The dog friendly part is lovely ,the walk behind the hotel is lovely , we have been to da vincis several times now ,the only thing that stops a 5 star ,is breakfast buffet style let’s itself down all pre cooked and sitting there , barely warm , no choice of eggs fried or fried, suggestion could be do less but cooked to order this buffet doesn’t not work tho the sausages are 5/5. Some little touches da vincis have stopped doing .like bottles of water in the room and a flannel with the towels in the bathroom ,these are really small things but as we’ve been regularly come to expect them from da vincis also biscuit for 1 person not 2 ? We will always return as despite breakfast it is still the best hotel in Derry and the beds are soo comfy

HI Grace, Thank you for your lovely comments, we are pleased you had a great stay minus your breakfast, which we sincerely apologise for. I will pass your feedback over to our head chef to prevent this happening again in future. I am sorry about the bits and bobs that weren't placed in your room. We provide 2 bottles of water and biscuits in every guest's room, so I will pass this on to the housekeepers to ensure this doesn't happen in future. In relation to flannels, we don't provide these within the room due to an issue with sourcing them with suppliers. We hope to welcome you back in the future, it was our pleasure having you here with us. Kind regards, Aaron

We booked into this hotel for a 2 night break. We have stayed before o it was an easy choice to return. The hotel was really good before but has improved since last time. The lady on reception switched our room for us as it wasn't suitable for me. Nothing to do with hotel and the room we got so was good. The hotel was being decorated for Halloween and it looked great. Work has been done in hotel and it has made a big difference to public areas. The food in the bar was excellent as before so we ate there both nights. I had said last time we stayed there that breakfast wasn't great but what a difference in it this time. Couldn't compare it to last time. Would definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to return.

The Da Vinci hotel is situated just on the outskirts of Derry. It is a pleasant 20 minute walk to the city centre and The Walls, either along the Quay or via the main shopping route. The hotel is well presented with a contemporary feel with modern fixtures and fittings. The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and professional. The room issued was very nice but upon request I asked for an updated room which I was aware from previous reviews that they were in the process of updating the hotel. The 2nd room was stunning. The room was beautifully presented with a standard room having two double beds. There was plenty of charging options and lighting to suit all moods. There were the expected amenities of tea/coffee, ironing and large screen TV. Extra positives for the room were the robe/slippers and a small fridge. The bathroom was modern with a large walk in shower. There were plenty of toiletries including boutique shower gels and shampoo. The room had good open WiFi with 60mbs speed. The hotel has a very enticing bar which has an old world charm. It has a beautiful antique inspired central bar surrounded by booths and private drinking areas. There is also live music played at the weekends. The restaurant was very pleasant with a two course meal set at £25. This was a more traditional Christmas menu but did not disappoint in taste. The decor and attentiveness of the staff was very welcomed and a pleasant meal was enjoyed. The same can be said for breakfast which was an open buffet style. A good array of both continental and cooked items were on offer. Overall this is a very upmarket hotel with plenty to offer both internally and in its close proximity to Derry. It was well priced and worth a return visit.

The city of Derry is a fabulous place to visit but unfortunately this hotel was not a fabulous place to stay. The location is not really convenient to the city centre being a good 25-minute walk and it overlooks a very noisy car park with trucks arriving every morning to unload. Our room was extremely tired with dirty tiles in the bathroom and a horrible plastic shower curtain around the very old-fashioned shower over a bath. The adjoining hotel restaurant was closed on one of the nights we stayed, and the breakfast was a fairly average buffet affair. The only real redeeming feature of this hotel was the bar which had a great vibe and very efficient and friendly staff. The hotel itself really needs to have an upgrade to the rooms and please get rid of the ridiculous shower in a bath situation which is unsafe and an enormous waste of space in bathrooms. Who really wants to languish in a bath in a hotel these days?

Hi Sean, Thank for leaving your feedback, we always value the thoughts and opinions of guests that stay with us to learn and grow as a business. The city centre is one mile from the hotel, approximately a 15 minute walk on average for guests. Taxis are available at the front of the hotel, which can be arranged by our reception team to take you into the city centre, approximately a 3 - 5 minute drive depending on traffic. We are a fully operational hotel, the trucks you are referring to are deliveries of goods to provide a service for our guests, without these we wouldn't be able to function as a hotel sadly. In relation to our rooms, we are currently undergoing a full refurbishment, where we will only have walk in showers for accessibility. Although, you can still shower inside the bath by adjusting taps, if you don't wish to bathe on the occasion. We are aware the bathrooms appear tired and every one will be modernised after the refurb is complete. Thank you for your lovely comments about our bar and staff members, we pride ourselves on our customer service and we are glad that it has been noticed by you. If you would like to return to the hotel in the near future, please get in touch with the us and we will upgrade you to one of our premium bedrooms. Have a lovely day. Kind regards, Aaron

We stayed in Da Vinci last Friday as a couple , over the years we have always stayed in da vincis when we have visited family in Derry . The previous occasion last autumn we felt the hotel had let itself down ever since we have stayed there the breakfast has been very poor bland cold , there used to be an option to order porridge or a poached egg but that option no longer exists. Breakfast was pre cooked and laid out and even on a Saturday morning when breakfast had just started you would have thought you were in for. A chance of some hot food no way .We arrived given room 201 , as we opened the door there was a stench( of sewage in the room ,no way would y be able to sleep with this so we called reception without unpacking and within 30 mins the staff member came up and could smell it outside the door he gave us room 209 and blocked off room 201 ,Our room was decent enough but backing on to the kitchen ,so you can hear the delivery’s ,pans and fans a lot of noise and when you open a window worse as cooking oil smells , and noise got worse ,since there no air on no choice but to open a window ..As we were told the hotel was full we were stuck with the room .Every time you walk outside the hotel there seems to be groups of people smoking at every opportunity therefore we did not want to sit outside as it was everywhere you could not sit outside to have a drink as nowhere was free from smoke being asthmatic it was a Nono. The hotel is expensive and ,becoming very run down ,the basics you would expect from a room or a breakfast were not there , on this occasion I do not think we will return as there’s absolutely no incentive to ,it’s a real shame I believed previously it was one of the best hotels in Derry .

Not good! Main door into the hotel was smashed, the lift was smelly, mirror in the lift not clean, carpet in lift stained, lobby not inviting to sit and relax in, stains on rugs and sofas. Had lunch in bar, small table for 4 people with oversized chairs (very uncomfortable). 2 of us had soup which tasted lovely (onion and thyme) until we nearly choked on all the bits of wood from the thyme at the bottom of the bowl. The bedroom was not great either, the double bed was a very small double bed. The sofa was stained! The room was not worth the price paid. We had dinner in the restaurant, nice meal but they really scrimped on the servings. 1 meal came with mash and you would have had to look hard to find it on the plate. One meal was stuffed pepper and cous cous (the cous cous wasn’t made right or left too long, very starchy). A selection of vegetables would have helped the plates to look less bland but no option or offer of vegetables. Breakfast - basic, ok! Honestly folks, there’s so much better hotels in Derry and the surrounding area - cheaper, cleaner, more facilities (pool, spa etc), with better choice and options of food for the same price or less. I know it’s dog friendly which is a plus for most dog lovers who wish to bring their furry pets but that’s about all it offers. Im a dog lover myself and own a dog but I wouldn’t be staying in a dog friendly hotel again especially not this one.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to give such detailed feedback. I sincerely apologise that you had such a poor experience. The front door was accidently smashed by a customer just over a week ago & we are awaiting the new glass. I understand this is not a great first impression but unfortunately it takes to time to get the new glass measured, manufactured & fitted. The hotel is cleaned daily, however we have had sports teams staying with us over the last few weeks, they are coming straight from wet pitches to the hotel, so it is difficult to continuously keep on top of this. I am pleased to hear you had a nice meal but sorry to hear you found the portions too small. I can assure you I will follow through all the issues you have highlighted in an effort to ensure they don't happen again. Once again my sincere apologies. Olga

Disappointing for the price. Our 2-night B&B stay a hefty 351 euro. We looked enviously at new hotel over the bridge which looked fab. Da Vinci’s is changing hands and being upgraded but kitchen limited. No bar food available. Breakfast poor. Little fresh fruit ( nasty after taste on what was possibly just topped up from day one) or healthy options. Cooked food sitting drying out for an age. Bread cheapest quality. Cold meat and cheese one choice. Coffee instant. If room 208 is upgraded then bathroom done to very poor standard. Dirty and crumbling grouting. Toilet flush loose. Door poorly painted and floor grubby. Towels old and small for showering. One of our group even had holey towel. Rain head shower only and no shower caps for folk with hair done.
Ann in reception very welcoming but will avoid this spot in future and could not recommend. Also woken by coach revving up and idling at 7. And lots of loud chat in coach section of car park. Easy fix would be to have them park further away. There is plenty of room.

Stayed 3 nights in the hotel with my husband and our dog. I have to say finding a dog friendly hotel in Derry was rather challenging so we were delighted Da Vinci’s accommodated this.
We found our Deluxe Double room on level 4 to be of a good size, perfect for us and our dog. I have to admit the price we paid however, certainly didn’t match the standard we were expecting. The bathroom in particular is in need of an upgrade, with the bath/shower combination being both outdated and not the cleanest. The bed was comfortable however, and the room itself was, albeit a bit dated in places, well equipped. Our biggest issue with the room was how incredibly warm it was. Our first night was almost unbearable even with windows fully open. In this day and age, some form of air con would go a long way to improving the warm rooms. We did receive a fan from reception free of charge which was much appreciated but were also informed many others had called down with the same complaint. This would definitely suggest air con would benefit guests.
Overall, we had a decent stay but would like to see some upgrades if we were to return again.

Hi Kathleen, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. We are the only dog friendly hotel in Derry City, something we are very proud of and we are pleased we were able to accommodate your stay. In relation to your room, we are undergoing a full refurbishment of the hotel with 60 percent of our rooms completed so far. We aim to have all rooms updated by the beginning of 2024 as things quiet down so we can do the work needed to modernise each room. In relation to the heat of the room, sadly this is out of our control when there is extremely good weather outside, something we rarely have here in Ireland. Air con isn't something that any hotel in Derry would have within their rooms for this reason, but we will take your comments on board for future reference. As you mentioned we offer fans for guests to cool down in their rooms and when possible we will offer to move guests to different rooms on lower floors to help with the heat in these situations. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and if you return to the hotel, we are happy to upgrade you to one of our newly refurbed rooms. Kind regards, Aaron

Myself and my partner stayed for one night and we had the best experience from checking in to checking out. Sorcha was extremely friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay even better. The room was so spacious and I've never stayed in a cleaner room, not as much as a spec of dust to be seen. The bed was so comfortable and so big. The shower was fantastic. One of the best nights sleep I have had in a hotel. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was absolutely deliciou, the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The girl who delivered it to the room was extremely polite and very pleasant. Finally on check out Sorcha & Rachael were so friendly, lovely and polite. I would definitely recommend my family and friends to stay here and we will be returning for sure.

The rooms in this hotel have been massively improved since my last stay.
I stayed in a standard room on the ground floor which was unusual in having 2x double beds on it. Modern massive screen TV, good desk area, excellent blackout curtains and there wa snot much intrusive noise from outside.
The view from the room was not great, it was ground floor and it was of a path with some junk on it.
No bath in the room but did have a decent rainfall shower. Toiletries were almost nonexistent, two bars if soap.
Did have bath robes which is unusual for a standard room. Didn't have a mini fridge in a room which was a shame but not all that unusual for a standard room.
The corridors and public areas were clean but these bits didn't appear to have changed much since my last visit. The bar area was comfortable and a pleasant space to be in, I only had a drink didn't eat so can't comment on the food.
Free parking here which is good. There is also a row of eateries like subway round the corner and it's a reasonable walk or quick drive to Sainsbury's if required.
I would definitely stay here again.

Hi Jamie, Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to have you return to the hotel after so many years! I'm sorry to hear you felt there was an insufficient amount of toiletries, for an overnight stay each room will be supplied with two bars of soap, two shower gels, two conditioners and two toilet rolls, which guests tend to find sufficient until they check out the following morning. In the off chance where a guest runs out, more can be supplied if you contact our reception dialing 0 on your room phone. We won't have baths in any room within the hotel shortly as a shower is more accessible for guests upon conducting a survey. Our rooms are currently under going a full refurbishment, so if you return and stay with us in 2024 you will be in a brand new, modern room. Thank you for highlighting our public areas being kept clean, our housekeepers are a credit to the hotel and I will pass this on to their manager. Our car park in complimentary to all guests and we are the only hotel with this perk on the city centre side of the River Foyle. We would love to welcome you back again in the near future. Kind regards, Aaron

Hello --if i wanted to stay in Derry's city center i would suggest 3 other hotels City-Hotel; Shipquay-street-Hotel; Bishop's Gate-Hotel. Da vinic's -Hotel is about 15-20 mins, walk from city centre otherwise you might consider a Taxi and that might take some waiting time
There are more places to choose from in the Derry area.
