The Premier Inn Dundee Centre Hotel is celebrated for its central location near Dundee's city center, which guests find convenient. The hotel's atmosphere is generally considered welcoming, with a nod to family-friendly amenities and comfortable beds. However, some travelers report cleanliness and maintenance issues in rooms, alongside disturbances from noise. While the service is often lauded for being friendly, there are concerns about staff responsiveness and room servicing. Guests have mixed feelings about the value, acknowledging reasonable food pricing but criticizing additional costs for early check-ins.

This is my favourite hotel in Dundee which I return to 9 times out 10 at least twice a year. The rooms are clean, comfy. Large, with the necessary accessories. The beds are excellent and I keep promising myself the pillows! The location couldn’t be better for accessing the centre of Dundee and you could t have a better view, whether it’s the city or the Tay. Staff have always been friendly, available and helpful both in the hotel and in the Beefester. Food is good and priced competitively and breakfast is freshly cooked and replenished. We always have drinks in the bar, price is okay but if you’re looking for a late night this won’t suit as the bar shuts around 10.45pm with last orders at 10.15pm. This was fine for us, and of course if you’re looking for later bars and clubs, you’re only about 6-8 minutes walk away from the action.

The soundproofing in this hotel is outstanding;
Thee is a check in desk with the addition to check in on a machine.
There is no room telephone.
The rooms are not large and the one window is narrow, about 3 feet.
You are supplied with a kettle, tea and coffee. If you need more you lift them at reception.
The bathroom fittings are of a high standard.
The air conditioning is disconnected occasionally and if it goes off you have to attend reception and ask them to reconnect it.
You have the pleasure, dubious or otherwise of eating at the Beefeater and if you like chips and don't mind if your food is not hot then you will enjoy it, but sometimes the one cook and one waiter can naturally be overwhelmed when hotel is busy. Soup is not on the menu.
Half the rooms have inland views so you may not get a seaview and there does not seem to be an acknowledged way to upgrade to one.
If you need supplies there is a huge Tesco 800 yards west along the riverbank.
The hotel is very clean as was our room although the carpet had seen better days.
Daily room cleaning is not done and if you want it you have to request it.
We enjoyed our stay and will readily return.

Location is great and view is amazing if you get one over looking the Tay, room windows don’t open so the rooms are stuffy. We experienced poor / not working aircon so the room was very warm over night to begin with. Bathroom needs an extractor that works. If you stay more than one night you need to Remember to ask each day if you want your room cleaned / need fresh towels or need anything topping up.

This has always been our go to hotel for our many trips to Dundee. We like the location, it has a car park and the staff are always friendly and accommodating.
However things appeared to have changed. Prior to our recent visit we telephoned ahead as we always do and asked for a top floor, river view room if possible as one of us is very sensitive to noise and these rooms are quieter. We know that it is not guaranteed but nine times out of ten we have had our request met.
On this occasion when we arrived not only were we given a first floor room over looking the car park and road and above the bin store but it wasn't even the room we had booked. We had booked a family room and we were given a twin. Also the room didn't appear to have been serviced and didn't even have the basics like towels and toilet paper.
When we went back to reception we were told they didn't have family rooms as all the sofa beds were getting replaced. We pointed out that we had also asked for a higher floor room away from the road and we weren't happy where we had put due to the noise and the room wasn't even ready for us. We were then asked to return to our room and wait for someone to get back to us. After a lengthy wait a lady appeared with towels. We told her we were actually waiting for a room change. During another lengthy wait we starting looking online for somewhere else to stay then miraculously we were given a top floor, river view family room although we were made to feel like an inconvenience.
The other annoying change we have found on our last couple of stays is that they have started closing the bar early, usually before 10pm. We used to always walk back from a show at the Caird Hall and have a drink in the bar before bed but this is no longer possible.
We had planned to have breakfast in the restaurant before setting off for home the next morning but this whole experience had put us off.
Sadly after many years of staying in this hotel we will now look for somewhere else to stay.

We checked in at 3PM and our cards did did not work to get in the room we reported to staff who advised they would just let us in every time we wanted in, there was no towels or toilet rolls in the room we reported at 3pm, we went out and came back at 5.40 still no towels or tiolet roll asked reception again got towels and told they would try find us toilet roll. We went for food and returned at 8.10 had to ask for toilet roll again toilet roll had been left on ledge, not put in dispenser so we had to just lift it out of a pile sat on the toilet unit, not hygienic at all.
So from checking in just after 3 we had to wait over 5 hours for toilet roll and towels. Couldn't have a shower before dinner after long journey and couldn't even use our room toilet.
Wifi was down in the hotel so devices could not be used.
We also discovered someone else's dirty socks in our drawer.
Also the vending machines were out of order.
All in all not a great experience

My wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving by rental car at 3PM. The nice receptionist checked a passport and provided the key card and parking instructions(3 GBP/night), before we took one of the elevators to the 3rd floor.
Prepaid room #331 was carpeted and nice sized, opening to an outfitted bathroom with quick hot water and a tub shower, then a small closet, desk unit with hot pot with large TV(BBC Scotland & 50+ channels and proper guide), very comfortable queen, and couch. A fixed window looking over the parking to the nearby museum led to a quiet night’s sleep. The open room WIFI was strong, 5 room outlets, good lighting and silent wall controlled AC/heat. Breakfast buffet available at the attached restaurant.
The River Tay location across from the train station is ideal with Tesco Extra 2 blocks west and the RRS Discovery/V & A Dundee 1 block east. This is a clean and modern 162 room hotel offering good value to visit Dundee.

This was our second time at this hotel. We chose here because of the location then price. We booked an accessible room and pre-booked the meal deal for the adjoining Beefeater.

Check in was easy and although busy, staff were friendly and efficient. Our room on the ground floor was warm and clean with extra pillows. There was a fair sized multi channel TV, hairdryer, kettle and hanging space. The wi-fi worked throughout the hotel. The room was spacious. The wet room had a good non slip floor with an adequate supply of soft towels.

Sitting on the banks of the river Tay between the road bridge and rail bridge, a short walk from the railway station near the V &A and Discovery means its well placed for anyone wanting to explore the city.

Staff advised us to book a time for evening meal as the hotel was so busy and I'm glad we did.

Overall we had another wonderful stay, the only minor point that let the hotel down was the hair/body wash in the shower was hard to reach when sitting. The plus point was the door viewers in the bedroom door, one at standing height and one at wheelchair height.

The room was as expected, but with it being Easter, the hotel was very busy. This would be okay if there was plenty of staff, but either not enough staff were rostered on, or the hotel had difficulty recruiting staff. Breakfast each morning was manic. The few staff that were working were working really hard, but the sheer volume of customers meant that there were lots of dirty tables left uncleared, you had to ask for new bowls and plates to be replenished, orange juice had run out, granola had run out etc. I felt very sorry for the staff working as they did try their best. Overall, it felt that that management didn’t have a good grip on the overall running of the hotel. In addition to no availability of orange juice and other breakfast items, the hotel had run out of milk jiggers for the bedrooms. These are long life items, so I can’t understand how stock could be allowed to run out. We also asked for a room clean before the 12 pm required notification time and came back later in the day to find the room hadn’t been serviced. This was disappointing. Overall, I’m not sure Premier Inn offer the value for money and good service as they did before Covid. Prices are a lot higher and the things that were introduced as temporary measures during Covid like later check in times and requests for additional room servicing are still in place for the convenience of the company and not it’s guests.

Great location, plenty of parking. You will need to get a voucher from reception to scan at the parking machine,so you pay just £4. As it is a horizon car park. Check in was smooth, two really cheery guys on the desk. Who apologised for the minimal delay due to the hotel being fully booked. Room was spotless, clean & tidy. Slept great, never heard a thing. My only gripe would be a window that opens. Sometimes the stuffy room smell is a bit wiffy when you 1st walk in. The location of this premier inn is great, across the road is the train station, literally less than 1000yrds is the V&A. & a 5min walk into the town.
