Good grub and nice pint. Alan and Sharon are mein hosts and are friendly. Pub is also dog friendly which is a bonus. Quiet during week but busy at weekends. Reccomend the steak and kidney pudding or the large burger.

I recently stayed at a lovely Inn nestled under the hills and was thoroughly impressed. The hospitality was outstanding, and the accommodation was spotless. What sets this place apart is the affordability of both drinks and food – a refreshing change from other recent stays. I particularly appreciated the thoughtful touch of a dram of whisky in a glass canister in the room. The owner's warm welcome made us feel right at home. As a pet-friendly establishment, it was the perfect choice for our dog. Given that we frequently drive through this area on our travels from Caithness, we'll undoubtedly be back and will happily recommend this gem to friends. The blend of simple yet charming accommodation at an affordable price is a testament to good old-fashioned hospitality.

Food and drink was OK and not overly priced. We had a roast dinner. Manager was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Had a lovely outside space and was dog friendly. Would return if we were in the area

We were walking the Southern Upland Way when our booked B&B had to cancel at 2 days' notice because of water supply problems. I phoned Sharon and she was incredibly helpful. Booked us in to their 1 spare room and Alan took over the transfers to/from the SUW that the original B&B were going to do. They rescued our walk! Our room was very clean and comfortable with views of the fields (and rain). The pub food was excellent and we enjoyed talking to our fellow guests. A real "find". Thank you so much, Alan and Sharon, for all your hard work and hospitality.

Incredibly friendly and helpful management - went out of their way to welcome us and help us out in difficult weather. Lovely old inn full of character and a good fire. Fab food! I will definitely be back.

Called in here for a meal unexpectedly in the evening on a drive back from St Mary's Loch to Hawick. Excellent inn, lovely food and good selection of beers. The owner was very obliging and the place was lovely and clean. Food served up to 8pm and good choice of menu and very reasonably priced. The inn is out in the sticks in the Etterick Valley but is a very welcoming stop if you are hungry. Will definately call again.

Lovely room, some nice touches. Reasonably priced food and drink. Huge cooked breakfast unless you ask for something smaller! Remote place, out on its own. Nice mix of guests, all countryside lovers. TV was on in the bar, but I chatted to other guests easily. I loved it.

Booked a table as an adult family of 6. Excellent service, all meals were lovely and enjoyed by all. We also had dessert, mother-in-law blown away by the biscoff cheesecake 😊 Remote location, we were staying fairly locally, worth a run out in my opinion

We recently stayed at Tushielaw Inn for 5 nights on a walking holiday. The room was nice and clean and the owners there Allan and Sharon left some complementary whisky. The food at Tushielaw Inn of of evening was very nice, especially the homemade chips, Pork & Haggis Burger and Steak Pie. This pub officially stops serving food of an evening at 8pm, but does still serve food to residents staying there beyond 8pm. A cooked breakfast was included in the room rate and for the first 4 mornings, we had a full traditional Scottish breakfast which was very nice and on the final morning, we had porridge which we very nice also. This is a family run pub because although Allan's and Sharon's son Spud is not officially employed by this pub, he helps out a lot there in the evenings by serving drinks and taking food orders and is very friendly as well. Allan and Sharon had their grandchildren staying at Tushielaw Inn over the summer holidays who have been helping out at this pub. I would like to make a special mention to Allan's and Sharon's granddaughter Daisy who went above and beyond when we were staying at Tushielaw Inn. Daisy was always up in the morning to take our breakfast orders and we then serve us our breakfast also. Daisy quite often serves us our evening meals as well and would clear the tables both after breakfast and evening meal also. …

Came here at around 9:30 pm on a Monday night. We were following the Race Across Scotland (one of our party was running in it), which had a checkpoint in Ettrick. We were desperate for a drink and came across this lovely pub. Coming in, it was like being welcomed into a family home. We ordered drinks and the owners were asking about what we were doing in Scotland. We explained and the lady (apologises can't remember her name) said "Have any of you eaten?" to which we replied "No" and even though she had shut the kitchen, continued to make us Vegetable soup and sandwiches. Something she didn't have to do but was so kind. Her son was lovely to chat with and taught us about the local area. They even donated to our charity page for the Race which made our night, we certainly didn't expect that. The kindness of these people is amazing. If you are in the area, try this place. The friendly service on its own is a reason to visit.…
