I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. I had dinner in the bistro on the first night and the service from Chloe and Abi was phenomenal - so friendly and pleasant and they went above and beyond to make our evening special!

Booked last minute for Burns Night and Lakes Whisky Event. Cannot praise Andy and his team enough, fantastic night from start to finish and such good value for money. Food, wine, whiskey and ambiance were exceptional a very Intimate evening for 12 people in a private dining room. We also stayed the night and the bedroom did not disappoint, exceptionally clean and comfortable, with a fantastic roll top bath. Had a great night's sleep followed by a lovely breakfast. I cannot recommend the Newcastle Hotel Du Vin enough you will not be disappointed. Can't wait to visit again.

We had a 3 course lunch with presentation in the Bistro and we were very well looked after by Andrew Shiels-Redfearn and his team. Would thoroughly recommend them. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a mid week break when grandparents kindly offered childcare! It was the most perfect overnight stay for tired parents! We stayed in a suite with a roll top bath. The room was spotlessly clean with nice touches like Loctaine pillow spray on our bedside table. As the room was so comfortable and spacious we decided to make the most of it and ordered room service. This was the best part of the stay. The food was incredible. It was restaurant standard food served freshly made to our room. I had the salad maison with chicken and halloumi and it was delicious. It’s not very often that a stay surpasses expectation but it was the perfect way to start January and I couldn’t recommend the hotel, service and food enough.

As a South Shields lad now living in London, prior to covid we would spend every Christmas or New Year in one of Newcastle’s more luxurious hotels. Last year was a write off with Christmas being cancelled effectively but we were really looking forward to returning and visiting close family before omicron kills us all off! After a very disappointing stay in August at a competitor’s establishment literally on the river (who shall remain nameless), we were really pleased to see that the Du Vin’s standards are as good as we’ve always found them to be. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, clean and well presented rooms, and generally a feeling that the staff and hotel management know what they’re doing and understand the extra little touches that make a visit special. In future I don’t think we’ll waste our time trying elsewhere. One thing I should add is that we didn’t sample the evening meal in the restaurant and only had the basic breakfast so can’t comment on the cooking this time but I’d be surprised if it’s not good quality. If I was being super picky I’d criticise the ‘adult entertainment’ we could hear next door on our last night - made worse by the way our rooms had a connecting door - but that’s probably me being a little unfair. We did see the funny side but next time we’ll request a room without the additional internal door ;-)
