Same issue as many other one-star reviewers, car park scam going on. Despite the hotel's protestations that this is not a scam, it absolutely is. The hotel knows perfectly well which cars enter and use the public superchargers, and chooses to issue £100 fines in any event via its partner, ParkingEye. There is no point behaving like this and then claiming that visitors should have registered with the hotel. The signage is not at all clear. The hotel staff may think it is clear, but it is not. It is not obvious at all to a member of the public that when it says you have to register at Reception, that this applies even if you are not at the hotel and have no connection with it. In fact, many visitors are not even aware there IS a hotel as the supercharger just shows up as a normal car charger on the Tesla interface.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review and feedback. There are many signs within the car park, especially around the Tesla charging points. The signs are very clear and state that all Tesla drivers need to enter their registration within 10 minutes to avoid receiving a parking fine from ParkingEye- us at the Hotel, do not issue any fines. The team at the hotel have no idea who enters in what vehicle and will always try their best to ask all individuals that enter the Hotel if they are here to charge their Tesla and if they have registered or not. As we have been made aware, there is also a message that appears explaining Tesla drivers need to come inside the Hotel to register when choosing our Hotel as their charging point. We have over 300 people a day come into our Hotel to enter their registration and only a handful of users who receive a fine during the month. If you follow the appeal process on the back of the letter, you will be able to appeal this fine with ParkingEye. King Regards, Management Team

Very good value for money, Bed is very comfortable and I would choose Campanile over Travel lodge or Premier inn. The rooms on upper floors at Campanile have a bath in the Bathroom with Nice Hot water so that was a great bonus for a budget hotel. Spare Pillows in drawer under Wardrobe area. Staff were amazing and went over and above what was expected. Breakfast could have been better. Continental had only a few options. The cooked option (which you have to pay extra for) wasn't hot enough, seemed like it had been sat there a while and in my opinion was of a low standard, based on this I believe it should be included in the room price, but apart from that the stay as a whole was still very relaxing and pleasant. Just so others are aware they do take a £50 deposit on your card for unexpected damages or any extras charged to the room, and if no charges are taken they don't return your deposit for 3 or 4 days. Despite the deposit and breakfast its still a great place to stay for the price you pay. The only thing to note with this hotel is: Please Don't forget to add your car registration in the tablet device at reception. Even if you are not a Hotel guest and just using the bar to meet someone who is, or to even just having a coffee. It would definitely seem that the 3rd party car parking firm will charge you if you dont add your registration at reception. I actually don't think the reviews of this hotel do it justice. The company have set up a corner of the car park so Tesla drivers can visit just to charge their car. There were a few Teslas in the bays in the car park when I checked out. Some of the Tesla drivers were buying themselves coffees etc at the bar while they wait. So if you read the reviews marked terrible on trip advisor or the 1/10 reviews on google they seem to be mostly disgruntled Tesla drivers complaining about being charged £1 (yes £1) per hour more then usual, or being fined for going over the free parking period. It clearly states the charges and protocol on signs in the car park, I could see the signs myself, and I arrived when it was dark, and I read them despite not driving a Tesla.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to leave us a review and feedback. We are pleased to hear a mixture of positive and negatives from your stay as this helps us to better the hotel to ensure all of our guests have the stay we want to provide! The pre-authorisation is released from our end on the day of departure, it will take longer to be released from guests pending transactions if you have departed on a weekend or bank holiday. Once we released them from our end, it is then down to the guests banking society to released it back to your account. We do let all guests know that if they charge food/drink or breakfast to their room, we can charge the amount from the pre-authorisation meaning guests will only wait 1 working day for the rest of the pre-authorisation to be back in their account. As for the breakfast, I am regretful to hear you did not enjoy our breakfast and I will pass the information over to the kitchen team to ensure our breakfast is going out hot, delicious with more choice on the continental. I am pleased to read that you were able to see the signage explaining about registering your car at reception, we thank you for adding this into your review letting others know about the parking procedure. We hope to accommodate you again! Kind Regards, Management Team

Excellent value great comfortable couple of nights stay. We booked this hotel because it was a good price and easy location. We was attending a funeral and needed to be in Wellingborough for 9am. The location was just off the motorway and just off the duel carriage way to wellingborough we got there in around 20-25 minutes. In arrival we was asked what floor we would like our room, we opted for the ground. The room was very clean and warm and the bathroom had a walk in shower with a good supply of hot water. The bed was large and very comfortable it was probably the best nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel for years. The room had tea and coffee making facilities and also a flat screen TV. I didn’t see any hair dryer but I always bring my own. The second night I thought it might be a little noisy as there was some sort of party taking place in the hotel. I can honestly say we never had any issue with noise other than the odd time when someone slammed their door shut. I was very impressed with the hotel from the first impression walking into the lobby and the staff and the rooms . I will definitely stay here again if I need to come back to visit family.

Received a fine for waiting to get into the busy supercharger. Asked the hotel to be lenient as I was there 30 mins WAITING to charge (not even charging) and apparently that’s cost me £60 for the privilege as I’m expected to see tiny signs to register vehicle with them in the dark. Quite honestly this is a scam and should be called out wherever it’s seen.

Yes it's another one about the TESLA charging scam that this place is. Your signage is not clear enough and to be honest no matter how clear this should not be the case. People coming to charge do not expect to have to register for parking - Just about nowhere in the country makes you do this, those that do usually give an up to 45mins foc to allow for charging - we're not parking we're charging. It's pretty obvious really - you need to change your T&C. Very dissapointing

Dear Guest, Thank you for leaving a review and feedback. Regarding the parking, ParkingEye own the parking space at Hotel Campanile and it is their terms and conditions that the hotel have to follow along with anyone who enters the car park. We have many signs in the car park following ParkingEyes rules, all the signs are there to let all users of the car park, guests, deliveries, people being dropped off, that everyone needs to come into reception to enter their registration and to enter it correctly to avoid a fine from being picked up on the ANPR Camera. We have this procedure in place to stop our car park being full with people leaving their cars there all day taking the spaces for the Hotel guests and to ensure Tesla drivers are able to come and charge their car without the spaces being taken by non Tesla drivers. As we have been informed by Tesla, when anyone selects our hotel as a charging point, it will explain that users of the Tesla charging points will need to come inside and register. Our reception is open 24/7, we have approx 300 people a day coming and going in and out of the hotel who come to our location to charge their car and our team are more than happy to help everyone to ensure they have entered their correct details. Kind Regards, Hotel Management

I was parked up charging at Hotel Campanile for just under 30 minutes and have now received a £60 fine - from looking at other negative reviews on your hotel I learn that this fine is for not registrating my number plate at reception - seriously this is a joke! - I charge my car all the time - park up, jump out the car, plug in and then jump back in your car - you don't look round and read the signs. I've never ever had a charge for parking to charge in the 2 1/2 years of owning a Tesla and it was the furthest thing from my mind. I look forward to hearing back from you that you have contacted Parking Eye and the charge will be withdrawn. Shame on you choose not to.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you have received a fine whilst charging your Tesla at our Hotel. There are many signs in and around the car park and more signs around the Tesla charging bays, these signs let all Tesla users know that they have 10 minutes to come inside and enter their details and are only allowed 30 minutes charging. The car park is owned by ParkingEye so the Hotel are not in charge of the ANPR system they have in place. Our team at Hotel Campanile try their best to ask everyone who comes inside if they are charging their car and if they have entered their details, if the person has not then we will ask them to enter their details to avoid a fine. We have approximately 9000 people a month use our Tesla charging bay and we only receive 5-10 fines a month from Tesla charging bays. Please follow the appeal process on the back of the letter, attach a screenshot of your charging location from the day you were at the Hotel and ParkingEye will send you a letter with their decision. Kind Regards, Natalie W Duty Manager

I visited the Campanile Hotel in Northampton in order to charge my Tesla. Parked in the bay and was informed by another driver that I had to go into reception and put my Reg details into their system. This I did and luckily took a screen shot confirming that I had entered my details correctly. A few weeks later received a PCN form Parkin Eye stating I had not followed the correct procedure and had not entered my reg number. They also stated that no reg anywhere close to my reg number was showing on their system. I told them I 100% did enter it in. At the time I totally forgot I had taken a screen shot of the iPad. They said as a good will gesture they would be happy for me to pay an admin fee of £20 and the matter would be conclude. They said if I disagree can appeal to POPLA but if I loose I will have to pay the £100 demanded. I have taken my appeal to POPLA just awaiting response. Fingers crossed. What a total waste of time energy and stress and mental torture by this rouge and unscrupulous companies. Please read all the signs and try as best as you can to follow their procedures. Take pictures if possible as this will help to prove you are not lying. BEST OF LUCK BUT TREAD CAREFULLY - FROM THESE VENUS FLYTRAPS

Thank you for following the procedure explaining on the signs that all guests at the hotel and all Tesla drivers need to enter their registration in the tablets and ensure they enter it correctly. As you have explained you entered your details, it may be that a letter or number was entered incorrectly or the ANPR picked the registration wrong which has resulted in the fine. We booked the hotel for a one night stay as we were going to Southampton the next day from Scotland, When we arrived we parked in a disabled parking bay as we have a blue badge , We unloaded the car and booked in we filled in the form name address and car registration all fine, When we arrived home the following week we had received a penalty notice for £100 pounds from parking eye as we supposedly had not filled in the form correctly with my car reg no, I think after 6 years of ownership of the car I know my own registration no, Sent a review/ appeal to parking eye and received a reply that it had been cancelled as a good will gesture, I was not at fault so no way where they ever getting any money from me, So be careful if booking this hotel as this advertised as free parking but has conditions , The hotel is ok a bit dated in places room’s very sparse no shaving mirror and shower extraction fan not strong enough so main mirror steams up, The carpet is old and worn in places also, The walk in shower was big and had a decent water pressure with plenty of soap and shampoo supply’s , Bed was comfortable but unfortunately only 1 pillow and 1 cushion, Service in the Resturant/ Breakfast area was good with breakfast being a buffet service for cereal tea / coffee toast ect but you have to order cooked meals from your table after 9 am , So no second helpings, Staff friendly and pleasant at all times, The hotel has a small bar area if you want a quiet drink, Unfortunately I would not stay again as there is a better hotel only a few meters away that has better facilities at not that much more expensive.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking time to leave us a review and feedback, we always appreciate as it helps us to work on areas to make our guests stay better. Regarding the parking, we do have free parking to all guests and Tesla drivers. All our guests and Tesla drivers need to do is enter their car registration onto one of three tablets at reception either under Tesla driver or overnight guest and then select the amount of nights you are here for. Our team on the desk will always ask guests to ensure they have entered the details and entered them correctly. At the hotel, we are more than happy to help guests with fines if they have either forgotten to enter their details or have entered incorrectly. The car details on the form at check in are just for the hotel record for the duration of your stay so we know who's car belongs to what room if either the alarm was going off, the lights were left on or for any other reason. However, we are sorry to hear you received a fine but we are glad to hear you got it cancelled. Thank you for the feedback of the rooms, we are currently working our way through the rooms to give them a makeover where needed, if needed. Regarding breakfast, before 8am there will be the buffet but after 8am, guests will need to order with the waitress but you can still order as much as you like. We do hope you chose to stay with us again to show you the more positive aspects of our hotel. Kind Regards, Natalie W Duty Manager

I arrived at at the hotel to find that there was an issue with the allocation of my room, i was initially ignored by a female member of staff who left me stood at the reception desk for over 5 minutes until she came and acknowledged me, i was offered a free drink and the delay was very short so happy with that. We went across to the Harvester Grange restaurant for a meal which was very good, we returned back to the hotel for a drink to be ignored by the same female member of staff who checked me in as she was busy emptying a glass tray even though she knew we were stood waiting to be served, i think she just doesn't like serving customers... She finally served us and we sat with our drinks... Then we asked for another drink but she said the bar was closed, i said that i hadn't heard her call full time and she said that she was too busy to call it and that was that! I asked her to compromise as it was her fault but she said no and went home. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and i would recommend but this female member of staff knows 0% about customer service and shouldn't be working in the hospitality sector...

As per the 17 July posting this hotel operates a parking scam for those using the Tesla Supercharger. I used this solely out of necessity on a day when it was tipping down. Why the expectation that you pay to park and charge! A £60 fine when it would be cheaper to pay for a night’s stay near a loud roundabout.

Good Morning, We are regretful to hear you received a fine. As stated on the signs when entering the car park, signs placed in between each charging station and signs all around our car park, they explain that all users of the car park i.e guests and Tesla charging do need to come inside to the reception desk to enter their registration. There are 7 signs around the charging area and many more located that are visible to all users. Our teams are more than happy to help in getting fines cancelled, if you have spoken with ParkingEye, they are at their own discretion when cancelling fines. The carpark is managed by Parking Eye as it is a private car park. You do not have the pay to use our carpark, you simply have to enter your vehicle registration on a screen to make parking eye aware that you are using the car park for its intended purposes. Kind Regards, Campanile Northampton.
