As a Hilton honours member we chose this hotel over the nearby Hampton by Hilton where we stayed previously. I booked on line and chose my option which I was convinced included breakfast. Imagine our disappointment when checking in to be told "breakfast was extra" and no amount of explanation or persuasion or compassionate plees would change this. I even tried to call Hilton helpline to be met with the same "brick wall" Our stay was comfortable the room was cleaned to order and we had no other complaints. There was no noise at night so sleep was easy. Please take care if you use honours on line booking !!
We have just returned from a stay at your hotel for my hen weekend and absolutely had an amazing time . The hotel is an ideal location very close to the centre and all amenities. The staff were extremely helpful nothing was a problem at all . The manager in the restaraunt was so welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. Breakfast was beautiful everything from contetinatal through to a full English. Definatly be returning thank you
We stayed at this hotel about 15 years ago and it’s was disappointing back then , but we had decided on a last minute weekend away to York, so we thought we would give this hotel a second chance and with it being so long ago we thought there would have been improvements, but we were wrong. Well over priced £220 per night. Pay a little more for a better hotel don’t make the same mistake we did. Good points -Location Bad points - the room was too small for a family room hence why a small double bed was pushed up against the wall making it very uncomfortable to get in and out in the night. - the room is extremely dated hasn’t changed from the first time we stopped. - the room was very stuffy and hot , the window only opened a few inches, no aircon therefore sleeping was impossible and uncomfortable. - there was a strawberry end in the bath before any of us used it, obviously from the previous people and hadn’t been cleaned. - there was dust everywhere as if nothing had been wiped down for weeks, white skirting boards were thick with dust , the top of the head boards were thick with dust , they havnt been touched for weeks - at check in we were asked if we wanted housekeeping as due to covid it was only on request during our stay , as we were only staying two nights we said no it was ok . Therefore if they are not cleaning every room everyday then there would be more time spent on the room when it is being cleaned, so I would have expected the room to be spotless and especially during covid the rooms should be cleaned carefully after each family. But this is clearly not happening as the room was dirty !! there’s no excuses for this! Especially in the current climate. - Both mirrors in the bathroom and bedroom were dirty, Marks and deposits left on there which was obvious the mirrors hadn’t been cleaned or wiped either. - the cooked breakfast was ok but the sausages were very poor quality , like powdery , not worth eating. My son got a cinnamon swirl on the second morning(Sunday), and it was like a rock it was that stale ! I couldn’t even cut it with knife, the apple was easier to cut through. I probably could go on but I think you get the picture. At over £200 a night I wouldn’t waste your money.…
Great hotel in the heart of York. Everything at your door step with this hotel. There is a car park at the hotel and if that is full there is another one across the road that at a cost per night. The breakfast was lovely and during Covic the hotel felt very safe and was very clean.
Just returned home after a five night stay here. Was really apprehensive regards this visit after reading the reviews on here. But how wrong I was. Reception staff very welcoming and putting you at ease. Check in was meant to be at 1600 but got into room at 1445. Room clean and comfortable and room serviced every day - the only downside was that it was a bit noisy but not the hotels fault. Breakfast buffet and self service. Good choice. Parking good at hotel and although £25 per day which in long run may sound expensive but considering cars were secure it was peace of mind. Really quite central and everything was in walking distance.
