Detailed Reviews
Only stayed for one night at CoDE Pods hostel but it was a good one. Located on Parliament Square in the beating heart of the Old Town it is perfectly located for exploring all Edinburgh has to offer. The interior was very unique, as the hostel is housed in an old courthouse and holding cells (converted for comfort of course!). Bathroom facilities were great, they had a luggage store after checkout and the staff were plenty and attentive. The breakfast seemed like good value, and despite me missing the breakfast slot by 5 minutes or so, one staff member Eric went above and beyond to sort me out with some food and a coffee - thanks Eric. The pods in the room were class, providing enough privacy. I was a bit hot and sweaty when awaking but most of the blame for that goes to an excellent (and late) night at The Jazz Bar round the corner.

I had an early flight from Edinburgh airport and wasn't getting to edinburgh until 11.30pm the night before, so needed somewhere for a few hours that was cheap and central. I also wanted a pod bed. This place fit the bill perfectly! It is just off Rose St so I went for a few drinks until 1am, went to my pod until 3.30am and then walked 5mins to St Andrews Square where the airport bus departs from. I will definitely stay here again - £20 and an £8 return bus fare beats £125 at an airport hotel!!

We had a family room which was more than adequate for us. A double top bunk and two single pods underneath. All had 2 usb points as well as complimentary ear plugs which you needed! The bed was super comfy. My only downstairs was the noise. The doors to the rooms are heavy metal doors and are noisy when they close, there is also a very noisy extractor fan in the bathroom which you hear every time someone goes in the bathroom. For the location and value for money I would highly recommend.

Be very careful when booking with this place. I booked months in advance for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival of 2022, and at the last minute CoDE cancelled my reservation without any notice, leaving me stranded without any accommodation during the Fringe when everything else was completely full. Apparently there is a problem with charging my card, but no notification was given to me, and I even received a welcome email 3 days before my stay. When confronted, CoDE simply shrugged their shoulders, apologized for the technical problem, but said there was absolutely nothing they could do because someone else had already taken my pod. They did not charge me, but no compensation or alternatives were offered. So just for anyone thinking of staying here, just be careful and make sure you contact CoDE yourself a few days before your reservation to ensure that your room is secured, especially in peak season.

No plug socket in the pod which made charging phone difficult make sure to bring a usb plug if you want to would have be nice if this was noted so was aware before arriving. Showers and bathrooms are pretty clean but do note that they are unisex and the showers are frosted doors with a curtain that doesn’t cover the whole door I am a lost as to why they didn’t just use a solid door especially considering they are unisex bathrooms. Another note it is located right next to a Wetherspoons so the nights and morning can get quite noisy and it means the windows were often kept close so there was no fresh air circulating. There is also no reception everything is done via codes not that this is an issue just think the price could be cheap considering they have no staff.

We had a surprisingly nice stay at the hostel. It was very clean both the pods as well as the bathrooms. The showers had a space in front of them where you could dress in private. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was great, you can easily reach everything by foot. The house keeper was very nice and we met a lot of amazing people.
The dorm rooms are a little tight especially when it comes to unpacking your suitcase and the lockers are a little tight if you have a bigger suitcase. But we also felt very safe in our allgirls dorm.
The pods were comfy and I'd recommend while you sleep to keep the curtain to the pod open a bit since it gets quite hot and stuffy in there over night.
The only only actual negative aspect we have is that you will most likely wake up early in the morning since the garbage trucks picking up the garbage from the pub next door were loud.

Very central but also very quiet. I do think my room was to the back of the building but still very quiet slept with the windows open all night no bother. Beds clean and comfy. Pod style dorms are brilliant all the space you need.
No one on site, any and all contact done through the phone- not a complaint, replies where quick and effective.
10/10 would recommend

We stayed in the penthouse apartment for 2 nights, the room was very spacious, and had everything we needed for doing our own cooking. The terrace and the large windows and view was the highlight of our stay, it was lovely to sit on the terrace for a drink at night, or in the morning before we went out for the day. The location was amazing, we were within 5-10 minute walk from
most places we wished to visit which was perfect. Would definetly recommend staying in the penthouse!

This location is tucked away in a great spot and provides all the basic amenities. Cassiano is a lovely person and incredibly helpful during check in and throughout your stay. He hosted a pumpkin carving event for Halloween which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
The rooms themselves are a bit small/narrow so everything must be stored in the provided lockers. The pods however were well soundproofed to not hear those above/beside you. A towel is provided for you at no additional cost, which was nice.

Every single staff member were gorgeous, helpful, welcoming and HAPPY!!
Our room was clean, the beds and pillows were really comfortable. We even got ear plugs if we needed them. The showers were hot. We had breakfast there and the prices are very reasonable. We listened to the entertainment (male on acoustic guitar and singing), for the size of the room, the sound level was perfect. Thank you from a couple of old ducks 😂 for a wonderful experience. Love the communal kitchen, I left shampoo and conditioner for someone else to use ❤️
