Firstly, we were surprised that our room was not in the actual hotel but in an older brick building a few blocks away (Eaton Hotel on Gillingham Street). For us, it was fine. This building has no front desk so it really felt like it was our apartment. Note: This review is for a second floor room. There are basement, main and third floor rooms as well so this review may or may not be representative of those rooms. The room is exactly like that shown in the photos. It is very small but this is London after all. If you are looking for a Best Western-sized room then you should look elsewhere. However, if you like stay a heritage style London room then this is it. The room was cleaned and made up daily and nothing was lacking. One thing to keep in mind though. Since this is an older apartment there is no elevator (lift) and the stairs are narrow and winding. If you have a large/heavy piece of luggage then go up and down slowly (I'd almost tumbled the first time). The location is very central to many attractions as well as the London underground. There are many small restaurants within walking distance. It's also a relatively quiet location. In summary, we would stay here again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed and insightful review of your recent stay at our property. We truly appreciate your feedback and are delighted to hear about your experience. We understand that the location of your room at the older brick building adjacent to Eaton Hotel on Gillingham Street may have come as a surprise, and we're glad to hear that you found it to be a pleasant and apartment-like experience. The absence of a front desk certainly adds to the sense of having your own space, and we're pleased that it suited your preferences. Your description of the room and the fact that it aligns with the photos is reassuring to us and future guests. We do take pride in offering heritage-style London rooms, and we appreciate your understanding that room sizes can be compact, especially in central London. Thank you for noting the daily room cleaning and maintenance. It's crucial for us to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for our guests. The insight about the stairs in the older building is valuable information for future guests who may have larger or heavier luggage. We will work on making this aspect more clear for those with specific needs. We're delighted to know that our central location and proximity to attractions, the underground, and small restaurants met your expectations. It's our aim to provide a convenient and enjoyable stay for our guests. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you back in the future. Your positive feedback is truly appreciated and encourages us to continue providing an excellent guest experience. Warm regards,

Shocking. Got my room. A 5 min walk away from the actual hotel. Told to return in the morning to get the invoice. Ordered an iron and ironing board. The iron took 1 hour and then the ironing board took another 20 mins. Everything is walked across from the main hotel that has no staff. Totally poor!

I booked this hotel based on a Rick Steves travel guide recommendation and I really hope he removes it from the next edition. We booked an Executive Double but when we got there, we were told that we would be staying in an apartment. On the surface, this might sound like an upgrade. The front desk tried to put a positive spin on it – “you’ll have a kitchen!” The reality, however, was disappointing. The “apartment” was on the 5th floor of an old, rundown apartment building several blocks from the hotel. While the space looked clean, the furniture was worn, the floors were uneven, the walls were marked, and there was no air conditioning (a feature that I specifically made sure the hotel had before booking). It certainly wasn't the relaxing space we'd hoped for on our last night in the UK before leaving very early the next more. I feel cheated and mislead – there are no apartment-style rooms listed on the hotel’s website or TripAdvisor. If I’d known this was the room we’d be staying in, I would have booked elsewhere. I’m just grateful we were only booked here for one night.

Responded 5 Sept 2023
Dear Nicole, Thank you for bringing your recent experience to our attention, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment you encountered during your stay at our hotel. We deeply regret that your expectations were not met, and we take your feedback seriously as it helps us improve our services. We understand that the change in accommodations from an Executive Double room to an apartment was not what you had anticipated, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. While we do offer apartments as an option in our hotel, it appears there was a breakdown in communication regarding your reservation, and this is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide. We are deeply sorry to hear about the condition of the apartment you were assigned to. It is our priority to ensure that all our rooms, including apartments, are in excellent condition and meet the expectations of our guests. The issues you mentioned, such as worn furniture, uneven floors, marked walls, and the absence of air conditioning, do not reflect the high standards we strive to maintain. We will immediately investigate these concerns and take appropriate action to rectify them. Regarding the availability of apartment-style rooms on our website and TripAdvisor, we understand your frustration, and we will review our online listings to ensure they accurately represent the range of accommodations we offer. Transparency and accuracy in our descriptions are paramount, and we apologize for any discrepancies you encountered in this regard. Once again, we apologize for the disappointment you experienced during your stay, and we appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. We look forward to the opportunity to make things right and to restore your trust in our hotel. Sincerely,

I was robed from inside the safe of the room. they didn't leave traces, they took 30% of the money that I had inside and cloned my credit card with which they tried to purchase in amazon.com. the cleaning lady has access to the master key that opens the safe. a real deserter, the police is still investigating the case.

Dear Isa- Arzeno, Thank you for taking the time to post on TripAdvisor. As you know, we have co-operated with the police and the online travel agency you booked through and who you have subsequently taken matter up with. Following on from our internal investigation where we interviewed all staff on site the day you say your cash disappeared and where we reviewed the CCTV. We are struggling to find any conclusive evidence that it was any one of our employees. We cannot verify how much cash you had and how much was taken. However, we understand this has caused you a huge amount of stress. We have tried to help you at every step of the way. We are happy to continue discussing this matter with you privately, rather than responding to all the reviews you have written as we are also dealing with the police and the online travel agent here. This is the first time we have had such an incident at the property and we have been operating for almost a decade. Please contact us directly if you would like to discuss this further. Regards,

We were able to get checked in a little early. Thank god because we had travelled all night and had already roamed around London for 5 hours and needed a little nap. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected in London. It was clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The employees were very friendly and helpful. We are grateful for our stay and would go back!

Booked a single room but at 180 gbp per night excl breakfast, I expected more than 4,7 m2 plus bathroom 1,2 m2. SMALLEST room I EVER experienced. Add to that, that I could not get a key for the room so the reception had to come to my room (third floor walk up) to open each time I went out. Water leak on the floor in downstairs hall to be straddled each time I had to approach the staircase only added to the farce. One place for me to avoid in the future.

We did have a small issue related to lock, which is sorted. During you stay our staff was more than happy to help you with it every time needed. Regards,

This was the second time staying at this hotel, but as I hadn’t enjoyed my first visit I had no intention of staying here again (the first time the room was far too hot and there was no way of controlling the temperature in the room I was in). This time I’d booked to stay at their sister hotel The Eaton Townhouse just around the corner. However on check-in I was told there was a plumbing issue at the Townhouse so my booking had been switched to the Beverley (I’d had no prior warning). Anyway, this time at the Beverley I was able to control the temperature in my room so that wasn’t a problem. The rooms are small but are relatively good value given the very good location near to Victoria Station. Our main concern was that we couldn’t find the TV remote control. We eventually found it underneath the bed together with a previous guests underwear! This was very off putting and made the room feel unclean, even though on the surface the room did look very clean. The cleaning staff obviously need to check under the beds! That mishap aside, this hotel is OK for a short stay, just make sure you’re not in a basement room with no windows, no ventilation, & no efficient air conditioning (as I was during my first stay).

The next morning they provided a portable radiator TV remote worked inconsistently; Wi-Fi is intermittent Lack of storage Daily housekeeping if you ask; if not, you still have to ask for additional coffee packets, toilet paper, and to have the trash can emptied.
