We stayed for two nights which was the first trip to London since lockdown. It was a very pleasant stay. The hotel was spotlessly clean with fluffy white towels and bed linen. We were greeted warmly and had to sanitise hands and wear masks in the common areas. Our room was sanatised and no one entered it once we checked in . The room was small but that’s to be expected in a small hotel. It was during the mini heatwave and we were so pleased on our return to find a fan outside our door. We were at the back overlooking a delightful garden which was being worked on by the lady owner who was getting it back into shape after lockdown. A great place to relax having walked around London. Tube line nearby, great restaurants and so many green spaces . Breakfast Was cooked to order with a choice of juice and cereals . Yes would certainly recommend it for sightseeing and it’s in a lovely street.

We rented a double room with a private bath on the first floor. The host family is very hospitable and even let us in at 7:30 AM for us to drop off our luggage before we saw some sights before checking in later that day. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the location that was walking distance from two different tube stations and a few bus stops. My friend and I felt very safe and comfortable as this was our first time in Europe together. We saw some shows that got out late but we still felt safe walking back in the later evening. The breakfast was also very good and they were very accomodating. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you are looking for a family-run place in London.

I had a great two night stay at the Jesmond in mid-October. It’s always nice to have a lovely warm welcome (I have stayed some years ago).
The double room was spacious and exceptionally clean, with all the COVID safety measures in place as expected. The room was fitted out with a TV and convenient plug sockets by each bed, making charging my laptop and phone easy, even with a short cable!
Location is of course fantastic with lots of cafes and restaurants plus shops (so many shops being just ten minutes walk to Oxford Street!). I liked being able to walk to everywhere I needed to go that weekend.
I’m already looking forward to my next mini break at the Jesmond Hotel!

To have a lovely, perfectly cooked breakfast prepared for you for the price I paid was truly too good to miss. They even had veggie sausages. The chap who checked me was a diligent individual. I was staying in a single room which although small was perfectly adequate. The decor is old fashioned but my purpose was simply a bed for the night. I slept soundly. It does take quite some time to get hot water out of the tap but given how high up I was this is not surprising. If you have eaten that wonderful breakfast do be aware it is 7 (yes, i counted) flights of stairs to the top floor where the single rooms are located. I certainly worked off some calories! The lady who checked me out was very friendly. I had a meeting at the university which was just around the corner.

Over the past 30 years, I have stayed at the Jesmond many times when visiting London for research or leisure travel. Located in central London, the hotel is on several bus lines and within easy walking distance of the British Museum. The hotel features the most delicious English breakfast I have had in London. The Beynons, who own the hotel, are sociable and knowledgable.

Be sure to make your reservation well in advance to ensure the hotel has availability. On my last visit to London a year ago to see West End productions, I booked several months in advance and enjoyed a large, well-appointed room on the hotel's main level. I look forward to returning as soon as travel is possible.

The Jesmond is petite, in an ideal location (near the British Museum and other notable sites), handy to two Tube stations, and very quiet. A family ensures that their guests are well looked after and they provide advice when needed. Breakfasts are custom-tailored to each guest, with a surprising variety of options! A b&b always promises huge savings to American travelers who don't require fancy 'big hotel' services!

Good email communication and a warm welcome from Vince when I arrived. Great breakfast and customer service from Glyn and the other staff. I stayed one night for business. They allowed me to stow my bag after I checked out while I went to the British Museum, which was just 5-mins walk away! The full English breakfast was tasty and cooked to my preferences. Lovely hotel environment, neat and clean room with a good, clean bathroom. Everything was much better than I expected. Would highly recommend the Jesmond.

My wife and I chose the Jesmond for our theatre and museum weekend as it was easy walking distance for both. The hotel is located in Bloomsbury which is so close to the West End but also has the feel of a quiet neighbourhood which is perfect for us. Our room was warm and homely with a nice high ceiling to feel classically grand! Everything was clean and finished to a high standard and we were lucky enough to have to the large window view of the peaceful garden. At the price we were paying I had to assume the breakfast was probably going to be so-so, but it was fantastic, real quality bacon and sausage and very good coffee. It really is a brilliant budget option for staying in Central London and I fully expect we will stay here again when we have reason to be back in London.

This was an amazing hotel for my time in London. The location was great, it was very walkable to many great locations around the city, The staff was very friendly and they were always willing to help when we had questions. The breakfast in the morning was such a great addition to this stay, it was a great English breakfast. The size of the room and bathroom was pretty small, but it was still such a great hotel and I would recommend it to everyone.

Dear tropicalinns Thank you for taking the time to ask a question. I am sorry that you have not had a good experience during your one night stay with us. I take seriously any issues that any guests may have during their time staying with us. My staff informed me that a daddy long-legs "Pholcus phalangioides" was removed from your room and I apologise if this caused you any undue stress. This type of spider appears large due to its long legs but is completely harmless to humans. We were unaware of your arachnophobia and hope that the spiders removal helped. I have personally inspected the room you stayed in and have found no evidence of either mosquitoes or bed-bugs or any other "various bugs". The room in which you stayed has been occupied both before and since your stay, to great satisfaction from those guests and without any issue. Furthermore, we have a pest-control contract and our rooms are regularly checked for any pest activity as is correct for any hotel. Following my own investigation I requested that my pest-control company come to the hotel and carry out their own independent check of the room for any presence of mosquitoes or bed-bugs. That check has been carried out, and they found no presence of either pest. Our reputation as a hotel has been built over 40 years as an honest family business, and I sincerely hope that remains the same for years to come. You will see from many other reviews across different platforms that the majority of our guests are satisfied with our service, and we welcome many returning guests from across the world annually. Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Glyn Beynon. Jesmond Hotel.

what is your cancellation policy please
Answer from JesmondLondon
London, United Kingdom5 contributions2 helpful votes
In the case of any cancellation after the reservation has been made there is a minimum charge of one night per room (cancellation charges may increase closer to the time of the check-in date). We also require written notice, and cancellation fees will be charged from your credit card. No money is debited to your credit card before arrival (unless a cancellation should occur), but we do often pre-authorise the amount of the first night of your stay. This is not a full transaction, but may show up on your statement. Payment in full can be made in cash, traveller’s cheques in pounds, or credit card upon your arrival. We accept master or visa card only, we do not accept American express.
