The place shouldnt be open. There is never a receptionist and the one who was there acted lie he didt want to be. Everything I asked him for was met with annoyance and he acted as if he was doing me a favour. A lot of things he said made it sound as if he thought they were the only place open and I was lucky to be there. I also found him nosy for someone who seemed disinterred in being open. The place is noisy and minimalistic. If there an alternative you should pick that and save your money. Their advertising makes the place look bright and relaxing and comforting. I an ibis budget would have served me better. A waste of money
Where do I begin? So I have arrived at the hotel and had to buzz the bell like 10 times, until I called them and member of staff let me in. When I entered the reception, it was so unhygienic. Dirty floors, outrageous during Covid-19 pandemic. Entering the room which I booked, I was surprised because it was nothing like on the photos. It was cold in the room and it had a bad working heater, which didn't heat up the room at all. Under the bed had dust and other nasty crumbles... The table was dirty as well and had chewing gum on it. The bathroom was awful, floor was disgusting to look at... Shower wasn't clean either. I would not recommend going there, even if you want to spend one night. Not worth the money or your time.
I have never had such an awful experience. Dirty, unwelcoming and should have remained closed due to covid. They only had 1 member of staff who was looking after the hotel. My son and I stayed alone as we were attending a funeral. One night our door was nearly kicked in by a drunk guest. I had to call the police. The hotel have a duty of care to its guests and this was not shown. When calling the staff members mobile phone he did not even answer. The hotel is nothing like the picture. There was no offer of even a cup of tea or a bottle of water. Substandard and awful customer services If they unable to offer a service due to covid they should have remained closed. I've never been so unsafe in a hotel and I will not stop until I get a full refund.
We both checked in and stayed at Selina Birmingham on 17th August for one night. The hotel was nicely presented and we appreciated the politeness of the receptionist. We entered our room, and it seemed clean and tidy which we liked. We had to set off for London at 6am, so had to be up at 5am. Unfortunately, we didn't have a good night sleep, due to the noise from what seem to be a large set door slamming constantly for an hour. This racket was consistently carried out for an hour and we hoped would have been stopped by a member of staff. I don't know where and why there was such a disturbance but we didn't enjoy our sleep due to this. We also checked out at 6am, but there wasn't anyone at the desk, we called the number on the door. We were very rudely spoken to a security guard on the phone, which seemed to just have woken from a nap. I followed it up with the manager, via email. We were told the building was old and it is expected. She also mentioned the night security sleeps in house over night, and was woken during his shift. I find this reasoning laughable and not acceptable from a senior member of staff. Nothing was offered to redeem any trust to returning here, I wouldn't reccomend staying here if you intend on having a good night's sleep. …
Very nice hostel come hotel, excellent staff, some quirky guests, but this is the modern plague times, covid lock down. The only negative is the doors with the self closers are not adjusted properly, and tend to slam, but I'm slowly adjusting them,
