I wanted a budget hotel for a single Saturday night in a central location and chose the Duke Of Leinster with some trepidation as some of the reviews weren't too complimentary. I needn't have worried. The room, on the 4th floor, was a good size with all the facilities I required. It did face the road and there was some noise, so light sleepers beware. The breakfast room was small, as other reviewers had observed, but we made sure we arrived outside of peak hours and the selection was good as was the quality. The staff we encountered were all friendly and efficient.
The location suited us, just a short underground journey to Covent Garden etc. I would be happy to use this hotel again.

We booked this hotel because it was close to the Albert Hall which we were visiting. We booked for 2 nights and compared to most other hotels in the area was reasonably priced, and breakfast was included.
Our expectations were fairly low (because of the price), but reviews were generally good.
The reception was very small, but neat, and our room was on the ground floor (they changed it for us as were originally in the basement). The room was very small, but had everything including tea / coffee, hairdryer, TV, shower room, and was clean and tidy.
Breakfast was advertised as 'continental', but in fact consisted of juices, cereals, hot food such as scrambled, fried and boiled eggs, beans, tomatoes, croissants, yoghurt and toast and tea /coffee. It was served in a neat small dining room in the basement. The staff were very nice and helpful. As vegetarians it's the first time where we could anything presented!
We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it when visiting London.

Me and my partner checked in to the hotel at around 3pm and were greeted by a lovely member of staff, we were informed that our room was on the lower floor and to take either the lift or stairs. The lift was extremely small, so if you have anything other than hand luggage with you good luck trying to fit in there!

When we opened our room we were welcomed with what can only be described as tropical heat and no natural light as the window was both permanently locked and frosted. We then switched the air con on however although providing slightly colder air it was no where near enough to tackle the heat in the room.

The amenities themselves were good, coming with a kettle, biscuits tea etc and a mini fridge which was very useful. However, the bathroom itself was very poorly lit as was the rest of the room and with no natural light it was difficult to not feel like you were in a bit of a prison cell.

Breakfast was okay, there was not much variety and the staff had to toast your bread for you. Furthermore, the scrambled egg was cold and also had shell in.

However, all in all for a budget price it was an okay stay as it was only for one night. Had we have been staying for longer we would have requested to change rooms.

Dear Cally, Thank you for your time to leave us a review. Your feedback is very important and we are always interested to hear from our guests what they appreciate and what went wrong during their stay.  I am sorry to hear your room was not up to scratch as well as elements of the Breakfast Buffet. I have forwarded your feedback to our Breakfast team so they can improve the elements of the breakfast service. Hotels in London all tend to have basement rooms, however we understand that this was a particularly unpleasant one. Please do not hesitate to ask to change your room on your next stay. In the meantime, you will be pleased to know; our maintenance staff has been looking into how to improve the lighting in the room/bathroom as natural light is very limited in this case. Also, a new temporary cooler has been added to the room so we hope it will make a difference to our future staying guests. We hope we will have another chance to show you, we can do better. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share a review with us. Many thanks Lenka

Going into this hotel is very deceiving it's very nice clean well decorated. We were put in the basement where the kitchen is so we had staff up & down the corridor talking & banging early morning late at night
The room we were in was extremely small dirty and dark there is lots of cobwebs all over the ceiling & skirting boards the furniture needs a good clean the window is blocked up and really dirty behind the blind. The bathroom door stop is in front the toilet zi kept stumping my toes & triping over it. The breakfast was stone cold beans with scrambled egg boiled eggs poached eggs not good if you dont like eggs no sauges or bacon. Was given a time to go for breakfast but 3 times was told to go back to our room as they were full second day had to que in a cold corridor. (Each room should be given a time slot for breakfast)
The staff are friendly enough but still wont be staying there again
We won't be staying there again

Dear Lorraine, Thank you for your time to review your stay at the Duke of Leinster Hotel.   As you shared in your review, your stay was not the best one and for this, please accept our sincere apology.  We understand you are feeling very disappointed about the level of a cleanliness given and your allocated hotel room in the basement. Housekeeping team has been notified and we will investigate why this particular room was not up to scratch. I am glad you have brought this to our attention. The breakfast room is on a small size and we try our best to serve as many guests as possible but certain times could be busier than others. Scrambled eggs and baked beans sometimes do get cold but staff is more than happy to re-heat them for you. Currently, breakfast sausages are not on the menu until we find a new supplier (hopefully very soon). Thank you, again, for your valuable feedback. We hope, you will change your mind and give us another opportunity to show you, we can do much better than this. Many thanks Lenka

We visited London this march and stayed in this hotel. It was a little run down but does the job you need for a city break. The rooms were small and very little amenities, however, the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Situated very close to 2 subway stations (Paddington & Bayswater - around 10min walk) So easy enough to hey around the city. Breakfast was limited but always something you could eat. Not sure I would stay again though as I do like my rooms a little bigger and more modernised (personal preference)

Dear Laura, Thank you for taking the time to share your valuable review. We are pleased to receive your feedback about your stay at the Duke of Leinster Hotel. However, we are truly sorry to know that we did not entirely meet your expectations during your recent stay at our hotel. Many central London hotels are challenged on room size, however we do have a variety of room options and when occupancy allows, we often upgrade guests to larger rooms than the one actually reserved; we would have been happy to help you find a room better suited to your requirements, depending upon availability. On a more positive note, I am glad that you found our location and customer service great. We hope that you will change your mind and give us another chance to welcome you back in the near future to improve your previous experience. Kind Regards, Adrian

3 nights stay in this hotel that resulted in no sleep , poor breakfast for one day other two days avoided.
Dirty bathroom, toilet needed bleaching, dust in bathroom extractor fan. Stained walls stained carpet. Bed frame falling apart. Tv had black lines on it so unwatchable. Air con unit in room hanging onto wall by one bracket, unsafe. Bedroom window covered in pigeon faeces so was unable to leave open due to health risk.
Breakfast was served in the basement and had no windows or ventilation and not enough seating for all the guests as our friends had to sit and wait in the area they called reception till other tables became available .
Breakfast was a choice of poached eggs or scrambled which were cold. Poor choice of cereal. Only one slice of toast offered and when we asked for more the staff appeared put out by this and rude. No top up of coffee or tea during breakfast.
Just an unpleasant stay in an unpleasant hotel.

Dear Gina, Thank you for your sharing your comments with us. First of all, please accept my sincere apology about the issues you experienced during your recent stay at the Duke of Leinster Hotel. I understand you stayed in the room 205 which has got the usual ‘wear and tear’. In terms of exposed wires from the air con and TV with black lines, no one has reported these issues in this particular room so we were not aware of them. It has been now reported to our maintenance team. I have spoken to the receptionist on duty and he said you were offered another room after 1st night and you declined to accept the offer as you were satisfied with your current room. Breakfast room is on a small side, there is a door with glass in the back which brings some natural light in and staff keep it open for a bit of fresh air. Scrambled/poached eggs and baked beans are served warm, staff is always on hand to warm them up if you prefer them hot. Tea, coffee and toast are on offer during your breakfast so it’s a good idea to ask if you would like to have some more. We hope, you will give us another chance to show you, how wonderful your stay with us could be. Thank you, again, for your feedback. Many thanks Lenka

At first when did our check in, the receptionist told us that the room is one floor under the reception. We went to the room, the corridor between the rooms was extremely small. It was also smelling really bad, because there was also the kitchen. The room was terrible and dirty, cracked walls, the bed and the floor creaked, it was really cold, the windows had bars like it was a prison cell, the bathroom was unbelievably small, if you closed the bathroom door, you couldn’t fit in there etc. We went back to the reception to change the room and they said that they’re fully booked, we wanted a refund and they told us that it is impossible. After a lot of negotiations and after asking them to speak with the manager, the receptionist told us that tomorrow everything will be solved. That night I caught a cold. In the morning we went to the reception and asked for the promised room. It was at the 5th floor (their lift isn’t working). We went there and that room was even more outrageous, the floor was sloping and the room was unbelievably small. We finally went back to our previous room. The cleaning lady hasn’t come for 4 days. We stayed in that basement for 5 days. Most horrible place I’ve ever been before. It was catfish, they promised us a room that they didn’t gave us and we lived like rats for 5 days.

Dear Diana, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is very important and we rely on hearing from our guests to ensure we are doing a great job.  As you shared in your review, this was not the case for you and for this, please accept our sincere apology. Our guests are the heart of our business and everything what we do.  We understand you are feeling very disappointed about your allocated hotel room in the basement, size/standard of the other room offered and also broken lift.  In terms of your room not being serviced for 4 days, if you would kindly report it to the Reception, we would always make sure your room will be serviced next morning. Hotel rooms based in the basement are of lower standard but we always try to offer a room on a higher level where possible. You will be pleased to know, lift engineers have been working on the lift for several days now so we hope there will not be any further issues. We do hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you in a near future.  Thank you, again, for taking the time to share a review with us.

We stayed in Duke of Leinster for 2 nights, 2 adults and 3 teenagers from 11th to 13th April. We had 2 rooms on the 4th floor. 406 and 402 I think! Although the rooms were small they were clean and had lovely comfortable beds and powerful showers. This hotel is ideal for short city sightseeing breaks. 10 minutes walk from Paddington and 10 minutes from Bayswater underground station which we used a lot. Although the breakfast room is small we managed and the food served was lovely. We were actually amazed at how many fitted in and the staff looked after everyone anything we asked for we got. The staff throughout the hotel were all lovely and very helpful. Most importantly this hotel is situated in a very safe and quite area of London which we were very grateful for as we were travelling with kids, the price was also within our budget. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

We booked this hotel as it was somewhat cheap and near to Hyde park winter wonderland which we were going to.
Also close to tube connections.

This hotel is in need of a serious makeover, simple things such as peeling wallpaper in the hallways and ripped up carpet in the room doesn't give off good vibes.

We were staying on the top floor, which is quite a climb up the stairs - we were told on arrival the lift was broken and would be fixed within 2 hours , however over the duration of our 2 day stay it remained broken.

The room was smaller than expected with an extremely small TV and a healthy sized bed which was very comfy.

There seemed to be something up with the floor because it was very creaky, which could probably be heard from below. It was also very noisy - everything in the corridor and adjacent room could be heard from inside our room which was not ideal.

Breakfast was okay - nothing special.

Staff were friendly, and were happy to accommodate and answer questions.

Overall, okay hotel, nothing special but alright if you can find a cheap deal.

Dear Guest, Thank you for the time to post your review about The Duke of Leinster Hotel in Bayswater, London. We are sorry to learn you did not have a great stay, please accept my sincere apology. I greatly appreciate your comments about aspects of the hotel/room that need updating. The carpet in the room 301 has already been changed. Our Maintenance team is going to start the work on all hallway wallpaper soon. In terms of the broken lift, the engineer stated to us, the lift will be fixed within 2 hours however, it took much longer as another part needed to be sourced. Due to the old nature of the building, we do have many creaky floors at this hotel. I hope that we can convince you to change your mind about another visit to our property. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back. Many thanks Lenka

Wow what an amazing couple of days we had at the Duke Leinster hotel.

The room was lovely and clean with a powerful shower, clean towels and toiletries everyday. There was a fridge as well which was so handy!

The bed was made each day which was lovely.

There was a kettle with tea, coffee and hot chocolate also 2 packets of biscuits each day which was fantastic after walking around London all day.

The breakfast was buffet style which was amazing which set us up for the day ahead, there was a lot of choice too.

We would really would like to thank the staff in the kitchen who work very hard, they were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The location was perfect for visiting Kensington gardens, Hyde park, Notting hill and Oxford Street. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to London.

A fantastic price as well! Very impressed.
