Spent valentines weekend (two nights). Great hotel. Fantastic spa. One of the best hotel pools. High-tech rooms including electric curtains. Very friendly and highly professional reception staff (Boris, Begöna and Andres - Eli was very accommodating with the late check out).

Would have been a five star rating had it not been for a couple of issues. The first, having to wait 90 minutes for a main course in the restaurant and the waitress walking past me three times without so much as a word, after I raised the issue with her. She appeared not to appreciate why I became frustrated. When this was raised with the manager he redeemed the situation by going above and beyond the call of duty with free drinks and profuse apologies.

The chair armrests in the restaurant were worn through and clearly should not be in a five star hotel.

The second issue, was a cleaner abruptly saying “no English“ than marching offafter I asked whether my room could be cleaned. Christian (concierge) handled this issue with great professionalism by feeding back to the housekeeping manager; this helped to restore confidence.

Ordinarily five stars but four stars due to a couple of issues that I could not ignore. I certainly recommend this hotel. Would definitely return.

I could not be more impressed with the warm welcome I received from each and every member of staff here, at each and every point of contact with them during my stay. They all seemed so eager to be welcoming to their guests, and they all seemed genuinely proud of their hotel and its facilities, and they all seemed to very much enjoy their jobs. To give just a few examples, Gill, the person who checked me in (I "think" that was her name, could be wrong) and her colleagues at he front desk were very welcoming, and pleased to show me the room and explain all of its features and controls. The guy working at the health spa during the day was equally welcoming, and with the layout of the gym & spa facilities on the day I checked out (cant' recall his name), and was proud of the facilities as he gave his "tour." Maintance were also very friendly when working with a minor maintenance problem in the room. The staff at the restaurant during breakfast were incredibly cheerful - always a plus in an early morning before a busy day. And on leaving, Andreas was genuinely interested in confirming I had an ok stay. The location is perfect for meetings/work in the Shoreditch area, and well connected to London's tourist bits for those there for leisure, close to the Old Street Station and with lots of cafes & shops nearby as well. The room was immaculately clean, with lots of modern, convenient, and innovative controls and features - I agree with the other reviews that it takes a bit to figure them all out, but the staff were absolutely happy to guide. Loads of different lighting combinations for sure! The room offered great views of the city and big-screen TV easily seen from across the room with excellent sound quality. The desk was easy to work at, with good lighting, plenty of work space, a supportive chair, and plenty of plugs/power points. The decor is tastefully modern and not overdone. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious, lots of great hot/cold selections, all tastefully presented and cheerfully served. I'll definitely be back when work/leisure brings me to the area again! First let me say that the service from the staff was incredible. Jordan, David, and Aimee (bartender) were incredible and helped make my stay as pleasant as it was. I was in London alone for work and they helped me find some restaurants and bars with the exact atmosphere I was looking for. It helps when a hotel has a young and charismatic staff because traditionally you'd assume hotel staff to only recommend touristy spots. Not Jordan, David and Aimee. They heard a few of the places I was looking to go and recommended some others that were perfect.

As far as the hotel itself, what can you not love about it? The rooms are amazing and not your typical tiny London hotel rooms. The bathroom floor is heated, the wall plugs at the desk are universal and accept american plugs. There are USB plugs everywhere so all your devices are charged up. There is even a Bluetooth player built into the hotel room so you can play your music when you're vibing out getting ready to party at one of Aimee's recommended late night spots after getting one of her incredible cocktails at the hotel bar. I didn't get a chance to hit the pool but lots of the folks staying in the hotel were taking advantage of it.

I've heard some professional football/soccer teams stay here before playing clubs in North London and I can see why. Everything is top notch and if you're looking for a super classy, well run, incredibly well staffed, dope spot to stay that give you easy access to most of London thats near the tube and North London and it's vibrant night life, you found the perfect spot for you. Tell Jordan I said thanks for the berber recommendation, my fade never looked better!

FYI the bed is comfortable, the shower and toiletries provided were all top of the line (again, the freaking floor heated up!), and the toilet had a built in phone next to it on the wall! I have 0 complaints. Maybe the towels could be a little more luxurious but again, I'm nitpicking here. The towels were fine. The bed is also incredibly comfortable and made the little bit of jetlag I had much easier to deal with. Also, quick tip: Instead of using their laundry service, there is a great laundromat down the block called N1 Laundrette which did my wash and fold for £8.50 when the hotel's service would've charged me per item to the tune of about £50. I came to London after a few days in Paris and I like to pack light so finding an affordable laundromat is essential and N1 did a wonderful job overnight.

I stayed here for a week and although I'd like to keep an open mind because the hotel is nicely designed and in a great location, there are a few things that occurred that you should be warned of.

First, during our stay there were power outages. One evening around 11 pm the power went off and on more than 3 times, resulting in all the bright room lights being turned on when the power came back. I was already trying to sleep and had to fumble to turn the lights off every time this occurred. The hotel said this impacted half of the hotel.

Second, the housekeeping was very inconsistent. Some days they would come early, other days I'd get back at the end of the day and they hadn't come at all. Sometimes they would replenish the water, other days they wouldn't. Some days they would remove old food, other days they would leave items behind. We were left without tissues at one point.

All the while, they would actually come into the room 3-4 times throughout the day instead of just doing a good job on the initial sweep. I was working from the room on some days and they even came in once without knocking while I was there.

As others have mentioned, the lobby experience, although well intentioned, can can be quite overwhelming with the number of people greeting you.

My largest issue is that I had two items go missing -- one from a bag in my room and another that I am absolutely certain I left behind that they cannot find a day later. The first item was some cash taken from a side pocket of my bag in the room. I'll take the blame for not more safely securing that. The second item is a swimsuit that i accidentally left hanging on the bathroom door that they now mysteriously cannot find though Im willing to go pick it up. Looking back at my stay, I just feel uncomfortable thinking about this hotel. They have some operational issues to work out.

Really enjoyed our one night stay at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and I loved how the room had a nespresso coffee machine so we could actually enjoy a decent coffee on the room instead of the usual cheap small sachets that are often provided.

Staff were friendly and welcoming, we would certainly return for another stay another time.

I wasn't originally booked in at this hotel but got transferred, however I'm glad that it was just as good.

I only stayed one night but honestly wish I had been able to spend a bit more time there! The room was beautiful and I loved the control panel next to the bed that could alter the lighting and even open and close the curtains. The aircon also worked perfectly and wasn't a struggle.

I didn't get a chance to use any of the extra facilities but the hotel is well presented.

As I came through to breakfast on the morning I could see the level of effort being put in by the cleaning staff as part of the covid precautions that made me feel very safe. The reception staff also still have their plastic screens up as well.

Very close to the tube station to get further into London. Would definitely stay again

Booked 2 Club Rooms through booking.com but arrived to be told that Club Rooms not booked directly don't give access to the Club lounge (a key reason for booking these rooms!) With every other hotel chain I've ever used Club room = Club lounge privileges no matter how booked.

They told me that we could add this to the room for £30 (how generous!), which reluctantly I did, wanting to still deliver what I had promised to our family.

To add insult to injury it turns out the Club "Lounge" at this hotel is an unmarked, windowless box room next to the toilets on the first floor with very limited food and drink on offer.

The hotel is ok otherwise but they need clarity on what different rooms types actually offer, if that varies on where the rooms are booked then this needs to be made clear at time of booking. That negative message on arrival tainted our overall impression of the hotel and I doubt we'd go back.

This was my second stay at the hotel. I've found the service at the hotel increasingly better with each stay. Even though coming to London in the middle of winter, the hotel and rooms were incredibly warm and well insulated.
When I had some technical issues with my access card in the elevators I was ably assisted by Christian B. The man is a consummate professional. Going beyond the required and took time to understand the nature of my stay, give recommendations of eateries that were within my budget and a good reflection of the wide dining culture in Shoreditch. In all our interactions he was engaged in what I had to say and provided solutions to all issues I raised.
I found the staff at the dining hall also very friendly and approachable. Where language was an issue, enthusiasm to be of assistance was more than compensatory to my positive experience at the hotel.
The M by Montcalm remains my favourite place to stay in Shoreditch.

This isn’t usually a place we would stay but we decided to treat ourselves. We had booked a deal off wowcher to stay In The Montcalm brewery. A week before we were due to stay we had an email to explain we will be staying at Montcalm east. We had a look at the photos and were happy enough to stay here instead.
The photos are EXACTLY how the hotel is, we were so impressed with this hotel.
It was clean, modern, and one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.
The reception team were polite and friendly and gave us a warm welcome.

The room included Comfy pillows, soft bedding and towels, ironing board, nespresso machine, sky tv, electric curtains, mood lighting even under floor heating in the bathroom. I LOVED the rain shower. We felt so comfortable in this hotel.

Unfortunately the spa was closed when we were staying which was a shame as we would’ve liked to of used it . it would’ve been a nice touch but this didn’t effect our stay.

We had room service which was quick and efficient and the food was so nice!! reasonably priced as well with Huge portions of chips too!!

The hotel is trying to be environmentally friendly by having 2 bins for general waste and recycling and also the h2o station is a really good idea. You can refill your bottle with sparking or still water.

We would happily stay here again! It was lush, I didn’t want to leave!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Denise from start to finish. We visited for my partners birthday, and she made it so special. The room was decorated with balloons and a gift of gorgeous yummy chocolates on arrival! We arrived earlier than expected, thinking our room wouldn’t yet be available, but even arriving 3 hours early, they had our room ready in 10 minutes (this is unheard of), and whilst we waited we had complimentary drinks at the bar. With the ease of a 12pm check out the following day, we made use of the room service and ate a delicious breakfast in our room overlooking London from our room! I honestly cannot fault this hotel, and I’ve stayed in some pretty special places for quadruple the price and never had such a personal experience.

Personally I wouldn’t stay here if you are visiting the sights of London it’s quite far out and you have to get on a packed tube to get anywhere! Not sure about the room we went for a sky high view and all we could see was building works and a crane !

You have to ask for these at the desk when you check in. They cost £50 extra per night too! Worth calling the hotel to check that room is big enough for the extra bed too (I’m pretty sure it is but not certain).

"Try and ask for a non front facing room if you struggle to sleep with traffic. If not the rooms ending 10 have the nicest set up. "
