Stayed here as a group of friends after the horror of lockdown. Weird location as entrance is not clearly labelled and so we all missed it. Drive round to come back is a bit long winded. Once in, check in was easy. Rooms were all in a line. However no internal phones so every time we needed or wanted something we had to physically go down to reception which was annoying. Also bathroom needs updating as floor was grimy looking, sink had a crack in it and the shower looked pretty old too. Staff were super friendly and accommodated our needs regarding breakfast though it is limited. Would we stay there again...probably not as it does need a revamp and is currently a bit of a let from the usual standards that you expect of a HiE.
A warm and friendly welcome with stress free check-in. Everything was clearly explained including the changes due to Covid 19 Our room was more then big enough for two people. Whilst the room was comfortable, the bed and the pillows were very uncomfortable, and we did not get any sleep. We booked a non refundable room with breakfast included. We found breakfast to be good especially as you do not pay extra for it. A good range for breakfast including Scrambled egg, Bacon, Sausages and tomato's . If you are looking for a full English, this hotel may not be for you., however it met our needs. Star city is across the road from the hotel with numerous places to eat. We felt safe during our stay and I felt the hotel was Covid secure. Very friendly, polite, helpful and professional staff. We enjoyed our stay but shame about the bed.…
£44 for my husband and I to stay for a night. Expected a charge for the dog (as per I do on website) but did not expect a charge of £40!!!!! Even the receptionist was apologetic. Utterly crazy. Booked into a Travelodge instead for £53 which included the dog. Pretty angry that the cost wasn't made clear on the website as we were tired after the long journey. Won't be using Holiday Inn again, dog or no dog
Stayed twice now and would happily stay again. Rooms are clean and tidy and no fault with breakfast either. Staff are helpful and polite. Covid precautions seem to have been achieved to the best as is possible.
I stayed here for almost 2 weeks with work and unfortunately I was left disappointed. Staff/Service With the exception of 2 members of staff who were very friendly (I didn’t get their names unfortunately) the staff were not great. I genuinely felt like I was annoying them when approaching the reception or bar. One night one member of staff who was on duty was dying another member of staffs hair in the office. I almost wanted to apologise for interrupting. Service Charge This hotel now charge 10% service on everything including 1 drink?! I was advised this was compulsory. I then went on to advise that it says different on their website. The reply I received was ‘if you don’t want to give staff extra, fine. It doesn’t even come to us anyway’. Breakfast Breakfast was pretty bad. I understand that changes had to be made due to Covid - although surely this doesn’t mean good quality. Everywhere without fail I received a cold bap. General Help I asked where the nearest shop was to be told ‘I don’t know’. Again not her fault but surely you would make a reasonable attempt to find out? Experience Overall a poor experience and I would not recommend anyone working away from home to stay here. Poor show! …
