’t give you an ice bucket and take the wine away so they can top you up when they see you have run dry. I get that can be nice if the service is really attentive, but in our case it just ended up with me constantly with a dry glass, and leaving the restaurant with a half finished bottle of wine that I never saw but paid for!! The same again at Reception when we checked out; no asking if there were any issues or if we had enjoyed our stay, nothing. There had in fact been some issues with both the room and our meal (nothing too significant but I’d want to know if I was the owner of this hotel!) but they showed no sign of being interested in that. To sum up, we did in fact have a very nice time, but both my wife and myself agreed it could have been really excellent with just a few basic tweaks and a little bit of old fashioned customer service.

I have been visiting this hotel for the past 16 years and it's absolutely our favourite place, great ambience, staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and I love the dark decor making it feel very cosy and romantic. On my most recent visit we had the best meal, beef wellington, was well worth the £100, would highly recommend. What I would like to let the management know is that I have noticed overall cleanliness isn't at the standard it used to be both in rooms and public areas. We stayed in the signature suite as a treat for our celebration and it was our least favourite of the rooms we have stayed in over the years. Felt outdated, tired and soulless. Some upgrading/updating and maintenance is required. I would love to continue visiting this hotel, I hope HDV take heed of the feedback, I would be so disappointed if the hotel continues to go downhill.

Came through from Edinburgh to stay here as a surprise treat from my husband for my 60th birthday. The room we got was Concha Y Toro and we were shown in with a flourish and the comment " a nice quiet room at the back", well it was at the back and it was quiet but it wasn't nice. Outside the window was an old roof and to the left of that 2 shipping containers. The cleaning staff really should have turned up the suction on their hoover, as the carpet needed a good going over, remembered to dust the glass shelves in the bathroom and should have collected the receipts from a previous occupant which were down the back of my bedside table, maintenance should also secure the loose tap in the bathroom sink and management should take a look at the mismatched bedroom furniture which is more shabby/cheap than shabby chic. Worse was to come though in the morning when I took a shower, there was hair in the shower. My husband's breakfast was fine but my smashed avocado was brown and mushy and the sourdough toast underneath was black. I sent it back and asked for a veggie cooked breakfast instead which was fine but by the time it came my husband was well finished his. Obviously some training and supervision in the kitchen is required as my tea came in a tiny teapot with 2 teabags in it and was like tar. The young waitress eventually sorted me out with a larger pot and only one teabag. No one came to apologise for any of this. I discussed the state of the room/bathroom and disastrous breakfast with Domenico at the desk who offered us a refund of breakfast and a 20% refund which I agreed to and he said it would take 15 - 30 days to come through. Nothing had happened after 30 days so I phoned the hotel and was told that I would get a call back, I didn't get one. I called again the next day and Depute manager Molly promised to investigate and within 2 days the refund was in my husband's account. Given the problems during our stay I really shouldn't have had to do that. Definitely spoiled my birthday treat and I wouldn't recommend staying at One Devonshire Gardens.

We first stayed at the One Devonshire Gardens by Hotel du Vin in August 2021. At that time, I gave them a 4* as I thought the service was very good but the rooms looked tired.
We visited again in Sept. 24. The service was equally good, the staff very friendly and professional, the breakfast was excellent but the rooms looked very tired, not having been refurbished for a number of years. This was a big let down for an hotel of that class (and of that price).
I understand that this this an old building and this is part of its charm, but it is now in desperate need of maintenance. The windows were very drafty (and only single glazed), the woodwork has not been maintained, and there is mould building up in various places. The bedding is also very tired, as well as the carpets and decoration. We tried to put the radiators on as it was getting cold but both valves were turned off probably to save some money. It is a shame as the hotel has a lot of potential but it has definitely lost its lustre and now needs a major refurb to keep up with the competition.
On a different note, I tried to book the hotel directly as hoteliers usually prefer not to pay an hefty commission to comparison websites but the Hotel Du Vin website was down. When I spoke to the reservation team over the phone, they were not remotely interested to match the price I got from a travel website (they were about 10% more expensive). This also makes me think that they have lost touch with the market and live on their reputation.
This lemon squeezing strategy can only last so long…

Very disappointing and unfortunate experience. My wife and I were traveling to Scotland for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, and after 16 hours of travel from the United States were told upon arrival, at 7:00pm, that the hotel has a policy where they regularly overbook rooms and did not have a room for us. We had booked the room over the phone 6 weeks in advance, and received email confirmation that everything was set to go. They also did not proactively reach out to communicate this issue, so we didn't learn we were out of luck until we were standing in the lobby, exhausted and ready to unwind. The front desk staff offered to make a reservation elsewhere, but offered no options to compensate for the hassle or anything. From an establishment of this caliber I would have expected better, and this was a really disappointing way to start our celebratory trip to Scotland.

We haven't actually stayed or dined there however back in 1999 when our daughter was in Glasgow University's Halls of Residence on nearby Bellhaven Terrace she met a fellow, student resident who was the son of Meryl Steep, and studying Music for 6 months at Glasgow Uni. Meryly stayed at One Devonshire Gardens when she came across and wined and dined her son there. She invited one of her son's Scottish pals to visit her at her family home in the USA but he [stupidly] didn't take her up on the offer.

Hotel-du Vin. A wonderful 5* experience in a delightful room. The bed was comfortable, room pleasant, clean and tidy and room service great.
We could not find any temperature control for the room. However, as it was not needed and we therefore did not ask at reception about this. The reception team were friendly and welcoming.
The WiFi is free (with no password for login) if required and as a result of no password and being so insecure, we dd not use it.
The building is several houses knocked and made into one.
A very enjoyable stay and we would have no hesitation in returning and recommending.
We paid for room only and found the breakfast service at £27 each a little expensive and so we ate out each day.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and were really impressed by the standard of accommodation and level of service. Comfortable rooms with lovely views of the neighbourhood. A pleasant walk to the botanic gardens and lots of great cafes and pubs. All the staff were extremely helpful and the choice of wines in the bar was excellent. We will definitely stay there again and would recommend it for a stay in the West End of Glasgow. Worth avoiding rooms overlooking Great Western Road as they are rather noisy, ditto breakfast as it's a bit chaotic and there are plenty of better places for breakfast nearby.

Hi
Yes, as I understand it 16 year olds are permitted to stay in hotels overnight accompanied or unaccompanied.
Shouldn't make any difference who's name the booking was under.
Technically, you two could be married at 16 so there shouldn't be a problem.
Lovely venue and great staff but food was poor when we visited.

Dear Galapark-48,
There are 3 classic rooms in that townhouse, all with their own individual charm. First floor front facing room is Willi Opitz or on the second floor, the corner aspect of Peter Lehmann.
