Not recommended; outdated, tied hotel; most of the staff where nice, however. I stayed as part of a group of 8 on a golf trip. Day 1 was the hottest day of the year, and after going low at Royal Cromer, I arrived at my room to find the heating was on and the window was shut. My room must have been circa 30-32 centigrade. Nice. I slept for about 3 hours in the sauna (and lost half a stone - not all bad). When I awoke in a small lake of sweat, my mouth was drier than the Sahara. Not the ideal way to prepare for a high stakes golf game at Royal Norwich. Night 2 was a bit better, as I was able to leave my window open all day. However, the early morning traffic of the adjacent ring road woke me. You can have cooler, but with noise. Not really what was needed in prep to attack Sheringham Golf Course. Overall, the hotel has a similar vibe to to the hotel in The Shining. Similar decor. I think if I stayed there any longer, I would have started seeing things. I won’t be back; the warm Budweiser in the bar, the filthy carpets in the hotel rooms. Not really my thing.

Reminded me of my university halls. This is a 1 star hotel not a 4 star. Staff were friendly but they know the hotel has seen better days. Oh and don’t bother bringing your swimmers as the pool is shut. Good news is your room doubles up as a sauna. I can’t comment on the breakfast as we decided not to eat it. Wipe your feet on the way out.

Friendly staff but the hottest hotel ever. Heating had been on all day and it was 26 degrees outside, a lovely sunny summers day. One of our party found a big cockroach in their room. Dated chain hotel in an industrial estate with few facilities.

I won't be staying at the mercure chain again as they're no longer trustworthy as a quality brand, after 2 recent very bad experiences. I attempted check in and was greeted by a very rough guy on the reception that could certainly use some training in customer service! he said that he didn't have a reservation for me and promptly told me in a non apologetic manor that the hotel was full. I had my company agency (capita) reservation number to hand but he rudely said, without barely looking at it that it meant nothing to him and that he needed to see email confirmation. I had to get into my work emails to prove my booking which took about 15mins and once he had seen the email he said "well I'd better get you booked in" so I suppose he must have found a room from somewhere then! He didn't give me any information about breakfast or evening meals. I asked about the pool that is advertised and was the reason I booked and he rudely stated that the pool was closed and all agencies have been informed! The room was on the 3rd floor, 2 flights of stairs and no lift for luggage! Basic room, tiny bed, dirty carpet with what I can only assume was a red wine stain on it. The room was "serviced" after the first night they roughly pulled the cover over the bed, didn't make it properly, didn't replace refreshments or shower gels, didn't hang up towels but they did empty the bin!

A very tired hotel in need of updating and not the most friendly reception staff. Good free car parking and a decent location in the city. Evening meals were good but breakfast was very poor. Pricey compared to other secure Hotels.
