Hotel's Favourite
Stayed in the Crowne Plaza for a business & social visit to Belfast. The hotel facilities are excellent, the rooms and social areas immaculate and of an excellent standard of comfort.
I ate in the bar restaurant and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
But the stand out detail for me was my checking in experience. As a solo traveller I very much appreciated Melissa who on checking me in ensured I was comfortable with the room location. This was hugely appreciated and is what makes this hotel a stand out destination for me.

We stayed two days at the hotel and it was brilliant!
Naomi on reception got us a complimentary upgrade as she saw it was my birthday and made sure everything was perfect for us.
The room was spotless and well presented the card in the room read that Monika had cleaned it and she did an amazing job at that.
We ate from the river bar menu and really enjoyed the salmon in particular.
We go to the Plaza whenever we get the chance and we are never disappointed. This was the best stay so far and I just want to commend the hotel on their fantastic staff.
We really look forward to coming again as soon as possible!

Two night stay with 2 childern. This is a 3star hotel at best..view from family room overlooked a side roof which was a bit of a disappointment. No adequate ventilation in the room. Windows, sills and header all dripping in condensation. Rooms are also quite small for a family room..poor hair dryer provided, no toilet brush in toliet, mattresses stained and way to soft, you felt like you're head was always at a much lower level to your feet.
Pool facilities were ok..deepest it goes to is 1.2mtrs which is fine for kiddies but not great for an adult swim.
Breakfast was average, no natural daylight in dining room and floor looked like it hadn't been hovered since the day before. Not a great selection of fruits and no salad option available what so ever..not even slices of cucumber which was disappointing.
Bar food is very disappointing also unless you order the roast of the day. We ate there twice and value for money way terrible. Five so called battered prawns the size of a 1 piece piece cost £9.50 which we could not get our heads around. Roast of the day was nice so no complaints therer. It was very under staffed in areas and constantly having to ask a member of staff for menus, drinks, food order to be taken etc. The expectations of this hotel fell way short of what we had envisaged. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone else..there is way better value for your buck out there people so make sure to shop around.

Dear Kbannon10603, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we're terribly sorry to learn that your stay did not live up to your expectations. We strive to deliver a pleasant experience to all our guests and we value you sharing these insights that we might focus our attention on the areas we can improve on. I believe your room was above our swimming pool, extra attention is taken to ensure rooms in this location are ventilated. Our maintenance and housekeeping teams work together to limit condensation but certainly from your experience additional checks are needed. We will strive to better manage this. These are twin rooms and I'm sorry you found the room to be small. We will review the mattress in your room, thank you for bringing this to our attention. Thank you for your feedback on breakfast, I will pass your suggestion for cucumber and other salad items onto our Chef. I'm pleased to know you enjoyed our roast dinner option in River Bar. We welcome your feedback too on how our food offering could be improved. Our operations manager, together with our bar manager and Chef, will work to improve the areas you had highlighted. We will strive to maintain our service standards at busy times and we will review our offering with value for money in mind. Thank you for choosing Crowne Plaza Belfast and for taking the time to share your feedback. Kind regards, Stephanie Tokaji Hotel Experience Manager

This is the view from the room, below. You'll note the condensation on the windows and black mould along the top - very unhealthy and dangerous, particularly for small children. There was also a pool of water on the window sill.
More annoyingly, we initially found the hotel on booking.com: one night with no breakfast was about €140, to include breakfast was €197 - so, I rang up to seek a better deal directly, if possible. They suggested I signed up for their free membership which was to bring the price to €167.81, but when we payed at the hotel were charged sterling not euro, which came to €210, more than the original booking.com price. We debated this once we realised and were told the only quote in sterling, despite the fact it is in Euro on booking and that was the basis of the initial phone booking. That phone call was recorded, as I reminded them at reception, yet got satisfaction and were told they would be back in touch. Still waiting to be contacted after a month. Hopefully a member of staff will actually see this.
Don't be fooled by the official website photos. The pool area was also cold and about three quarters of it was cordoned off for lessons. The food in the restaurant was bland and over priced. The breakfast was the same, and some kind of manager was busying himself getting on to the staff, in front of guests, over small things like the positioning of items. Not exactly what you want when you go to any hotel.

Dear markrM2384FW, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am truly sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your recent stay. Please accept our sincerest apologises for the concerns regarding the room condition. A healthy environment, cleanliness and guest comfort must be our priority; particularly when we are accommodating small children. We will ensure our maintenance team addresses the condensation and mould issue. Rooms above our swimming pool are more likely to be impacted, and we will establish a robust procedure of checking and treating these rooms to maintain a better standard. It’s disappointing that the exchange rate issue led to confusion and frustration. When searching on Booking.com pricing is shown in your home currency, for your convenience. The hotel does not offer euro rates, all our rates are in our GBP as this is our currency. Different websites may convert it but we can not control the conversion rates. We will review the process of booking directly with our central reservations team, to look for ways to improve transparency on currency. I apologise that you were waiting for a response from the hotel. We also appreciate your comments about the pool area and restaurant. We are committed to providing a comfortable and pleasant guest experience, please be assured your feedback about the pool temperature and food quality will be shared with management to ensure improvements are made. Thank you again for sharing your feedback Mark, we sincerely apologise for not meeting your expectations. Kind regards, Stephanie Tokaji Hotel Experience Manager

Just stayed here for two nights as a short break away before the girls go back to school.. Normally we would frequent another well known hotel in the city centre but I felt it is overpriced and needs a overhaul..
As soon as you walk into the Crown plaza you are greeted with a beautiful open plan foyer, the staff at reception are fantastic and professional. We had a deal with breakfast and dinner included, the staff in the restaurant are great and are very attentive, we were not disappointed, the evening meal was beautiful, it’s a type of fusion restaurant which serves both Indian and general cuisine.. The buffet breakfast was top class serving carvery food, cereals , fruits and pastries.. The rooms are spotless, modern and warm.. There is also a swimming pool, gym and sauna. Parking is free and not a long drive into town but taxis are available at all times approx £7 into city centre.. overall our experience was positive and are going back in December for the Christmas markets.. We would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed over in this hotel after an event in the SSE Arena and I have to say passing other hotels on the way for the 10/15minute drive; it was definitely worth it. We have stayed in a lot of hotels in Northern Ireland and this is one of the best for sure- definitely in my top 3! The staff were so friendly, attentive and accommodating, the chef insisted on making me some scrambled eggs without cream at breakfast just topped it of! The breakfast has absolutely everything, the biggest in selection and quality; good gluten free options, cheeses, meats, mackerel, 9 fruits, seed, breads and specialty coffee machines. The rooms are very clean with modern decor and spacious with extremely comfortable beds, the bathrooms have good quality products and fitted with consideration having ample towels. I loved the spacious shower with the large shower head and the light under the sink was a nice touch as at night it was enough without having to put on the big light when I was half asleep! Throughly enjoyed our stay, will definitely be back and highly recommend for anyone considering a stay in Belfast. Well done to all staff, you make Belfast and IHG proud!

This hotel is not worth the money!
Appalling service, with what I can only describe as lack of enthusiasm by staff and managerial skill to run an efficient service, this specific to the restaurant. The manager was rude and laughed at me when I asked for a refund. Service was extremely slow, dessert menu offered 2hr 20mins after sitting, although my son and I asked numerous staff for the menu. Table not cleared of empty glass for the three hours we were seated.
Restaurant bookings couldn’t be made until after 8pm, although only limited bar food menu and not suitable, nor healthy for children.
I spoke with another guest, who herself said the same, and also agreed the money paid for rooms is not worth it. Explaining they too could only be seated in the restaurant at 9pm on the evening of their arrival, and they too had two small children, and no food to be got for the kids.
Not exactly a family friendly hotel!!
A lady in the breakfast buffet returned her breakfast because she found a long hair in her meal, no apology given, she was asked what else she would like and the staff continued about their business.
My son found a sticky lolly and toy underneath the bed in our room, which was not ours, but left a feeling of disgust that the room was not clean..
I was locked out of my room, when asking to be let in by the accommodation staff, I was informed by the staff “I no speak English”.
On a positive note, the shower change rooms were spotless, and food in the restaurant could not be faulted, just the service.
I’m still waiting to hear about my refund, I was offered a nights stay at half price, which to be frank, I would not stay there again.
I find it appalling that a four star hotel could offer me this, expecting I pay money again for such poor service!!

We visited from England for a weekend. Booked and paid for a room for 3 adults. The room was not set up for 3 people at all. Had to call reception twice. The second night we ate in the bar and the guest with a mushroom allergy was assured that the teriyaki salmon would be fine, unsure if it was cross contamination or poorly cooked salmon but was violently ill throughout the evening. We booked this hotel so we could use the pool facilities during the stay however on numerous occasions it was too busy to book a slot and advised to keep calling back. Second day had to call reception again as the third person's things that had been brought to us when we called had been cleared away again. Noone came so had to call again just to get a cup for a drink and a cot arrived instead. Tried to call to speak to a manager and raised things during our stay, 4 times to reception and three times to healthclub, have also emailed since returning home.

Average but comfortable rooms at luxury prices. This hotel runs like a Butlin's holiday camp, with tour buses being the standard and mega crowds. As someone paying £200 a night for what was on offer I resented being told I had to book a time for breakfast, presumably to let their bus parties in!
Bed was comfortable but the usual cheapskate nonsense of eco principles with travellodge soap dispensers. A bar of soap and toiletries would be expected. The dispensers on the bath are OK for a shower but unable to be reached when in the bath.
Profit over pleasure rules! As an individual traveller it doesn't work.

Dear crawford g, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review regarding your recent stay at the hotel. I'm sorry to hear that you found the breakfast reservation system inconvenient. Our intention behind implementing such a system is to ensure that all guests have a pleasant dining experience without having to contend with overcrowding or long wait times. However, your feedback is duly noted, and we will explore alternative solutions to improve the breakfast experience for our individual travelers. We are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint, which is why we have opted for eco-friendly amenities such as soap dispensers. However, I understand that personal preferences vary, and I apologize if this aspect of our offering did not meet your expectations.
