Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The location is perfect. Nice quiet rooms, I had a room with a garden view, but the street is away from the main road so I think front facing would be fine too. Spotlessly clean. The staff were really lovely. I loved the artwork in the hotel too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I had a very pleasant stay in this beautiful hotel. The interior is inspiring; the backyard serene and the staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast to start your day! Good location with e.g. Calton hill close by and nice pubs around for dinner.

Trust me when I tell you this. This hotel, the people who work here and the owner were a highlight of our trip! Our family of 4 (2 adult sons) travelled to Edinburgh recently and stayed at this hotel. The boys room with twin beds was situated next to our very spacious bedroom. Comfortable (huge bed), with an added sofa to relax on when needed. The bathroom was a good size with a shower/bath. The water pressure and hot water was the best I've ever experienced in a hotel. There's some outdoor space for a sunny day and a great bar/cafe situated in the front of the hotel. The artwork is sensational! Even if you are not into this type of art, at night whilst you are retreating to your room, the staircase and art just illuminate into something amazing. But....the true highlight of our trip was meeting the people associated with this hotel. Firstly, you must meet Tony (The Whisky Guy). Look, even if you aren't into whisky, this guy knows his stuff and to be honest, the stories he tells were a lot of fun to listen to. We aren't big drinkers but were fascinated by his knowledge and experience in the Whisky world. Then there was Alesia (the owner). We were lucky to meet her on one of her visits and what a fantastic and interesting character she is. Extremely generous and from what we could see, treats all her guests and staff like family. Cannot tell you how many laughs we had with Alesia. Of course the staff were also amazing and extremely thoughtful and kind. I wish this hotel was closer to where I live. We will miss the people greatly. Thank you so very much for making our stay so incredible. FYI, I've never written a review this long!!

You can’t buy this experience for money. Fabulous. Quirky. And pure ART! The breakfast was fabulous. If what you wanted wasn't on the menu, they made it appear anyway! The Whisky bar was stocked with products that would please the even most demanding palette and was run by the Whisky Guy (Tony), a true pro with the greatest sense of humor. And then there was Alicia - the owner - a true character & force of nature with such love & passion for the craft. We loved everything about this experience and would strongly recommend it to anybody who wants a spectacular stay in Edinburgh. Thank you!

Wonderful stay here. Very unique hotel and unlike any other I’ve stayed at. The interior is gorgeous. We booked one of the junior suites for 3 nights and loved the decor of the room. It was very stylish but still extremely comfortable. The bed was AMAZING! I can’t emphasize that enough. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bed at a hotel that I’ve slept so well in. So many nice touches in the room (sleep kits, great smelling products). Location is excellent, on a quieter, beautiful street which was perfect and a short walk from main attractions. Would definitely prefer this over a hotel in the old town/more crowded areas of the city. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious, quick, and reasonable. The 24/7 bar service in the lobby was very convenient coming back later at night. Staff is super personable. Peter was extremely helpful, went out of his way to make our stay perfect. Really hoping to be back soon. Will be highly recommending to anyone I know coming to the city.

Cannot say enough good things about my Stay! The hotel is LOVELY, I loved the art and even moreso knowing about the artist. The room was adorable and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower pressure was GREAT (this is very important to me lol). The staff went above and beyond for me, including providing me with bandaids for my blistered feet and calling me a cab. I love it here and you will too. Thank you so much for the great stay!
