The Celtic Royal Hotel & Spa garners praise for its cleanliness and central location with the bonus of complimentary parking, though some guests note inconsistencies in cleanliness and atmosphere. While the pool and spa are highlights, opinions on the hotel's value and room conditions vary, with some citing hidden costs and dated decor.
Service experiences also differ, with commendations for staff friendliness vying with critiques of inefficiency.

We booked for a few nights in here, and the hotel is a lovely building with decent bedrooms. No complaints about the hotel maintenance. Our room was clean, decent size, comfortable beds, warm inside. The breakfast was ok lots of chooses for meat-eater not much as for vegetarians and vegans.( I know because I asked for vegetarians options).
The front desk staff very nice people, friendly ,helpful and professional We were really pleased with them. The cleaners are doing a great job, well done! 👍🏻The restaurant staff are ok, except few girls they were looking ”lost ”and just walking up and down the room when 4 tables was full of previous costumers cutlery. Our table was full of bread crumbs.More attention to detail it will be very welcoming.
Unfortunately we didn't had a nice experience at the Bistro Bar. We had few drinks on the first day, out table was full of empty glasses and no one came to pick them just after an hour. Next day we ordered few melas, again no one asking how was the food or if we need something. What we were really disappointed with was two members of staff( guy and girl) behaviour was not professional, I agree speak in your own language but to be aware around. They were speaking in their native language (not meaning welsh) as the staff I'm talking about sounds polish. Talking loud and laughing behind the bar and kitchen between them, we noticed other clients feeling uncomfortable as well. They really avoided our table and we decided to walk away and have our next meal in town. They should give more attention to the clients and to make sure the tables and chairs are clean. That was very disappointing for us. Hats off to the young welsh girl in the bistro bar 10/10 very attentive but couldn't do everything by herself. 👍🏻This is no way meant in a racist manner just if these things was addressed then would be really excellent.

Hotel nice, rooms ok very spacious, breakfast a little odd,hot food not in the dining room but opposite the reception unattended, pool nice although regular guests was eating fruit in the pool..very odd,bar staff not very good,I ordered a £7.50 very berry gin cocktail I got gin, soda and a slice strawberry,I had to wait 30mins for, when questioned they said they had no mixed berries or fruit juice!! Staff need to smile more especially waiters/waitresses very miserable in the dining room except one waiter which didn't stop smiling.if rooms updated and bar was correctly run we would return.

We spent 5 enjoyable days here as part of a coach tour. It is a traditional hotel which actually exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean and very quiet. We had no view but the beds were fine. The shower room was somewhat basic with a single drench head shower. The full Welsh breakfast each morning was excellent, being well stocked and self service. The dinners in the evening were also very good with a menu with several choices available. The hotel was obviously full during our visit but dinner service by the smart, well trained young staff kept things moving.
There is an excellent indoor pool in the basement but we had no time to use it.unfortunately. All in all, a very well run, comfortable, traditional hotel. One tip would be if you are elderly or infirm, try not to get booked on the top 3rd floor. There is only one lift and it conked out on our last day. The three flights of stairs on the beautiful oak staircase presented quite a challenge.
One final bonus, there is a small but discreet Asda supermarket directly across the road from the hotel, perfect for all those forgotten toiletries and lunch snacks.

unfortunately I had to stay here because of work so wasn't my choice at all. The entrance of hotel and its decor is nice and quaint, but that's the best and last of the good part of it.
Rooms are very outdated, with horrible curtains and carpet, the bathroom good do with a real clean (eventhough they stated in was sanitised it wasn't really clean even the room telephone heard clumps of dusk in the cord (thank God I brought my own dettol wipes).
Breakfast wasn't great (the only good part was they brought it to your room) toast was hard and cold, poached egg had not run was more a boiled egg. Tea cup and cutlery dirty both mornings.
The resturant service was disgraceful, slow, gave us dirty glasses (seems to be a reoccurring theme) and a prosecco bottle that they seem to thing we could magically take the cork out with our teeth.
The kitchen closes at 9pm and at 8:45pm they stop taking orders we had been working all day (and everywhere around the hotel restaurants close at 8pm) at 8:47 we asked to please order 4 meals and was turned down because we were 2 mins out of the kitchen close time. We asked the reception to ask the manager considering we arr staying here in 12 rooms and even spending money at the bar and rented a room for work, (which we had just finished) and was still turned away and asked if we wanted sandwiches FOR DINNER !
Ridiculous
Would never stay here again, they need a revamp and training in customer service satisfaction.
Its a shame because only 2 people that worked at reception (one with an Canadian accent and another lady) were actually nice and wasted working here.

As usual a very good experience at the Celtic Royal. All staff encountered very friendly and efficient. Felt very covid safe, staff in masks/visors, surfaces regularly sanitised. Food in both restaurant and bar to a high standard. Atmosphere in bar good. Only complaint is the lighting in the bedroom was poor. Take a torch so you can see in the wardrobe!!!!!

Paid over £100 for a double room, room was dirty, mold on shower, sink cracked and chipped, bedding had stains on it, over all room was tired and could have done with a good clean, despite the sticker on the door claiming DEEP CLEAN carried out. Breakfast was a shambles, totally crazy, combination of poor service from staff, and having to self serve for cooked breakfast requiring walking through 3 rooms of people with hot plate of food and pushing through the q of people waiting to enter, very bad system. asked for some coffee it never came, asked again 10 mins later never came, asked on the way out again and asked if we could have it in the lounge area, waited 10 mins, then went and asked again, eventually got it in takeaway cups, no sugar or milk, was told to go to reception for these, did so and they had none, very poor customer service. only good thing i can say is the location is good.

Stayed here in August 2020 with our two teenage kids, in two adjoining rooms. Rooms very spacious, comfortable beds (on the small side but not a major issue). Bathrooms perfectly adequate but could do with a refresh, I’d describe the whole hotel this way - it has a dated charm about it, and we were very comfortable, but it could do with updating in some areas. Breakfast was generally good standard but given the COVID restrictions had to be taken at pre-booked slots and not all items were available. Waiting staff in bar very attentive and helpful, not so much in the restaurant. Food for other meals a very good standard, and a good selection of beers available. Onsite parking plentiful even if it was busy, and the location of the hotel is very convenient for the town and restaurants. Overall I would recommend a stay here, we enjoyed it, but you need to be comfortable with a few rough edges, none of which will ruin your stay!

Bit of a rickety old retro hotel that's been refurbished but can never quite get rid of the creaky floors. The room was cold and hard to heat, and the bath was missing a plug, the intent clearly being that people take a more economical shower. The bed was enormous (far too large), styled as a king but actually two twin beds pushed together. The breakfast had a good selection but on the first day it was quite cold. The second day it was much better.

We stayed at the Celtic Royal Hotel on part of a road trip of The Wales coast. The hotel is greatly situated and the hotel has obviously had a lot of money spent on it as the refurbishments have made it look very fresh, airy. As are the rooms. The bar staff were very helpful and well mannered. However, this is when I have to raise a negative. Upon our arrival the receptionist was very brusque. She abruptly informed us to log in our car details and if we didn’t, we could expect a heavy fine. She then went on to ask us when we would like breakfast only to be told on several times we couldn’t have that time due to time slots already taken. We had to ask what times were available, which were either at 7:00am or after 10:30am. Which weren’t acceptable. I understand there is a problem with social distancing and am willing to accept not getting in. However, how to deliver the unfortunate bad timings is paramount if you want to ensure your customers/clients are made important and valued. I do think a little training is required here.

the hotel is very nice and in a good position. The room was small but adequate. We arrived early and were allowed to check the car into the carpark prior to checking into the room. The reception staff (female) were very helpful. When we checked into our room there were no towels. We informed reception and they apologised and said some would be sent up. About 15 minutes later there was a knock at the door and a young man offered us two hand towels and said there were no bath towels. I said we wanted to have a shower so we needed bath towels...he said there were toweling robes in the room . There were not. I said this wasn't acceptable and he went away. About 20 minutes later he returned with two, somewhat crumpled, but clean, bath towels. Later on, when passing through reception I hear the receptions tell some other member of staff that there were no towels left. Breakfast was good. Checkout was very poor. Two young men were at the checkout, both very occupied with paperwork. I waited, They had seen me, but they took no notice of me. I had to say 'Excuse me I would like to check out' before they paid me any attention. I won't be going back. As this room was costing £159 per night, I think this was pretty poor service.
