Detailed Reviews
We have eaten at the Bell Inn 3 times now in the past 3 weeks, a Friday evening, and also on 2 weekday lunchtimes and every meal was a winner with excellent food, good service and all within a pleasant and safe pub operating fully within the Government safety guidelines. Then the dreaded second lockdown in November came, and now the Bell has commendably started a Fish & Chip Shop service from 5pm-8pm Monday-Saturday to try and continue to safely and legally run the business during lockdown as well as serving the local community.
So Friday evening we telephoned and ordered Fish, Chips, Cheeseburger, Beef Pie and Curry Sauce + soft drinks from the Bell. The result when I unwrapped the neatly packaged food with 'smiley Thanks for your order' labels, were hot, good sized and 'as good and better than' some of the specialist Fish & Chip shop food which is served in some Shrewsbury locations.
As a local resident of this Berrington Parish living just 3 miles from the Bell Inn at Cross Houses I urge everyone in the area to at least give the Bell Inn a go with your next takeaway order, and when some normality returns in December? then hopefully we can all return to having some lovely lounge meals and good ale once again in our warm and friendly local Pub, Yes it's right here on our doorstep and no troublesome long drive into a busy town centre.
Stay safe everyone.

Great pub. Really friendly staff and always helpful. Food is proper pub grub and reasonably priced. Good selection of beers and usually have an ale or two on as well. Loads of parking out front and back too. Try the specials board too, there’s always something good on there.

Couldn't fault this place. Just south of Shrewsbury. Friendly pub, also dog friendly, although we were only allowed in the bar but that wasn't a problem as food could be served in the bar.
Excellent pub grub, good sized portions and really tasty, fresh food. Cheers.

Dirty bouncy castle with noisy children. Kitchen very small hardly ideal for fresh food. Sunday lunch vegetables piled on a plate not separate. . An old shed on the way in and the car Park had trucks on it. No fencing away from car park. Overall big open playground fir children not for a quiet relaxing time in the country.

Two of us met two others of our family for lunch. The very helpful landlord set us up with Covid safe tables. Made us feel relaxed and cared about. Excellent pub food menu. Very friendly pub which deserves maximum support.

Four of us, driving from Chester towards Kidderminster, turned off the A5 and pulled into the first pub we came across. Not terribly prepossessing from the road, but the sandwiches were excellent, with plenty of filling and lovely fresh bread. They also came with chips which were as good as any I've had anywhere, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside! And they tasted of potato, which many don't! Not expensive, will stop there next time I'm passing!

We came across this lovely Pub /Resturant travelling back from Ironbridge through shrewsbury. The bonus was the large spacious free car parking directly in front of this establishment.
They have a vast menu but the Sunday lunches are great value and very well cooked. The dining room was very welcoming and clean, plenty of tables not too close together which is a bonus. The toilet facilities were scrupulously clean which was another bonus and the staff were very welcoming.
They stop serving food on Sunday at 4.pm not sure about in the week.
I would of gave it 5 stars if it had not been half pub half resturant as i feel it disturbs the warm friendly welcoming in the resturant knowing their is a traditional pub on the opposite wall.
This was just my personal opinion and feel it would serve itself better as one large pub / Resturant but suppose its keeping with its traditional regulars who want to stand at the bar.
In conclusion i would go back as the food served is very nice and a decent price.

We got stuck behind three slow moving lorries at lunchtime and thought we might as well just drop in for a quick lunch and what a great idea that we did, It was a Wednesday lunchtime and we really enjoyed a 2 course lunch I had Cumberland sausage egg and chips and my wife had the home made chili ( for small portions they were very substantial ) but best of all was the syrup sponge pudding with custard - you did not have to guess it had syrup in it as every mouthful had a great full taste of syrup. The pub was friendly and relaxing and the staff were very friendly and efficient - It was only by chance we stopped but we are glad we did and would recommend it to anyone,

If you want a Sunday Lunch that looks homemade, tastes homemade in a lovely village pub. You've gone to the right place! Just fantastic! You could smell it as soon as you entered the premises. I'd suggest booking because it's clearly popular. We will definitely be back. Thank you

4 of us went to the Bell for Christmas Day dinner, from the moment of walking in,to a lovely welcome, burning log fire, and a very busy bar we knew we had made the right choice. We were taken to our table in the dining room which was well presented. As we had pre ordered our food a few days before from a great choice of menu, our starters were served promptly, main course arrived soon after with vegetables in separate dishes to help yourself.Feeling full already,we decided to wait a short while for our deserts.then to our surprise out came the cheese, crackers, grapes and celery and coffee.
All the dishes were presented well, hot,and tasted delicious.
Overall 10/10. Excellent food, great choice of menu and well presented, and great service would recommend to anyone
Well done to Steve,Di and Ash and staff and Thankyou for a memorable day
