Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I stayed at the Crescent House during the Fringe Festival, and I'm so glad we did. It's a bed-and-breakfast in a beautifully restored Georgian townhouse, and it provided us with a calm, spacious oasis where we could retreat from the crowds and chaos in the center of the city ... and yet it was close enough to the center that it was easy to enjoy the festivities when we felt like it. The Crescent House is within walking distance of many excellent restaurants, and it's an easy walk to Edinburgh's botanic gardens. Paul and Michael were very helpful in helping us make the most of our stay in Edinburgh, providing advice on obtaining tickets to events, etc. Paul and Michael pay attention to the details of their spacious home, including fresh flowers, beautiful lighting, and eclectic and yet complementary paintings and sculptures. This was the best place my husband and I stayed during our three weeks traveling around Scotland!

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and we didn't want to leave. Paul and Michael are the perfect hosts. Their B&B is gorgeous and modern. Their entry way is so inviting. They only have 3 bedroom suites which was perfect for our liking. Less guests in the townhouse. They spoiled us. The bedroom was very spacious. Breakfast each morning was quite a spread. Could not have asked for a better location for walking around the city. I would have to say that the only draw back was the bedroom did not have a curtains to keep out the sun in the very early hours. Only shutters. Problem solved by us by hanging a blanket over the shutters. I would strongly suggest you stay here the next time you are in the area.

We stayed for my friends birthday, who has family in Edinburgh. This was my first time and Paul was great on entry to the guesthouse, orientating us to the house and facillities, signposting locations for us on arrival, and getting the most from our trip and what we wanted out of it. Mike was also great and very accommodating, it was lovely to see all the artwork he has created, and get to know them both. Bhudda breakfast was amazing! Beautiful room, lots of space to utilise, great facilities with clear instructions for use. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were made to feel very comfortable. Would certainly recommend and stay again.

Paul and Michael were fabulous hosts! Paul even prepared a snack breakfast for my 12 hour touring day for the coach ride. I really appreciated it! My accommodations were sublime, well furnished, and immaculately cleaned on my arrival from Ireland. I loved the artistic detail throughout their home. My bed reminded me of home. I would stay at Crescent House again in a heartbeat. Thank you for making my stay lovely and comfortable!

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at Crescent House and felt it was a perfect "home-away-from-home". The property's location is an ideal balance of seclusion and walkability/proximity to town. Lots of great bakeries, restaurants, and corner shops in the neighborhood apart from the usual High Street stuff. The hosts were gracious and a delight to get to know. Bathtub in the ensuite was a lovely way to unwind at the end of a day walking around the city.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay to celebrate my 50th birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary. The hosts Paul and Mike were very friendly and attentive and went out of their way to make our stay memorable ensuring we were able to celebrate in style. The property is impeccable with so much attention to detail and tastefully furnished throughout including there being a lot of Mike's art on the walls. It is in a nice peaceful location but still very close to the city centre, Stockbridge and Leith. Fantastic recommendation for the Greek restaurant, Spitaki, round the corner. It is a must if visiting Edinburgh or worth going to Edinburgh solely to stay at Crescent House.

We had the pleasure of staying at Crescent House for 3 nights during our 2 week trip to Scotland with our son and daughter-in-law. Of all the places we stayed during our trip, it was unanimous that this lovely home was our favorite. The location is perfect for getting around Edinburgh. Close to the city center but located on a peaceful, quiet street. The home is beautiful and our rooms were perfect. The beds were so comfortable and the attention to detail makes the rooms very inviting. It was the best sleep we had during our entire trip. We didn’t want to leave! There are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the guest rooms which we had no problem with but if you have mobility issues, it would be something to consider. Paul and Michael were just the best hosts! They were warm and welcoming with great suggestions for things to do during our time in Edinburgh. The breakfast was a great, relaxing way to start the day and delicious! They went out of their way to meet my gluten free needs with a large variety of gluten free items and also met us when we returned from our days adventure with a beverage and great conversation! Paul and Michael couldn’t have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. It’s easy to see why they are an award winning B&B! If you’re considering a stay at Crescent House, don’t hesitate! We will definitely stay here again when visiting Edinburgh!
