The Maldron Hotel Derry is often celebrated for its prime location that puts guests within easy reach of local nightlife and attractions. While the rooms are recognized for their comfort and cleanliness, some guests feel that the decor could use refreshing. The hotel's atmosphere is generally considered warm and inviting, despite some outdated touches. Service at the hotel is typically described as friendly and attentive, although the dining service can occasionally be slow. The comprehensive breakfast is a highlight for many, though limited parking and some dated amenities have been noted. Guests appreciate the overall cleanliness, especially the spotless rooms and well-kept bathrooms, but opinions on value vary with some citing affordability and others pointing out a desire for more amenities.

Myself and my partner recently attended

our friends wedding at the hotel and treated ourselves to an overnight stay. The staff were always on hand to assist with anything we needed, kept checking at the table if we had enough water etc. We had a great view of the city from our room, the bed was so comfortable, sheets smelled really fresh and the bathroom was completely spotless. We will definitely stay again!

Top class service from the Maldron Derry.

Me and my partner came to Derry for the weekend and choose the Maldron and what a decision it was

The receptionist checked us in smoothly and explained everything to us in a great manner.

Barstaff were quick and friendly - especially Rico!

We were lucky enough to get the suite on the top floor and what can I say… PERFECT. Clean, spacious, lovely views, great bed, bathroom facilities were perfect and generally overall 5 star room

Paul Truscott was brilliant - very welcoming and went over and beyond to make us feel comfortable into this fantastic hotel. First class management

We will be back with Maldron and can’t wait for the next visit!

The hotel is very centrally located in Derry, within easy walk to everything. The hotel room is very spacious with a very comfortable bed, they also had an iron/ ironing board in the room, the bathroom towels are quite small. Upon arriving we were asked what time we would like to go for dinner and breakfast. When I phoned later that evening- as I forgot the time, reception put me through to the restaurant where they didn't answer and when I asked reception to ring me back to let me know the time - they didn't ring back. Went to the bar before dinner, no one serving behind the bar, waited a while before leaving and going to a pub down the road. At breakfast , stood at the desk for a while before anyone came over to take our room number. They did have a little separate selection for gluten free items in the far corner which you could miss- but great to see it. The car park was full when we arrived and we were directed a few minutes walk away, charged at 80p an hour be sure to have the change as we were overcharged on the app.

All in all, nice stay. Bed very comfortable. Even though there was a very loud wedding party our first night stay, we seemed to be on a quiet floor. Can't say though that we have ever had to ask any front desk to have heat in our room turned on during our stay. Paying 4-star prices after-all so we should be able to control temperatures as we see comfortable for ourselves. 4-star hotels should have laundry service full-time, not part-time as this hotel does. Location is most excellent in the city. Parking is limited and is first come, first served. Paid parking within a couple of blocks. Breakfast buffet very complete and satisfying. Most of staff friendly and helpful.

Not a 4 star hotel. No one to help with luggage, get the cart yourself. No room service, no ice service, get it yourself at the adjoining bar downstairs, no mini bar, no heat, no Kleenex, no toiletries. Shower drain was clogged and stall was small and moldy. The location was excellent within the walled city and the staff did respond quickly to our requests to clear the shower drain and provide kleenex and extra towels. The room was large and had a fantastic view. The decor was cheap but acceptable. The room was upgraded upon our check in without us making that request. So the experience was not all bad during out 2 night stay. The owners are running this place on a shoestring budget, so don’t expect 4 star treatment. The staff is doing the best they can within the confines of poor policies. This hotel is over rated by Trip Advisor. S. Clark, Los Angeles

Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately the car park was full when we arrived however we parked a 5 min walk away in the Foyle Road car park which was really cheap. Room was very nice and big, radiator was warm and there was also a fan. The beds was huge and very comfortable. There was only one USB on one side of the bed, and no sockets other than on the desk which was on the other side of the room. We were really disappointed with the "view" out the room which was also littered (we were in room 110). We also had to keep the curtains closed due to someone being on the scaffolding and able to see in. Hotel was in a great location and close to bars, restaurants and local sightseeing places. Unfortunately due to the view I don't think we'd book this hotel in this location again.

We welcome all guest feedback provided regarding our rooms, and I am pleased it had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Regarding the view, I do apologise you found it to be unsatisfactory. Having just returned from a weekend stay at the Derry Maldron between 21st & 24th February, I would thoroughly recommend this establishment for anyone considering staying in the city. The hospitality received & courtesy extended to us was first class. This was evident throughout the Hotel, from bar staff, restaurant staff & all persons on Main Reception. Whilst we only booked B&B & could not comment on evening fayre, the breakfast was excellent with the menu providing much variety in Full Irish or Continental cuisine. The Hotel was spotless and in an ideal location for local pubs & restaurants. With a well-equipped health suite on the 4th floor, the hotel is fully deserving of its 4-star rating. We were also afforded excellent service following our departure when hotel staff located a lost item we had left behind in our room. This was despatched to us free gratis on the same day of reporting. In a nutshell, the Maldron provided Irish hospitality, second to none!

Distinct lack of any real customer service, check in and check out all online. Carpet throughout very grubby for a 4 star hotel. Dining room very cold, my husband had to put on his coat during our meal. I ordered a chicken burger which was raw in the middle. My husband had to wait 30 minutes after finishing his main course before a desert came out despite asking a few times, he wasn't the only one who was not happy, there seemed to be alot of problems in the kitchen. Before we checked out I checked my bank account and an additional charge had been made, when I queried this wit reception I was told that it was for wine with my evening meal, the wine should have been included in my package! Such a shame for the hotel as it is in a great location but customer service and kitchen definitely need alot of attention

Booked here for a Hen weekend for my sister. 8 of us in total in 3 rooms. Arrival was great. We arrived early and went to ask the code for parking and the lady on reception told us our rooms were ready and we could check in early which was great!

Rooms were fine - not perfect. Mine had a long black hair in the bath, chewing gum stuck to the ironing board and bits of mould behind the taps in the bath. Just a few small things that let it down. The rooms however were huge and really spacious.

Location is amazing everything within walking distance. Lots of road noise and no AC so windows were open to let air in. Most of us slept fine didn't overly affect our sleep.

As part of our package we had dinner with bottomless cocktails. The service in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. The staff were so friendly and constantly asking if we needed any more drinks. Food was really nice too. Breakfast on both mornings everything you could want. Both hot and cold options.

When we had returned to the hotel fairly late on with a takeaway, the night person offered to get plates for us to take to our rooms which was really lovely! Normally hotels don't allow food to the rooms but this was great the girls loved it!

Because we were a Hen party (a fairly Conservative party may I add) each room had to pay a £50 security deposit on check in which was no issue and we were made aware on booking. On checkout however I felt the receptionist was slightly rude and told the bride to 'take a seat' and wait while they check the rooms to see if we would get our deposit back. She was no where near as friendly as every other member of staff which we had came into contact with. It was fairly off putting if I am honest.

The price of the package which we booked was really reasonable all of the girls could not believe the value for money for the weekend.

Overall a really positive experience - I normally stay in the Everglades when I visit Derry but in future I will absolutely be staying here!
