Checked into the Ibis Styles Hagley road for work purposes. On arrival we were pleased to see that the bar was open and that there was some outdoor seating available. After depositing our bags in the rooms we met downstairs in order to procure a drink. Unfortunately for us the woman who was covering reception and the bar clearly had different ideas as she continued to spend a further 10 - 15 minutes on her mobile on what we could clearly hear was a personal call. Once we had been out to eat I retired to my cramped hot room (£55 for the night so I could forgive that) I was pleased to see that there was plenty of sanitiser and COVID signing and I thought great they are taking cleanliness seriously. During the night I woke to find that due to the sheets not really being big enough for the bed the corner of the sheet had come off to reveal the stuff of nightmares. Hair and plenary of it, mysterious stains, and a mattress cover that looked like it should have been binned years ago. Suffice to say I did not get any more sleep. I rose early to shower scrub away the grime from a night on that bed and by this point was not surprised to find a shower with the dirt and hair of the previous occupant in it. I didn’t dare accept the bagged breakfast on offer following that experience. I stayed here for two nights for work. The hotel was a couple of miles from where I was working so perfect for me and a TGI Fridays jugs down the road for click and collect. Check in was straight forward and the staff were very friendly. My room was a decent size and very clean. Parking is available and free once you register your car details.
Daniel the hotel manager is very helpful - difficult times for hotels and the staff manage the covid situation well with good humour - rooms are clean and functional - good beds and hot shower - good value
