Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The title says it all! Stayed overnight as we were at Scot v Wales rugby. Arrived early, no problem. First impressions, exactly like the photos, beautiful decor, very welcoming, great location. Room was warm and cosy, comfy king bed, en-suite shower, tv, kettle etc. Breakfast, whatever you wanted, yoghurt, granola, fruit, juice, toast, eggs etc etc, was just what we needed. May and David are so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and can’t do enough for you, we felt very relaxed in their home. Next time we decide to stay over, this is where we’ll be, it’s amazing! Thanks to you both for an amazing stay.

My friend and I booked this quite last minute as we needed a place to stay for an evening Wedding reception and we were so happy with what we saw and experienced in such a short time. We were made to feel very welcome. The decor in the B&B is stunning and the bedroom albeit small, was enough for what we needed it for and the bed was so comfy! Breakfast was great too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a city centre place to stay.

My husband and I decided to have a day in Edinburgh and I booked here the night before. David and May are lovely and the B&B is exceptional. So tastefully decorated and very quirky. Beautiful extra touches and breakfast was delicious! I think we got it at an extra bargain price, as it may have possibly been a last minute cancellation. Amazing value for money and would have happily paid more. Plus only a 5 minute walk to the west end of Edinburgh! Give it a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

A perfect two night stay in a fantastic location. Late check in but the hosts were very accommodating. Lovely room in a period property with fantastic decor providing a very chilled atmosphere. Provided with a set of keys to come and go as required and a lovely home cooked breakfast to order. Thank you for your hospitality.

Edinburgh has been on our list of places to visit for a long time and I took some time over choosing the perfect accommodation. After reading such good reviews this seemed ideal and it exceeded our expectations. A beautiful house in the West End district spotlessly clean , beautiful furniture and perfect hosts. Breakfast was cooked to order with good quality ingredients along with a friendly chat about the best places to visit. Despite only being a five minute walk from Princes Street location is perfect for a quiet stay as it’s not near the main road ,we did not hear any traffic noise or rowdy neighbours during our 4 night stay. Highly recommended for couples of any age and we would definitely stay again. Thank you for making our stay that extra bit special David and May

Great location in the West End, beautifully furnished, inviting sitting areas, lots of interesting books and knicknacks, friendly and knowledgable hosts. We had excellent coffee and pastries (as good or better than Paris!) along with our full breakfasts. Hosts could not have been nicer.

David and May were perfect hosts as their wonderful five bedroom hotel. We were staying with my wife's brother and wife who had just flown in from the US. It was a great base to explore Edinburgh and all its sights and the location was spot on (5 minute walk from the West End tram stop) - easy to walk anywhere. The hotel is beautifully appointed, very comfortable furnishings that really do make you feel very much at home. Our rooms were spotless, and had every amenity we could wish for. Breakfast each day was freshly prepared by May, extremely tasty and along with bottomless tea and coffee prepared us for our busy days. We would thoroughly recommend.

A perfect location for a city break situated just off Princes Street, just a short walk from all the major attractions in this wonderful city. Luxurious rooms, delicious breakfasts and hosts for which nothing was too much trouble. David & May offered helpful and friendly advice on things to see and do around the city and made our short stay a memorable one. We will be sure to return.

We have been wanting to visit Edinburgh for many years, but always found it ridiculously expensive, compared to travelling abroad for what you get - weather, attractions etc. This year seemed the best time to go, with the City being down on tourists, and therefore most hotels having to be keenly priced for business. I've travelled extensively on business throughout my years, as with my wife, we have also seen a fair bit of the world, so I am now beginning to realise that the personal touch is far more important to me that a huge double suite with glitzy interiors. This is a bed and breakfast situated in the West of the city, perfect for walking and exploring. It's a 5 min walk from the nearest tram stop, so airport access is cheap and easy. It's a 5min walk into the main area of the New Town (Princes, George and Queens) . There are so many restaurants, bars and shops close, that you will never need a taxi. I think we ended up with the smallest of the rooms, which doesn't bother me at all. Yes the bathroom was a squeeze for two people at the same time, so don't use it together! The shower was powerful and had all the cosmetics one could ask for along with clean and fresh towels in abundance. Apart from sleeping and preparing for the day/night, what else do you need?? Bonus on our room, was that we had access to our own private outside terrace, so either in the morning or at night, we could enjoy a drink in the fresh air. Lovely for those warm barmy evenings, or crisp fresh mornings :-) The room always smelt fresh, and the décor was tasteful and very stylish - a home from home. There were tea making facilities in the room, and you could help yourself to fresh milk from the kitchen, as and when you needed it. Breakfasts were amazing. It is quoted as "continental", but we had a cooked platter every morning of choice - bacon and scrambled egg on sour-dough bread, or avocado with salmon, or whatever your fancy. Cereal or porridge was available, and then a fruit selection, accompanied by a tasty croissant or pan au chocolate. All washed down with fresh juice, tea and barista coffee. May and David are very warm, kind and friendly; something which is worth more to me than a huge hotel. Holidays are precious times, and to have them add to the experience offering advice and guidance, is and was absolutely priceless. To sum up, yes you might not be in the largest hotel, with the largest room, but what you get here is something better than that. You get the personal touch, you get a prime location, you get a room which is above and beyond clean, so essentially you get all you need for a great stay in Edinburgh. ENJOY!! We'll definitely be using them again if we return to Edinburgh..
