The Goodenough Hotel boasts a prime location favored by many for its tranquility and accessibility to central London highlights. While guests have commended the hotel's cleanliness and the service provided by a responsive staff, the value proposition has been met with criticism, citing overpricing for the amenities received.
Although the hotel's atmosphere and period features receive praise, some visitors find the rooms to be cramped and stuffy with noise issues, and views that do not always meet expectations.

Detailed Reviews
We visited for an overnight stay to see a show. The room was wonderfully appointed with everything you need including a small fridge, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, tea and coffee making equipment, a very large extremely comfortable bed and a gorgeous shower room. The cleanliness and comfort were better than many other hotels we have used over the years and the staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast in the great hall was also super. Lots of choice of hot and cold and an enormous range. The walk to the theatre was about half an hour but with the hotel being in Bloomsbury it was an extremely quiet night in a green and leafy party of the city. All in all a great stay.

Booked here for easy access to st pancras on our way back from Belguim and never really stayed over in London. My husband couldn’t believe how nice it was for the location especially (he was a regular visitor to london hotels.). So glad I found it and will certainly be back again now.
The room was quite spacious with a very modern shower room and we even had a fridge to pop our wine in. The bed was sooooo comfy and could have slept for England in it......forget the premier inn mattresses for sale you need a ‘good enough’ one:)
We ate breakfast across the way at the Good Enough college (included in price) so hubby was quite happy to fill his shrinking stomach.
Nothing was too much hassle and most impressed with the service by the staff
Thank you Good Enough hotel

What a great little place! We stayed for 3 nights (not consecutively) on our recent trip to the UK, and each night we had the same lovely room overlooking leafy Mecklenburgh Square. The enormous window and high ceilings gave the room an elegance that reminded us we were staying in what was once a smart London Town House in the heart of literary Bloomsbury. The square was very peaceful and we could easily have forgotten we were in central London, only 10 minutes' walk from St Pancras and Kings Cross stations.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower room had clearly recently been completely refurbished. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and we found out that you can borrow a key from reception to access the private garden square opposite.
If we had one criticism it would be the breakfast. The hotel was clearly operating within Covid-19 guidelines, and the guest dining room was closed. Breakfast was delivered to our bedroom door each morning but consisted of a small tub of yoghurt, a muffin, a small pack of cheese, an apple and a carton of fruit juice. It was too similar to the sort of packed lunch we might have got on a school trip. Whilst we appreciate that it is difficult to cater in these strange times, I am sure it would be possible to provide tea and coffee, a fresh croissant perhaps...

I stayed here for a couple of nights on my own and loved it - it was spotless, comfortable and friendly and had lots of restrictions in place that made it feel very safe. The bed was super comfy and it was quiet at night. Furthermore, I couldn’t believe how reasonable it was for such a central location.

This has been a pleasant stay from beginning to end. Cleanliness is a must for me and this reaches a good standard. No fuss during C19 lockdown and a continental breakfast left at door which was fresh bakery, cereal, fruit and orange juice. Staff were helpful and showed me the suits which are worth a visit. Good location. Near to a park and arrange of eating places and shops (3-5minutes). Prices are very reasonable for London. Hot immaculate shower and a quiet night with no traffic to bother outside. I’m struggling to find a negative . I came by train so do not know about parking .

Really loved this place. We had room 101. It was so warm and comfortable. The bathroom is absolutely spotless. Beautiful high ceiling and lighting. This is not a standard hotel but a line of beautiful period properties. Reception was a door or two up from us, and the two people I met at reception were so very friendly and helpful. For breakfast you cross the road and go to the Great Hall. That in itself is a lovely experience, the dining hall is amazing and breakfast was really good. It is a fully stocked buffet. For those who would like a good night's sleep I absolutely recommend The Goodenough - Meckleburgh square is practically silent, let alone quiet. The rooms might be a bit close together so noise might come from your neighbour but definitely not from the street. We slept really well.

I stayed at this hotel with my 10 year old for two nights for her birthday trip to London. The hotel, which was not experienced as a hotel because the rooms were separated from the reception in their own entrances (which I knew when I booked), was clean, nice and had most of what you need in a hotel room, including a fridge and kettle, tea and instant coffee, which not all rooms have. A minus is that there is no lift and it is challenging to carry heavy luggage up narrow stairs. the steps are so narrow that you have to walk sideways, a bit unnerving. :) The breakfast was unfortunately a big disappointment. The breakfast room itself was dark and dreary, but certainly had the potential to be stunning. Unfortunately the food did not live up to this. This was the best of two breakfast options the hotel had to offer, the other was a "simple" continental breakfast, while this was supposed to be a "full English breakfast" and the pictures give the impression that there is a large and fresh selection of other things as well. It was deplorable, dirty, and the food was of very poor quality. This was simply a bad school canteen. I was actually a bit shocked at how bad it was, especially after I've read good reviews of the breakfast in here. I can't understand why anyone would pay for this. In Norway, even the less good hotels have breakfasts that are perceived as fanciful compared to this. I also think it was negative that you have to go out and across the street to eat this inedible breakfast, as it feels heavy to put on outerwear, in our case an umbrella too, to eat breakfast. That said, the area is peaceful and nice. It's a short walk to Russel Square tube station, but be sure to use the Citymapper app rather than google maps, as google maps shows an incredibly long detour from the station. If you are traveling with a child, I would consider staying even more central and not as quiet as this, as the area is perceived as a bit "boring" via a child's eyes. Just finding a breakfast place (because believe me, we did on day two) is difficult here. Will not stay here again and will not recommend the place to others as I personally like traditional hotels with inhouse breakfasts, reception and which have a lift better.

We stayed here for 3 nights as we was getting married close by, the hotel is actually a muddle of different buildings and has an extended mews section, we wasn’t aware there is no elevator, but the staff did kindly offer to help with luggage if needed.
The rooms have recently been refurbished and I would say they are to a good standard, very clean and the shower is reasonably powerful, the carpets in the hallways could do with a deep clean or replacing but maybe that’s on the agenda.
The staff are all incredibly nice and really friendly, we didn’t sample breakfast as you was required to go to a separate building.
Location wise it’s around 15 mins walk from King’s Cross but the 46/17 bus all stop near the hotel , you can access Holborn and Chancery Lane easily as well.
For the price we paid. The location means we can’t really grumble.
Rooms do get very warm even when it’s not that hot outside, no air conditioning in the room only a small fan, which wasn’t too good!

Got a great price for July. Good location. 20 minutes walk to Covent Garden and not far from a tube. Staff friendly and helpful. The room was a student bedroom but I aware it was a college when I booked so it wasn't an issue.
Cons:
Some of the pictures attached to other reviews and comments in other reviews look like a normal hotel room with reference to a TV and tea and coffee. I was definitely in a student room with a basic single bed, desk, no TV. I booked an en-suite room which was more expensive than other options so I am not sure what the difference is in booking between the student room and the 'hotel' style ones. Be careful when you book if the difference does matter to you.
There was no air conditioning. It was essential to keep the window open but students gathered on the otherwise quiet road outside, smoking, drinking, playing some music on their phones. This quietened down after a rain shower but went on to past 1am on a Wednesday night.

+1
The hotel is clean and neat and is located in a quiet area. The reception staff and the lady from the breakfast were nice. The continental breakfast is served in the building and the english one in another hall nearby. The breakfast was ok.
Except from the above, it was a dissapointment. You do not have the impression of staying in a hotel as the rooms are located in separate buildings, there is no lift and it is all very noisy. You can hear anybody that comes on the stairs during the night and it is a strange sensation that you live in somebodys’s house.
I was booked a double room with single occupation, but I got very tiny single room.
All in all, I do not recommend this hotel at all for business, and also for leisure more than 1-2 nights I think it is difficult to stay here.

Not as far as I know.
We were told 3pm, but bags could be left with reception. Enjoy!
Hello, the goodenough hôtel is located in the east of London near the Excel centre, about fourty minutes from saint pancras or piccadily by underground. You've got small room with a double bed, a desk and small bathroom with shower and toiles. No tv. It is cloth to the air airport and you can ear planes at seven in the morning. The breakfast is a continental one (22 pounds) and it is great. Nice place for few dans.
Yes all our rooms are en-suite and the area is perfectly safe and if I say so very tranquil for central London.
Yes but there are no sockets near the mirror so either bring your own or practice doing your hair by guesswork. Better still, avoid this place
