Stayed on a Saturday to enjoy Bath for an afternoon and then the Thermae Bath Spa on the Sunday. Location is excellent just opposite the station and approx 5 mins to the Spa along with the rest of the city centre. Dined for lunch and then breakfast with the food being excellent

We arrived by train and found the hotel situated right opposite the station entrance. We were greeted at reception by a very enthusiastic, polite gentleman who looked after our cases until our room was ready, he advised us what to do and see while in Bath. Our room was very

I liked this hotel, location was spot on for us. The receptionist who welcomed us (approx 14.15pm) was very polite and courteous and informed us of everything we needed to know about our overnight stay. The hotel does have character and history, which was one of the reason for

Response from PatronHandR, General Manager at Royal Hotel

Many thanks for your review and in particular highlighting the many aspects of your stay with us that you enjoyed. However, I would also like to address the two issues which you have raised which you were not happy with. The price of a 175 ml glass of wine in the bar or restaurant at The Royal starts at £4.85 which is for two wines – Vermentino and Sangiovese – which are both excellent wines from France and Italy respectively. We have a further selection of wines by the glass at various prices. At £4.85 per 175ml glass this equates to under £20 per bottle which we do not feel is expensive for a hotel lounge bar in Bath. You may be able to find wines by the glass which are cheaper in pubs nearby but of course, with respect, it will depend upon the quality of the wine which they are serving. I am sorry that the barman took longer than one would wish to serve you as he was employed in serving another customer at the time. I thank you for your observation regarding staff clearing up rather than paying attention to customers and as you say, of course, the customer comes first. I am delighted that you say that you will be returning to us and given that your daughter is at university in Bath and we look forward to welcoming you on future occasions. What car parking facilities are at the hotel?
There are none attached to the Hotel, but a public car park is not far as I understand it. I have only ever travelled there by train as it is directly opposite Bath Spa Station.

Does this hotel have a lift?
Yes it does but all the time we were there it was not working. They did carry our bags up and back again. A vague offer of a room change was made but we did not push it but that was before we saw the stairs. If offered a room change when there is no lift I would advise a room change if you are on the top floor as these stairs are not like normal stairs more like light house stairs.

Is there car parking at the hotel ?
There is limited parking but you must call to reserve a spot. Train arrives directly across the street if you can't book the car park.
