Stayed for 5 nights with a friend and it was lovely!! Modern and stunning. We arrived late in the evening and check in was smooth. Breakfast was delicious every morning, we were served by Jason who was so accommodating welcoming and friendly. Restaurant had a nice ambience and the hotel was clean throughout.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was just great!

One con is however, we got a knock on the door from HK who barged in, apparently you aren’t allowed to blow dry your hair? The widows were kept open so I am confused as to what the issue was?

Regardless our room was cleaned very well and any extras we needed were always replenished.

Dear JaijiHaych, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay with us, I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your experience with us. With regards to the housekeeping knocking on your door, it was due to H&S reason as the fire alarm was detecting a fire from your room, I can only imagine that the hairdryer was used under the detector which set off our alarm, but of course you can use the hair dryer at your leisure. We hope to be able to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind regards, Marie

Our first stay in a hotel since lockdown. Was very happy to see so many measures in place sanitizers, screens, one way system in place and everything was so clean that we instantly felt comfortable. As usual Malmaison delivered, the room was just lovely overlooking Charterhouse Square, the vegan curry in the restaurant was perfect and the cocktails were great. The staff were friendly and helpful as usual. Looking forward to our next visit.

I purchased a gin cocktail afternoon tea from Buyagift for a friend at Malmaison. We went to the hotel at the Barbican, London yesterday and it was really poor. From being asked 4 times on arrival what we were there for to eventually being seated and asked what we wanted to order from the main menu. We explained once again that we had a booking for the gin cocktail aft tea (also specified at the time of booking and voucher handed in on arrival) and then were given two glasses of prosseco! We said this wasn't what we should have and it was changed and we were brought a gin and tonic each, by this point we had lost the energy to explain that it should be a gin cocktail. My napkin was covered in lipstick and my friends glass was really dirty. All in all it was really disappointing, I don't know what the other Malmaison hotels are like but I definitely could not recommend using this one based on our visit. The chap serving us didn't seem to know what he was doing and it was frustrating that so much was wrong on what should have been a really relaxing and special afternoon.

My Wife and I had a stay over Christmas 2023 and brought our 2 small dogs with us. As soon as we arrived we were impressed by the Malmaisons location and architecture within the Charterhouse Square.

Entering the premises it was just as nice, as were the staff who greeted us. We went to our room which was also as good as hoped. We’d booked a suite and weren’t disappointed by the size of the room, the bed and the shower in the en-suite. All were huge! A nice touch was presents for the dogs, and a bed each and bowls to use for their stay.

Our first meal was Christmas Eve dinner. We’d read that the food was good and overall it didn’t disappoint other than a pavlova dessert that was a little on the hard side. The beef mains were excellent.

Another outstanding meal was the Christmas dinner. Everything arrived hot and with good timing.
Again it was all about the attention of the staff who went out of the way to make the meal memorable.

Breakfasts were also noteworthy with a good range of choices of cereal, bread etc plus a hot breakfast if required.

Whenever we came into the Hotel we, and the dogs, were always warmly welcomed by the staff, which confirmed we had made the right choice for our stay.

Because this is an honest review I’d like to make a couple of suggestions for the future.
The shower cubicle needs a small shelf for personal toiletries. Ours had to stay on the shower floor, but there’s certainly room for one as it’s a vast enclosure.
We really missed not having a formal lounge area. There are two small seating areas down in the bar but they’re below the staircase and not conducive to a leisurely sit with a book or newspaper. We were lucky to dodge the wet days but if the weather’s not kind, and too bad to go out, you’re likely to be stuck in your room, and even in a large suite that’s a little depressing over Xmas. On the website there are a number of conference rooms which obviously weren’t in use over the Xmas break. I wonder how busy they are and if one couldn’t be converted into a lounge incorporating some of the large and spare space in thae entrance lobby?

Last but not least, if you have a nice car, and there were a few outside, bring a bucket and sponge if you park round the square. The ‘guano’ from the birds roosting above the cars was horrendous and I had to utilise bottles of water and dogs towels to wash the car off before we left. Not the hotels fault, obviously, but worth knowing about if you don’t want your paint ruined.

Overall, a great stay and a credit to the Manager, Marie, and her staff.

This hotel is not worth the cost and Breakfast was terrible & the waitress was so shocking I thought we were on a hidden camera show. She rolled her eyes when we asked for toast as no bread left during service than sulked when she walked of . Breakfast is £17 and lots of items missing with no gesture of reducing cost. The poor veggies paid £15 for a spoonful of scrambled eggs & 1 mushroom, 1 tomato. Out fried has a broken egg leg asked for ice to be brought to her room & they tried charging £4 for it !

We stayed here for a Friday night in Summer 2021, close to the end of the COVID 19 restrictions. The staff on the check in desk were friendly, helpful and approachable. We only had the room, no need for any meal bookings as we were heading out to explore places close by!

This is not our first stay at a Mal, and it won’t be our last. I’ve even said we should only visit areas with a Mal hotel so we know what we are getting! The room was fantastic…clean, tidy and the bed was so comfortable! Considering the price being remarkably good for London (I’ve seen far far pricier hotels with awful rooms, no identity or atmosphere and basic decor etc) I love the fact that you get wonderful in room extras that are that little bit of luxury. The nespresso coffee of a morning is a lovely treat!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and made at home such helpful & cheerful reception staff.

Our room overlooked the square and whilst smaller than anticipated it was just perfect, huge comfy bed, pillows and linen and the walk in shower was huge and immaculate.

Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, yoghurt & homemade muesli, fresh pastries and the full English and coffee were great!

Perfect location, quiet area close to all the amenities, Tube and popular areas of London.

Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The Barbican tube is a 2 min walk away and you can Also walk to St Paul’s, Tate gallery And the City of London. The staff here are lovely, nothing is to much trouble! The bedrooms are beautifully decorated. We had breakfast in our room each day- Covid. Nice continental breakfast, could have done with some pots of coffee and tea on the tray, when we asked we were told there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Would definately stay again.

Whilst I had no issues with the room and found the hotel to be in good location, I could only give 2 stars due to the attitude of staff throughout our stay.
From checking in to leaving the hotel we found the staff to ,at best, have a bad attitude and ,at worst, be downright rude.

To top it off when checking out we were told the system was down (after finding reception un attended and one member of staff sat round the back on their mobile) a week later found we had been charged for several items on mini bar that were not used.

Disappointing, as had previously had good experiences at other malmaison hotels.

We have stayed at Malmaison London for some 15 years now, usually 2 or 3 times a year.
Location is great for us, as we usually drive in from the west and can park easily in the square. Barbican underground is 2 minutes away.
The hotel is housed in a lovely building. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. We normally book a club room.
The beds are comfortable and the linen is good. Bathrooms are nice with decent toiletries, not small bottles that never last!
Breakfast if we take it is good.
On occasion we have stayed at other hotels in the city some of which are considerably more expensive but we think Mal London offers great value accommodation and we always come back!
Victor on the front desk was especially helpful.
