Do you remember those moments as a child - the gift shop after the school trip to the museum, your favourite ride at the theme park or playing outside with your friends - when you were having the best time but had to stop and go home? Those times when you would long for it to continue and would ask 'just five more minutes...please?' in the hope of being to enjoy the moment for that little bit longer. Well, every time I stay here I still get that feeling before I come down to check-out. The hotel provides such a relaxing, pleasant and almost uplifting environment that you just want to stay for as long as you can before leaving. It is that good.
I've been staying here for over 12 years and even now it still impresses. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with large windows that make it feel very light and airy, especially if you are staying in the higher grade - and therefore higher floor - rooms, where the views, whichever way the room is facing, become amazing and for the penthouses, simply spectacular.
The location is ideal, being at the southern end of Westminster Bridge and so you are pretty close to all the main attractions in central London if you are staying as a tourist. It is well served by buses and train (Waterloo station and underground are less than a 5 minute walk).
Breakfast is not the cheapest but is outstanding, with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, including items cooked to order. It can get a little busy and one of the downsides is the proximity of the restaurant to the lifts, as a queue can form at busy times that gets in the way of the lifts entrance/exit. A small point and one that can be overcome by coming down early for breakfast.
The biggest plus point here has always been the staff and how they manage to maintain such high levels of guest service delivery. You feel like you are a valued guest and that your stay matters. It's not surprising that last year the hotel was nominated in two categories at The Cateys (think Oscars but for hotels) and if my memory serves me correctly, was the only non-5 star property to make the nominations. Special mention has to go to Kevin, Jaan, Elliott, Lisbeth and Petra, for whom nothing every appears to be too much trouble, no matter how busy the front desk is.
London hotel prices have gone through the roof since the pandemic and County Hall is no exception, although the general level of prices still represents good value for money both on an absolute and relative basis. The hotel has grasped not just that with the cost having gone up, so have guests' expectations but also that guests are now more discerning and so if you want to keep them returning, you have to provide a reliable and repeatable guest proposition.
My tip would be to go for the highest grade of room you can, in order to secure the best view, as the central London skyline at dusk and dawn is a wonder to behold.
Highly recommended.

Just home from an amazing 3 nights at the park plaza county hall. We booked the hotel based on location, reviews, and the fact we could get a room with a view of the London eye. We weren’t expecting it to also have a fantastic view of Big Ben, such a great surprise. The room (1130) is set up perfectly for families, we had our kids age 5 and 12 with us and the 2 beds are separated by the bathroom, creating almost 2 separate bedrooms. Kitchen area was fab, mini fridge, sink, kettle, microwave, full size mugs which I thought was great (can’t beat a proper cuppa with a London skyline view) they’d even provided dish soap and a cloth. Location was perfect, 5 mins to the right and you’re on Westminster bridge, and 3/4 mins to the left and you’re at Waterloo train and underground station, which also has loads of shops available. M&S, Sainsbury’s, so easy to grab fresh pastries in the morning if you don’t want to pay £22 for the hotel’s breakfast, and there’s also a Nandos, weatherspoons and brewdog there. Can’t fault the hotel and can’t wait to go back

Just returned from a 4 night family trip over Easter. Fantastic hotel couldn’t fault it, great location close to two tube stations and walking distance/easy access to many landmarks. We had a deluxe studio with a great city view on a high floor overlooking London and the Waterloo trains. Rooms were spacious( family of 4) and very comfortable equipped with a mini kitchenette with coffee machine and kettle, bathroom had a shower and bath with robes slippers and Elemis amenities, great storage - hairdryer and iron with iron board - 3 mirrors and 2 TVs! Kids slept on the sofa bed which was separate to the main bedroom. No noise could be heard sound proofing was excellent, staff were wonderful- very helpful and kind especially to the children who received a welcome pack on arrival and a number of chocolate treats! It was my first time with this chain but will definitely rebook! Housekeeping was excellent. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as it does get busy as do the lifts in the morning rush. Would definitely recommend this place! Keep it up!

Spent a weekend as a couple in an Executive Studio Room-London Eye View.
The good:
The room was clean, tidy and quiet and the bed was comfy. The view of London eye and parliament was nice enough.
The central location meant lots of the big London attractions were in walking distance. Also very close to Waterloo underground and Pier for tube and clipper connections to wider city.
Staff seemed fine, but had very little interaction with them to be honest.
The not so good:
The hotel and area it sits within are pretty soulless. The room was looking tired and the layout was odd. A long thin suite, with bedroom next to exterior window, enclosed bathroom in middle and lounge on the inside towards the corridor, with no natural light. I don't know why the bathroom and lounge were not the other way around to allow the light and nice view in to the lounge?? Very overpriced for what you get, then breakfast is £20 per person, per day on top (recommend the black penny nearby instead). Washbasin needed attention, didn't drain readily. Also had to specifically ask for refills of toiletries, tea and coffee.
It was fine, but based on the price and other reviews I expected much better.
I'd be tempted to opt for something cheaper with more character, in a nice leafy suberb next time.

Our family of 4 visited in August and overall had a fantastic trip and stay at the hotel. We choose PPCH due to the location and also because we could book a penthouse to get a balcony as it seemed somewhat difficult when searching through the many hotels in London. I knew there were only 2 PH rooms to face the London eye, however booking early I put in the request...it was not given and we ended up with a view of big ben rom 1404. It was still an "ok" view, however the cost was significant (vs regular rooms) so please know that it could be disappointing to have a room that looks directly into another park plaza hotel as well as train tracks. Check in gentleman, not exactly the friendliest, but there was another lady manager that made up for it.
The room was large and spacious with a kitchen, pull out couch for the kids and king bed for the adults and one bathroom. Although it was mentioned at check in the room would only be cleaned every 3 days, each day our room was cleaned so that was much appreciated. We had refills on water each day as well and they did a great job. Beds were comfortable but pillows were terrible! Breakfast was included in our rate and the whole family mentioned it was one of the biggest spreads we have come across, kids had a blast eating fresh pancakes and nutella everyday. The only thing I missed was no cream for my coffee...only milk selection. As others have mentioned, staff is overwhelmed and unless you visit before 8:00 - 8:30am please expect a line and a packed restaurant. They do a good job of moving people through quickly but it is not a relaxed experience. The one day we ate at 7:30am it was much less crowded and calm.
The only real blip in our experience was coming back late around 9:30pm one evening from a long tour, we wanted to visit the hotel restaurant. It was extremely busy and they told us that they couldn't seat us and to order room service. Placing our order was difficult as the gentleman could not understand my order for some reason. After 60m with no order we called to follow up, which we were hung up on not sure why. After calling the front desk, we finally received a comped order at midnight and the next morning a card with an apology and a small bottle of wine. And just to note - although that experience was not ideal we should note the food we did receive at least tasted good.
The location is fabulous and allowed us to walk everywhere. We felt extremely safe and I would recommend as a great location for a first time visit in London if you want to be close enough to walk. We did take many ubers as well and one note...although we tried changing the pin, all drivers assumed we were across the street at the PP westminster.
Great stay, enjoyed being able to sit outside and good location.

We are sorry you experienced a busy environment in the breakfast area, and we can appreciate how upsetting this has been. This week I was in London to attend a friends wedding. Normally I would stay with friends but decided this time to opt for something a bit different. The reason for choosing park plaza County Hall was its really convenient location . You’re close enough to be walking distance from most things but also gives you the option of taking a taxi no hassle.
I arrived to the hotel, which was quite modern on the exterior and nicely appointed inside. At reception I was checked in by Rashida who was so pleasant to deal with and although check in is 3pm they were able to accommodate me at 2.30. As I was staying for a few nights there was an option to abstain from their housekeeping services during my stay for environmental reasons. Choosing this option also entitled me to a bottle of Wine. (No brainer)
The bedroom was on the 9th Floor and was perfect for the few days. (I was a solo traveler) so loads of room but if you were fitting in partners and kids I’d pick carefully which one to leave at home 😂
I’m an early riser so I was looking forward to sleeping in a bit. The first morning I had breakfast at 9.30 and it was very busy. Only after that had I realised that we’re signs around the lobby and lifts advising what times Are advised at peak times and to avoid dining if you are in a rush which makes total sense.
Would definitely recommend for anyone making a trip to london and can’t wait to stay again the next time

I mainly booked this for the location which is very close to Waterloo Station. The baggage storage was appreciated and we used this on both days. In terms of the room it felt dark to me we had a room with a window overlooking the central area not outside. There were also no teabags other than green tea and camomile and in the shower there was shampoo conditioner and body lotion instead of shower gel. I also didn’t appreciate someone knocking on my door at 9am for housekeeping when I was only staying one night?

Having already tested the park'plazza opposite, I don't know which of the two is worse. A 15-story factory, you feel locked in like a chicken cage. Very small room, large entrance with sofa, which is useless. Bathroom of 2.5 m square where they managed to accommodate the shower, bathtub and toilet. You might as well say that you can brush your teeth while going to the toilet because you almost trip over your feet in the toilet while trying to put on makeup. Barely room to turn around. Two mini sample bottles for the shower gel. Rudimentary! Magnificent view of Waterloo station (!!) we count the trains. The decor is of no interest. Basic and tasteless. If you want to go to the restaurant on the mezzanine floor you will appreciate the conviviality of a sort of deserted self-service. This place gives me goosebumps. I think the Park Plaza Westminster opposite was a little less unpleasant although... it's worth it. All this for 275 pounds a night... Check in was done in 2 minutes flat (the only positive point) but with a robotic welcome as cold as the ice floe. To flee !

Enjoyed our stay here as the location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing (near top tourist attractions, the hop on hop off BigBus, and Waterloo train station). The room and bed were comfortable and facilities were available even though we didn't use them. Breakfast at the hotel was too expensive which is why it didn't get a 5 star rating (25 pounds equates to A$50 each, not justifiable). Right across the road was a 24 hour deli and another 100 metres was a M&S foodhall where we would get ready made platters to dine on for dinner. We often purchased meal deals for lunch from Tesco Express which were 4 pounds or A$8.

Very comfortable hotel in many respects: spacious room, comfortable beds, spacious bath and shower, many samples of shampoo, bubble bath, moisturizer, conditioner. I also found the cleanliness valid. Thoughtful and kind staff, many attentions to children with small gadgets that they adore. Breakfast really with a lot of choice, a bit crowded but the staff manages the flow at the tables very well and we never waited more than a few minutes at peak times. The location of the hotel is really convenient to many highlights of London and also to many means (Waterloo tube station within walking distance, and also Waterloo train station within minutes) and many buses that pass in the area. What I less appreciated was the fact that the room was indicated as having a kitchenette with "kitchenette" but it is actually a microwave sink and kettle. I chose this type of room to have just the chance to have an alternative to the really unsatisfactory London kitchen having 2 small girls. Another negative thing for me is that the windows cannot be opened at all, there is not even a vasistas. Improveable the very small garbage containers, perhaps for a family really too small and even the lack of a toilet brush is to be reviewed (steps that there is no bidet, you know .. but they scour it...). Overall Recommendation, we were very well.

The location of the Park Plaza County Hall can't be beat. It is right near everything. Parliament, the London Eye, Big Ben, etc. We had a lovely time there. The service was great, the room was great. We would definitely stay there again.
There are more places to choose from in the London area.
