Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the Hilton London Metropole for a long weekend stopover in London. It's a very large hotel, and was very busy when I stayed - overall I found the hotel to be very welcoming and friendly with its staff, the room was acceptable and clean, but definitely had wear and tear and could use a refresh. This hotel was affordable for a central London location, and felt safe and was very close to a tube station and a short walk to Paddington station for the Heathrow Express, which made it very easy to get to the hotel from the airport.
I stayed in a standard King room. The room itself was large by London standards, very clean, good wifi, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. That being said, there was noticeable wear and tear to the room, and it felt much more dated and tired than the photos online show. The bathroom was clean and serviceable, but nothing to rave about, and the tub / shower combo was a bit awkward to step into as it's quite a high step into the tub from the ground.
I noticed that the staff were very friendly in all of my interactions with them, and it made up for the minor complaints I had about the age of the room and made me feel very welcome. The housekeeping service was incredibly friendly - even though I had my "Do Not Disturb" on my door, when I saw housekeeping in the hallway, they always asked if I needed anything, offered me towels, water, etc - which was really nice. And, the front desk staff were also very kind and polite when I checked in and checked out, and made me feel quite welcome. Also, when I called to request an extra blanket and pillows, they were delivered to my room quickly and with a smile. Clearly, the management of this hotel puts a lot of effort into keeping a positive vibe with the hotel staff, which I appreciated a lot.
The location of the hotel is quite central, and very easy to get on a tube line (just a half block from the hotel), or to Paddington station. It's also not a far walk to get to other areas like Marylebone or Hyde Park or Bayswater. The neighborhood of the hotel itself is not the "cutest" London neighborhood, and is on two very busy streets, but it has a lot of quick eats, there's a M&S food across the street for easy readymade food options, and a Starbucks across the street as well. The location is a great base for exploring London! The hotel also has a bar and restaurant, which I didn't try, but were always bustling with guests.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for someone looking for a reliable place to stay in central London that comes with the respected and well known brand of the Hilton chain, has friendly helpful staff, and won't break the bank!
Also worth noting - this hotel is BIG! There are three towers of rooms, and I got a bit lost at first even trying to find the right elevators for my room.

We stayed here for one night, chose it because it qas close to Marylebone. Doesn't look much from the outside but inside it's really nice. We didn't go to the main restaurant or bar but we did have some food in the kitchen area which was delicious. The food was quite highly priced BUT there was lots of it and it was really fresh and tasty. The room was very large and clean, shower was piping hot and there was everything you could need for a stay. Four cans of water had been left for us as well as biscuits. The beds were comfy and large. Hairdryer, iron and safe in the room as well as a huge tv. Lots of plug sockets for charging the millions of devices we now all have. My daughter purchased one of the Hugo the hedgehog toys which she loves and will remind her of the trip.
Hotel is situated really close to Edgware Rd tube station which has 2 huge lifts and no steps so easy access for pushchairs etc. Huge M&S over the other side of the road where we went to buy some extra snacks 😀
Thanks again Hilton. We love staying at your hotels

Hamzeh provided impressive and impeccable service throughout our 4 night stay at the Hilton. We were always out of the room when the service was done. All the towels were correctly exchanged, beds were made properly, drinks were restocked, etc. Most of all, we felt very safe keeping items of value inside the room without being hesitant of whether or not they’d be missing. I would recommend Hamzeh to any employer due to his great level of knowledge and expertise. Keep doing great things for your Hilton customers.
Thank you Hamzeh,

Overall a good structure, very large and a little distracting, the breakfast, continental, is of average level there is a bit of everything but very coarse... the espresso coffee is missing which I honestly expected to be there given that it is in Europe anyway .
The rooms are quite clean but not spotless...dirty pillowcases, stained with blood and other stains, dust on the furniture, bathroom not at the top.
For those who don't speak reasonable English it's best to avoid... there's no one at reception who speaks a word of Italian.
The location can be defined as good because there is a metro stop nearby but it is not the best for those who want to visit central London, furthermore the neighborhood where the hotel is located does not seem to be the most recommendable!
Be careful when you pay...if you book with payment at the hotel and pay by credit card, an extra 3% is applied on the initially confirmed rate.
It is clearly a business hotel that essentially welcomes everyone.

The much-needed refesh several other reviewers have talked about shouldn't be that hard to implement.
You don't get the sense the Hilton Metropole is a happy place to work, and for us customers, this is visible in multiple ways.
First, breakfast buffets are a madhouse in many hotels, but when some of the white service staff openly bully a black member of staff, or snap at a customer "don't touch that!" when they mistakenly attempt to use a coffee machine in need of a top-up, you get the sense that something is amiss. The breakfast rush is also no reason why the coffee machine should overfill *every *single cup, or for the chicken sausages to be undercooked. Shouldn't be hard to fix with proper management.
Then there is the concierge who pats back any request to leave a suitcase in storage with the insinuation of some illicit reason for asking. "We don't do overnight storage". Well, thanks for the service and the friendly tone. Nothing some training in Hilton Honors service standards can't fix.
Then there's the room service staff who insist she will **not replace used tea cups with fresh ones **for the duration of our stay, despite asking her to. Finally, after the third night, we got them.
Yet the same staff insist that towels **must be changed every day because "that's the rule", even when we are prepared to use them another day.
Of course, reusing towels isn't easy. Despite the signage (photo) imploring guests to hang up their towels to reuse them, there is - without exaggeration - not a single towel rack or hook anywhere in the room, let alone the one-person-only bathroom. We resorted to coat hangers (photo). Shouldn't be hard to avoid a greenwashing allegation - just pop around to the hardware store on Edgware Road for some hooks.
Then there's the lifts, two of which weren't working at all, a third was out of commission one morning during peak time, and the doors would routinely not close. Nothing that can't be fixed by a qualified specialist. Here's a Pro tip - fix the lifts so pressing *one button works for *all lifts.
All up, in the absence of the usual Hilton experience, there's better value for money elsewhere.

The customer service is terrible. They didn’t clean our rooms. After I complained about the room service. The manager stated that there’s a yellow tag has to be put on your door and they will clean your room. We booked 3 rooms and none of the rooms have yellow tags. We brought our own electric plug adapter. When we turned on our hair dryer it sparked and now our blow dryer doesn’t work. Went to the front desk and they said we can sell you a plug adapter for 5 pounds. Our shower had a tub and a shower head that sprayed out a mist of water. You would think a Hilton would be more top notch.

Checked into the room after a long day traveling to London from the US. Just wanted to sleep.
The window - which was not openable/closable by anyone other than hotel maintenance - wasn't sealed properly, so street noise and sirens filled the room.
Went to reception, requested a room change. Desk attendant didn't take my word for it - she insisted on going up to the room to hear the noise for herself. Upon her return several minutes later I was told the hotel had "no other rooms available." Odd, given the Hilton app would have sold me any of 7 room types there for that same night. After saying I was just going to go elsewhere for the night, my gold status was noted for the first time, and another room miraculously opened up. A big production was made of changing the room assignment "from someone else" as though this was the first time in recorded history that a hotel has had to assign a different room to a customer.
This new room was quieter by dint of having a window that closed.
It did, however, have a shower that reeked of mold, so I can't honestly say that it was much of a net improvement.
I won't bother coming back. The maintenance and cleanliness are nowhere close to acceptable for the price point—well, any price point—and the nonsense about there being no other rooms available when there were plenty available on the Hilton app was the weirdest form of service "recovery" I've encountered in years.

We stayed here for three nights on a family break. I think it’s fair to say that it was just OK which was disappointing and have had better quality from the purple hotel chain which is far cheaper. We had a room in the older east wing of the building (though it does feel like it was once three hotels all combined into one at some point). The room was really tired and is in desperate need of a refurb, the bathroom door was all bashed in and the tap to the basin was leaking like a sieve. The beds were not much better than sleeping on a park bench they were so hard and the room was hotter than hell despite having the “air con” switched on and set to 18c. We were quite alarmed to find that people could see right into our room from the lift lobby because of where the windows are so had to keep the curtains closed at all times for privacy.
Breakfast was OK, the hot food seemed to be incredibly salty, in particular the scrambled eggs and the cubed potatoes and it was the same on all three mornings. It wasn’t quite up to what I have previously had in a Hilton hotel.
The only redeeming factor of this hotel was the location which was very close to Paddington and just across the road from the underground station.

My third stay in the last six months which says a lot about the improvement since the refurb. It is a very large hotel but never feels as big as it is. Have never had a problem checking in or out. As a diamond member, was upgraded to an exec room which was spacious and well equipped (unless you want a bath) and even get biscuits in room which is increasingly uncommon. The executive lounge is exceptional in terms of size and refreshment quality, certainly in the top 3 Hilton’s in London and now substantially better than the Hilton in Park Lane which has gradually and seriously downgraded the refreshments in its Exec lounge since covid. The only downside is it’s location which is not as convenient for the City or West End as other Hilton’s although only about 15 minute walk from Selfridges and Edgeware Road tube just a couple of minutes away. It is often cheaper than other Hilton’s in London, sometimes much cheaper, and offers decent value for a pretty good offering.

Stayed one night in December 2024.
Location was convenient for train departures from Paddington Station; the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the station. The hotel also has great Tube access--a Bakerloo line station and a District/Circle/Hammersmith & City line station are within ~5 minute walk. It's also not far to Hyde Park, etc. The immediate area surrounding the hotel wasn't my favorite--Edgeware Road is a very busy commercial street with a ton of convenience stores and Halal shops.
The hotel is very large--do not stay here expecting a 'boutique' character. However, staff were very helpful, processes ran efficiently, and all public areas were tastefully decorated.
The hotel's executive lounge was very spacious; seating was not a problem. The evening offering was pleasant, with tasty canapes and beverages.
My room (king) was very spacious by London standards and had tasteful, modern decor and smart storage/lots of plugs/functional internet, etc. It was quiet and I was not disturbed by neighbors or lots of street noise. The bathroom was lovely and the water pressure outstanding.
Would certainly stay again, particularly if needing to travel easily to/from Paddington Station.

NO.
It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The last straw was finding fecal matter in the accessible bathroom. They gave me a room like that, but I had requested a common room. The television is a disaster, it has no channels and it is not smart.
