Located literarly less than 200 meters from the front gate of Liverpool Street station, this is very convenient place to and from Stansted airport etc, and in a lively area. The apartments are big, and do have all the usual facilities for self catering. The kitchen is generally well equipped, although in our apartment there was no frying pan..!! The floor can be pretty cold, and they have not kept any in-room slippers etc - very irritating. The bed mattress is good and firm, but the bed design is a bit clumsy with a iron frame on one side of the bed (see photo). And if you expect some nice view from the window, forget it - at best you will see some other roof tops of the backside of buildings. Overall, recommended for location.

Liked · Location a real winner. Liverpool St station across the road. Lots of eating options.

Disliked · I understand that in a retrofitted hotel all rooms are different. Ours was a bit of a shambles. Exposed hot water service off the bathroom. Not what I expected from a (4*) property. Pokey kitchen had 2 lighs with a combined output of maybe 10 watts and the stove couldn't be started. Lack of lights generally in sitting room and everyone's room seemed to overlook everyone else's

Disappointing

I booked this place blindly to stay in for two nights during the rail strike.
I was amazed by the standard of the accommodation. My room was standard and not executive yet the quality was there.
It is self catering but when you are in the heart of the City of London you are spoiled for places to eat out.
I chose to eat in after a visit to M&S Food in Liverpool Street station
Bed was comfy and the bed linens superb.
Next train strike and I am sure sadly there will be one booking myself in 196

Immediately upon arrival, I started coughing at the terrible mildew smell in the apartment. I have asthma and knew that a stay would be terrible for my health. The desk clerk was nice and showed me an equally terrible unit directly across the hall. Then she said to me that the "good news" is that it was going to be renovated soon. I couldn't stay and the hotel refused to refund me for the first night (about $400). Do not book here if you have any sensitivity to mold/mildew smell. I couldn't risk my health and almost immediately left. I will add the location in Spitafields is great - just look for a cleaner, less mildew smelling place if you are at all sensitive.

This is not a nice place to stay.

It is very run down with ripped carpet in the halls, stained tile, missing grout, broken MDF on the shower surround, etc.

When I was out, a maintenance person entered my room and disassembled the toilet surround, leaving the stone shelf that should cover the tank access in pieces on the floor, as well as leaving a bunch of garbage in the room.

When I reported this at the desk, they had no idea why someone had been in my room or why they left it in disarray.

When the maintenance person came to set it right, he was very rude.

Rooms looked nothing like any of the photos on line , they’re old and have a horrible smell to them. The bathroom is covered in limescale and the shower didn’t work only used freezing cold water . The windows were dirty and covered in dust and dirt and cobwebs. There’s no security in the building no cameras and our key card worked for every room . The management were rude and unhelpful and when I complained refused to admit anything and ignored my emails . The room didn’t get cleaned when we asked them too and none of the pillow covers had been washed . One of the worst places I’ve ever stayed, your only paying for the location . Travel lodge round the corner is cheaper and much nicer !!!

This inn is located in an ideal part of London; it is easily accessible from Elizabeth metro and other lines.

However our room showed significant wear with water damage to wooden floors. The bathroom floor is so damaged, it moves as you step on it. It was our (4 people’s) opinion it should not be rented until renovations have taken place. Any pictures we saw when selecting this facility were not representative of its true state of repair. With this amount of water damage, we were concerned about (black) mold and odd smell throughout.

The basics of renting a facility are that it is clean and safe!

Property is conveniently located opposite Liverpool St Station. This is where my positive review ends. we booked a two-bedroom apartment and here are the points that management and renters should note: very strong smoke smell in apartment throughout our stay; very creaky floor boards; couch in lounge room is in very poor condition; bathroom tiles are cracked and bathtub damaged; no clothes dryer. This accommodation needs an overhaul as right now it doesn't deserve the 4-star hotel status it claims.

We discovered on the first night that one side of the double bed slopes down sideways so that you feel like you are rolling down a hill. We told the reception the next day. The girl could not have cared less. When pushed as to whether someone would look at it, she was vague. Needless to say, nothing was done about it. The kitchen amenities were very basic too. However, I will say that Karen on reception was helpful and friendly when she was on and that the location is central to tube and The Tower.

Rather disappointing. The room was clean enough. But it was directly opposite Liverpool st station. The curtains and blinds were inadequate in keeping out the lights from outside. And the noise from the street outside was deafening. This latter is hard for a hotel to manage of course, but I would have expected rather better sound proofing. I am a sound sleeper normally, but was woken up probably 5 times during this stay. Above all, please get blinds / curtains that block out the light!

Hello If you still need this information. The hotel will book a car for you or you could use a car service company and book it yourself. It maybe cheaper. We used a company called Addison Lee
