At the Bedford Hotel, peace and quiet is our priority. With the elegant bustle of Bloomsbury on every side, that might sound like an impossible task. Covent Garden and the West End are just a short walk away, and the British Museum is on our doorstep. But at the Bedford, we can promise you a good night's sleep too. How do we do it? Well, many of the rooms overlook our picturesque private garden. The Bedford is small and intimate, offering a warm welcome with a personal touch. And it's a great place to relax with company too, with a charming guest lounge and laid back café occupying the ground floor. Meanwhile, the Bedford Garden restaurant serves home-made British specialities, with a modern twist, overlooking our secret garden. We're able to offer a little corner of traditional English tranquility, here, in a bustling, international city. It's made us a firm favourite with returning guests.

The Bedford Hotel garners praise for its exceptional service, with staff members consistently described as friendly and professional. Guests appreciate the peaceful garden and satisfying breakfast, though the lack of air conditioning is noted. Its central location is a highlight, offering easy access to local attractions and dining. While the hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive accolades, some guests mention room sizes can be compact and street-facing rooms may contend with noise. Overall, the hotel is considered a good value with its reasonable pricing.

We stayed at the Bedford for a week Sept 2022 with our two adult sons. We had two suites 411 and 511 which were so spacious and comfortable. We discovered on the third day that the extra door in the entry hall to 411 was to a little kitchen! One son is a wheelchair user and 511 was perfect for his needs, with a large bathroom. We followed the advice of previous viewers and asked for rooms at the back of the building where it was quiet and we had a view of the garden and the skyline over rooftops. The location was perfect for walking to interesting sites in any direction, but buses and taxis were also available right outside the door. Shops just across the street and restaurants nearby provided for all our needs. The British Museum is literally just around the corner. The on-site Botanica restaurant staff and the housekeeping staff were especially friendly and greeted us every day and made every accommodation for the wheelchair. The breakfast in the Botanica was well worth it, if it's not included in your room fee, buy it anyway! We also had afternoon tea and a couple of dinners there and the prices were reasonable and the food was well prepared. Great fish and chips! The garden behind the restaurant is a pleasant retreat after a long day of walking, with flowers and water features. We feel we could not have picked a better moderately-priced hotel to meet our needs for our London vacation. Pick this place!

I booked this hotel for a Saturday night in November 2019 through British Airways. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from Russel Court Underground Station with direct links to Heathrow Airport. And is only a short walk from Covent Garden. My room was comfortable with everything I needed for a one night stay. Nothing fancy but perfect for the price. The reception area is bright and spacious and the staff were very courteous. Breakfast was included in the price and was very enjoyable with a huge selection. I was very pleased with my stay and would happily stay again.

We had booked to stay at this hotel for 3 nights over new year, we normally stay in cheaper hotels and so weren’t expecting the world from this hotel. However, after being put in a room above a noisy boiler we asked to be moved to a quieter room, to which the hotel staff placed us in room 533 right next to the lifts, why you would put someone with a noise complaint in an even noisier room is beyond me! We refused to stay in this room after listening to how loud the lift was and was placed in a top floor room facing the front of the hotel, the traffic noise was awful but at this point our only options were boiler noise, lift noise or traffic noise. The rooms were very stuffy and claustrophobic and the bathroom was barely even enough for one person let alone two. In the first room we stayed in the toilet was dirty and in the room on the front of the hotel I found a dirty used face mask on the floor (not mine!) after the rooms had apparently been cleaned! After having a long day we decided to go to bed earlier (10pm) to be woken up by a cleaner vacuuming the hall way at 11pm at night for some unknown reason!! This then occurred again the second night of our stay! The tea facilities in the room were awful too, having a cup of tea in the morning you’d expect the tea to be refilled when the room is cleaned, however the cleaners didn’t refresh our tea and instead replaced it with camomile tea rather than ordinary tea that we were quite obviously drinking. After seeing the state of the rooms we did not try the breakfast but after reading other reviews I’m glad we gave it a miss. This hotel is incredibly noisy and considering we are in a covid pandemic the rooms were not as clean as they should have been and especially to find a used mask in the room was absolutely disgusting and something I would not expect from a 3/4 star hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect but for the money I would not return to this hotel and would much rather spend a little extra to stay in a better hotel. Do not stay here unless you want to have sleepless nights and dirty rooms!

Bedford is a true 3 star hotel, probably closer to a 4. Over the course of 2 weeks we stayed in 5 different hotels and Bedford was hands down the best. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. We booked the double room with the garden view. The hotel provided ear plugs in the room but we didn't need them. Our room was spacious, clean. Bathroom was a little cramped for my husband and I but manageable. Make sure bathroom has a bath mat as the shower curtain doesn't keep all the water off the floor. Our only complaint was twice our key cards to get into the room stopped working and we had to go down to the front desk to get new ones. Not a huge deal, but annoying when it happens at night after a long day. Botanica is their onsite restaurant and I highly recommend for breakfast or dinner. Decor is so relaxing and makes you feel like you're eating in a lush garden. We also really appreciated the location - short walk to two tube stops but also tucked away from the busier parts of London. Would definitely stay here again.

This was my first stay at the Bedford Hotel. What can I say? I think the best description is a 5 star hotel wrapped in a 3 star body. From the moment I checked in till the moment I checked out, I felt like a valued guest. The reception lobby was warm and welcoming, with a relaxed ambience. Checkin via the Shackle app was a breeze, although I did request a room card as my phone for some reason dislikes Shackle and refuses to get on with it. My single room was on the 6th floor, facing the street. Yes there is some traffic noise, but the windows are double glazed and when they are shut the noise is negligible. It certainly didn't disrupt my sleep. (For the detractors - yes the hotel faces a busy street and yes there will be traffic noise. You're in London - there's ALOT of traffic. If that bothers you, perhaps don't stay in London.) Ah yes, the bed. My only complaint really. Mattress was a tad firm for my taste, and I think the duvet is a bit of an overkill. It's too warm! The single room is compact, but the bathroom was a decent size with a bath/shower combination. Water pressure good and constant, water temperature hot and also constant. Breakfast every day was in a lovely restaurant overlooking a pretty garden. Food was excellent, HOT, and plentiful with full English and continental choices. Reception staff were always attentive and courteous, and willing to help if needed. One bugbear - I think some of the info on the app needs to be updated, as it advises for laundry services to contact housekeeping when in fact you need to contact Reception and get the form and bag for your clothes. Reception contacted me when my laundry was returned; it all arrived on separate hangers in plastic bags. Even my jeans were ironed (I don't think I've ironed them since I purchased them!!) I requested a late checkout on the day of departure, which also wasn't a problem. I am really impressed with this little gem of a hotel, and will definitely return. Thank you!

This hotel is in the perfect location for walking to any of the west end attractions and shopping in Oxford street, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast that is served in the restaurant is delicious. The only downside to this friendly hotel is the road noise at the front of the building which is both loud and constant throughout the night which is very unfortunate. A room at the rear overlooking the courtyard is 100% better and makes any stay here a very pleasant one. Perhaps a lower rate for the road facing rooms should be implemented !

I stayed at the Bedford for about 9 days and they have been nothing but accommodating during my stay. The area is close to many shops and places to eat and Russell Square and Holborn station are a short walk.

The housekeeping service has been wonderful as they would come and correct the rooms while I was out, but respected not entering if there was a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on it.

The laundry service was wonderful, while it's an extra charge, they wash, fold, and press items individually, almost like receiving a new set of clothes.

Lastly, the reception staff, (especially Vijay and Ken?) have been incredibly helpful in answering questions I might have and making my stay much more easier.

I would absolutely stay here again if I visit London again.

If you like to stay in a hotel that is 90 degrees during the day and only 85 degrees at night then you are in luck! This is your dream vacation! You might wonder why it is 66 and perfect weather outside yet it remains 85 degrees in your room, you will come to realize that the windows are screwed shut and can only open 3 inches!! Once heat exhaustion sets in, you will start to contemplate whether you signed up for a human torture experiment or not. Not to fret! The customer service here is amazing. Not only will you have to call repeatedly for 2 hours to request more fans, but you will also be told that in order to report a problem with your stay or to request a refund, you will have to email customer service... and yes... they will not respond in a timely manner. I am not sure who is writing good reviews for this hotel, but maybe they enjoy sweating off a few pounds. Personally, after touring the city and sweating for 12 hours around the city, I prefer a nice cool place to unwind and sleep. Enough of my banter... good people who want to book this hotel, let me reassure you that the lobby is nice and air conditioned and feel free to take your pillow downstairs and sleep in the lobby once you realize you have booked the WRONG hotel to stay in. Good luck.
