Very well kept place. Clean and comfortable. Priced sensibly and very conveniently placed. I tried different hotels in Bangor with mixed results. This one always delivers what is expected. Maybe not the cheapest, but totally worth it.

50% of the meals that were received were sub-standard. As the Director of the centre that hosted this event I was embarrassed for the guest that we had invited. Hot pot had handful of ready made crisps on top, the 5 bean casserole looked like cat food, gnocchi appeared to be fried and served with baby food, quinoa salad was swimming in stock, dairy free poached pear served with cream, and vegetarian melon served with parma ham.

Stayed due to looking at the uni open day. Very convenient location. Lovely building. Clean, warm and friendly and close to all amenities. Restaurant was very nice. Staff very helpful and full of information. Rooms were in slightly confusing locations but overall a great place to stay.

It was a bit of a puzzle finding the car park and then reception isn’t quite where you expect it to be, but generally a good ‘find’ if you’re staying in Bangor. Big rooms, hot showers, the room I had was nice and quiet, and a good buffet-type breakfast with a nice view out over the Menai Strait.

I was really looking forward to this stay.

I travelled to Bangor with a couple I had known most of my life, and we were booked into the hotel in rooms next door to each other, with a view of the straits.

Sadly upon check-in, we were told that they had already given away one of our rooms to someone else and we would not be able to stay next door to each other. The excuse given, and repeated three times, was that the person who booked our rooms more than two months prior,Gwion, had left the employ of the hotel, and had not logged everything in properly. This was handled very poorly, and the staff had very little enthusiasm about accommodating us. Just repeating the story about the previous employee...

The room I was allocated was awful. Dark and dingy, and so hot as to be unbearable, even with the windows all open. The staff this time blamed the current warm climate, and offered little help. I opted for the only other available room, on a different floor from my friends, as otherwise I would be looking for another hotel...

The room I stayed in finally was like student accommodation, but was habitable. The double bed was composed of two singles pushed together, as is often done, except in this case the join in the beds was prominent and uncomfortable. The en-suite was adequate but very cramped. The towels were not replaced after the first nights stay - instead they were left hanging in the bathroom by the cleaning staff, ostensibly to dry out and air. I have never seen this before.

Originally we had booked in to eat in the dining room on the night we arrived, but the stench of burned chip-fat coming from the kitchen was off-putting so we cancelled and ate at an excellent Indian Restaurant on the High Street instead.
Breakfast was good - standard full Welsh with additional fruit and pastries.

Very disappointing. A nice view of the Menai Straits does not forgive the rest of the problems here. My biggest issue was with the total indifference of the staff. This was amateur hour at its finest
Thank Don R
