Stayed here for 3 nights recently whilst seeing the Edinburgh Tattoo. Greeted by the most friendly and helpful staff. Which is the best thing about this hotel. The staff are sooo friendly and and helpful. Hotel smells amazing in communal areas. It is a very modern hotel with some unusual aspects. Very clean. Our room however was quite disappointing. Whilst a castle view it was quite small for what we paid (£400+ pn room only). The bathroom is really the entrance hall to the room. With separate toilet and shower cubicles. But it felt odd to us to be brushing our teeth at a sink in front of the entrance door. The sink being between the two open front wardrobes. There is a dividing door between the bedroom and the entrance/bathroom area but for us it just didn’t work. The toiletries were of a good quality. On one day our room was not made up which was disappointing. We did complain but housekeeping did not arrive until sometime after so by then we had made our bed etc. Our friends were disturbed by loud music coming from a nightclub close by until 4am. They did get their room changed but a lot of hassle in the early hours. Breakfast was expensive at £20pp daily. Limited menu. Service was good. Overall we felt that this was a very expensive hotel for what we experienced. Would probably not stay here again even though the location was good. Parking is not local but hotel can offer discount which was worth while. Ate in the Eve restaurant which is a tapas selection which was ok.

What an incredible hotel! My friends and I went up for the fringe for three nights and has the most amazing stay. Firstly the location was in the middle of everything which made the trip easy and stress free. The food and decor are stunning. I personally loved how welcoming all the staff were, ever person I spoke to was warm and welcoming and it just created an atmosphere of friendliness. Will definitely be coming back!!

Amazing hotel!!!! Luxurious rooms, great facilities and almost impossibly good customer service - I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The incredibly central location was also so useful considering I was there for the fringe.

The Wonderful: - The hotel is in a great location. It is right in the middle of the touristy area and where the action is. It’s close to great shops and restaurants. It’s centrally located. When we went sight seeing and needed to make a quick stop at our hotel, it was quite easy to do so because of the location. - The lobby area was fun and the decoration was “cool.” It had a cool vibe. - Jesus at the front desk was welcoming and friendly and walked us to the elevators. - It rains a lot in Edinburgh and they provided umbrellas that were very sturdy and they seemed to have plenty of them because there was always one available for us. The Good: - The rooms are spacious and they had a his and her closet, which was convenient. Plenty of closet space, which we utilized. However, there was only one sink and I would have easily given up one of the closet spaces to have two sinks. - The beds were comfy. - The bathroom was separated from the shower, which was a nice touch - it makes the room seem more spacious. - There was a small vanity area between the toilet and the shower, which was a nice touch. The Bad: -The floors can be confusing. There’s a restaurant on the ground floor, and then the lobby is on I think the 4th floor and then there are rooms below and above the lobby - I’m not even sure. But, either way, it made it confusing navigating the different floors. The Ugly: - The rooms weren’t as clean as I’d like them to be. I saw cup marks on some of the tables and there were small stains on the sheets. I know, it didn’t kill me that there was a small stain on the sheets, but still - you’re paying for a four star hotel, you want to make sure that the sheets look impeccable. - Here’s my issue about their cleanliness. From my research - this hotel is fairly new. I think it’s just a couple years old. So, as a result, it’s easy to hide behind the newness of a hotel as everything is recently renovated and new. So, for the room to not be cleaned properly, this is a FAST way of making a four star hotel easily turn into a standard 3 star hotel. - There was hair on the sink, and the floor looked like it wasn’t vacuumed or mopped correctly. It looked like the cleaning service had to rush to turn over the room, and I don’t know if the cleaning people need to do a better job, or if it requires a more upper-level change. For instance, maybe they need to add more cleaning staff so that the staff doesn’t have to rush to get so many rooms cleaned so that they can really focus on each room. - The furniture they decided to go with is a cream color. Which is nice and modern looking, but think about it - this light color is going to show every single stain. So, either be equipped with cleaning tools that will scrub off the stains, or go with furniture that isn’t going to stain easily. - The retro fridge in the room made weird noises and would often wake us up in the middle of the night. I considered just unplugging the damn thing. - My overall issue with this hotel is that I feel like they’re trying to be the “cool chic” hotel with their choice of furniture, but this is only going to take you so far. A dirty stained hotel, is still going to be a dirty hotel. Other: - I didn’t use the gym, but took a look at it, and it was well equipped. - We got a drink downstairs in their restaurants and the service was great and the decor was cool. The drinks were decently priced.

Stayed with the family for 3 nights for the Fringe festival. Location is absolutely spot on - bang in the middle of the Old Town. We ate at both Eve and Commons Club - service and quality were both fun and slick, try the dauphinoise side in Commons if you get chance. I’ve put on a stone but it was worth it. Rooms were really well designed, quiet, clean and I like the double chamber arrangement. A memorable stay - we’ll be back!!

The room we were in 716 heard boom boom boom all night (till 5am) we complained and got moved to 908 and the air con (even though turned off or on) made a drone noise ALL the time. The bathroom is a corridor just inside the room door, so you walk into the sink and washing area. The staff are kind and good but the hotel is for youngsters noises all the time. Sink did not drain in the room. There is not enough hanging space or draw space if you are staying more than one night (Room 908, 716 did have more room). Beds are comfortable. Would I stay here again NO. We stayed at Radisson last year 10 x better. Came up for Tatto think next time will try Balmoral Hotel.

I have just made a booking online with Virgin Hotels of an overnight stay for my son and his girlfriend for April 2024 in Edinburgh. It’s a Christmas gift and I was very impressed with the customer service I received. Emma replied with a few questions, making me confident their stay will be a very pleasant one. She was professional, knowledgeable and very efficient.

Our trip was planned as a mother/daughter trip, but then my husband decided to tag along. This threw a curve ball into our planning, as hotels for 2 are easy, but adding a third becomes a challenge. Since it was fairly last minute, our choices were narrow. Fortunately for us, the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh had availability and rooms that they consider "family" rooms. This consisted of two rooms next to each other, each with separate doors, but an additional door beyond the two, allowing us to lock the external and leave the other two unlocked should a family member need mom or dad. The rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, seating areas, well lit bathrooms that provide shower and toilets separate from sink and dressing areas. They provide free water and coffee and tea as well as a sweet treat. Other items are available for purchase. There is a small refrigerator in each room as well. The hotel hosts two restaurants and a bar as well as a small library. All comfortable. The location of this hotel is perfect. Royal Mile and Grassmarket are right there affording easy access to quaint shopping, great coffee shops and the Edinburgh Castle. The only down side is the club located just down the street that spills out onto the street. If we hadn't been so tired, the noise may have been a problem, but we were able to sleep. Just something to think about. We woud definitely stay here again!!

Overall nice, #1 you are paying for convenient location. Staff very responsive and pleasant. Standard king room layout is very bizarre. Bathroom is split in half by the entrance way, making for a sloppy mess after every shower. Most hotels offer a Keurig (or similar) coffee maker in room opposed to a coffee pouch in hot water. Coffee and tea in the restaurant was cold 1st day. It got better as the days passed. Overall average hotel, with great location.
