This is an affordable place to stay in expensive London, particularly as the room comes with a small kitchen, so you can make some simple meals yourself. Our room was very small – the bed could only be left on one side – but one is not in the room that often in London. There is no lift, but quite steep stairs. Towels are only changed once a week, but the 24-hour reception is very friendly and will give you fresh ones when you need them. We also got a bottle of wine as welcome, and could check in already at 11.30 in the morning (and were offered a free late checkout). Location very good, just a 10 minutes’ walk to St. Pancras, Euston and King’s Cross railway and Metro stations. We would stay there again!

I really recommend these studios, especially if you're travelling on business and like to self-cater. It's close to Kings Cross yet is on a quiet crescent and it has its own internal garden space. Rooms vary from basic studio to studios with balcony or patio. All have good kitchen facilities, some with ovens. Toiletries are provided, including dental kit of brush and toothpaste which is a nice touch. The reception is always very welcoming. I much prefer this location to its sister company on Gower St.

Had a lovely time here on a budget for New Year’s Eve, great value for money and good experience. Had a deal for large budget studio and it was beautiful, a nice place to return to away from busy London in a quiet area near good bookshops and cafes. Really comforting to have an accessible reception to call also. Staff were friendly. Was pleasantly surprised to find that they provided the service of a very good hotel in the rooms for an apartment, with hairdryers available etc. Will definitely return to this great spot.

It's difficult to rate this place. I wished I could give 3.5 stars.

Pros: Good price. Excellent location. It was within 10 mins walk to 3 different underground stations. Of my 6 days in London, I was able to get to everything from this place via tube without changing lines. Plenty of good food around.

Cons: The room was really small. If you travel light with just a carry-on luggage, it should work ok being creative on setting out your belongings. No housekeeping. I could get fresh towels by exchanging at front desk. Toiletry was also available for pick up at front desk instead of replenishing in-room. I ended up buying my own as it's a hassle to keep going to the front desk. It was pretty cold during my stay. The heater kind of work, not completely.

Overall, it's good value. It's in central London yet quiet area, making it very nice. If you're staying just a couple of nights with carry-on luggage only, it should work fine. If you are staying longer, it depends what travel style you are. With this place, you have to sacrifice some comfort for the great location and cost.

We happened upon these accommodations due to A) The lock-down, and B) Sheer chance. In spite of everything happening outside, the Studios here at Cartwright Gardens have been a delightful, peaceful oasis of tranquility in the heart of central London. Giuseppe and Raul handle front desk duties and have always been very helpful if we need anything at all. The place is kept spotlessly clean at all times. Weekly linen and towel service is appreciated, as are the free washers and dryers(!) located downstairs. Each studio has a small but well-stocked kitchen, needing only your food to make complete meals. There is also an ample lounge area, where my son has been able to use to practice his music and even perform with some other guests. Behind the building is a lovely garden space for relaxing and taking sun. The location itself could not be more centrally located. As the city reopens this is an ideal stepping-off point for wonderful museums, parks, and the British Library just around the corner. Conveniently served by train/Tube and bus service to all points. I have stayed in many places across the city, and for the price, this is an excellent value for central London.

We absolutely loved this place. We are a young couple travelling with just backpacks who want to see and do EVERYTHING in a city. The main reason we loved this place was its location to public transport. A very short walk to 3 main tube stations, 1 giant train station, and many bus stops could get us to the main attractions in 15 mins. If you are flying in to Gatwick, you can take a train directly to Saint Pancras (a 5 min walk from here). If you're planning on heading a little outside of town (Windsor Castle or the Harry Potter Studio Tour), you are about 5 mins away from the public transport you'll need to take you right there! This was a godsend for us since we don't spend money on ubers or taxis.

You are also within easy walking distance to many pubs, restaurants, book stores, cafes, laundromats, and grocery stores.

In addition to the location, these rooms are great for a travel couple. They are small but perfect for what we needed. It had a little kitchenette, tv, good wifi, nice bathroom, AMAZING BLANKETS (I think they were weighted or something), just all in all perfect.

Our room was on the top floor and we had a wonderful view of rooftops and a church off in the distance. Even though it's close to a major road, we never heard traffic (only occasional sirens). The shape of the building must be a sound block or something. We had the window open every night and it was perfect. Loved hearing the church bells.

A warning to anyone with bad knees or other mobility issues: ask for a ground floor room if possible. Like most of Europe, no elevators and these stairs are killer when you're on the 3rd floor (technically the 4th floor for you Americans)! I'm a youngin' but after walking 10 miles everyday, I hated coming home with the knowledge that I would have to have one last fight for my life with these stairs before falling into my awesome bed.

For the price and the money saved in easy public transport, I can't recommend this place enough. I would 100% stay here again!

The location is great. Just a couple of blocks from the train and tube station (St Pancras/Kings Cross) There are several great pubs a block or two a way and a large grocery store. The bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in London. Just a note that the laundry is free but only available from 8 am to 8 pm which is tricky when you are on tours

We spent a very comfortable couple of nights here after deciding to have a spur of the moment weekend in London. The rooms are tiny but comfortable, clean and well equipped - with the kitchenette allowing for basic meals if London prices for eating out are too scary!
The location is great for the tourist trail and the main stations, and Bloomsbury itself is lovely.
The service was exceptional, and luggage can be stored free of charge if required.

We are already planning our next visit.

This year I was switched over from the Euston one that I always stay at to the Carwright Gardens one due to an issue with the other which was fine. This one is a bit different in that it actually has a 24-hour desk which is nice for early checkouts or anything else. I also am not used to housekeeping services for my stay, but actually got it one day by surprise. I think you may be able to request it more often, but I'm usually good for a week without any myself, but it was good to have a little extra soap and shampoo that is supplied.

The room I had is identical to some I have had previously at the Euston location for the smallest room, in fact it even had the same painting which was funny.

Rooms are equipped with TV's, stove, cutlery, plates and cooking utensils and pots and such. This unit had a decent size fridge, but the freezer was in another cupboard. I don't know if they are all like this as I recall some at the Euston location may have had both in the same appliance. Either way, if you don't see something, it's probably there, you just have to explore all the cupboards in the unit to find what you're looking for.

Independent heating and cooling are nice as well, with the AC on the wall and the heat as an actual heater you turn on. So again, heat and AC are both separate controls in different parts of the room.

Enough places to store your things in closets or drawers and there are a lot of outlets, at least in my room, however, again, you have to look for them. In my unit they were all right under the TV, not viewable if you were standing up. Again, you just have to look for things you want.

Bathroom was the same as Euston's location. Comes with toiletries and is small, but I'm used to that at Studio2Let's as well as other London hotels so that didn't bother me, as it might for first timers to the city.

There are of course no elevators, so being 3 floors means you could be climbing a number of stairs each time to your place, just be warned.

Location wise, I found Cartwright to be a lot quieter than Euston at night, right across from some tenis courts in the park. The downfall of the location, is that it's a bit further to get to any of the underground stations than the Euston one is, however, you are closer in proximity to more lines I believe. All 3 closest stations are around a 8 min walk or so, Euston Sq and Warren are a bit further. Again, no too bad, but crossing Euston Rd can be a pain.

I booked in for one night, looking at the pictures I was excited to stay here. Don't believe pictures.
Staff were not overly welcoming. I checked in online gave pictures of my documents and had to do the same when I arrived that was a waste of time. Checking out very ignorant lady.

The room was so tiny. The bed exceptionally low. The quilt and cushions are old or cheap. Bedding was ripped at the edge. The cooker and worktop was so high I couldn't reach into the sink properly but the angle of it didn't help. The patio doors were not secure. Wooden old, peeling and rotting and no proper lock. The curtains were hung badly very thin and old.let all the light in.
The two chairs worn out and uncomfortable.
The kettle lead was too short the kettle sat on the edge of the cooker not safe at all so I boiled it on the floor instead. Multiple plugs together half didn't work.
The floor was laminate absolutely freezing not even a rug by the bed.

The TV is past its sell buy date.
The bathroom looked lovely until you tried to use it.
If you sit on the toilet and are taller than my 4ft 11 your knees touch the wall.
The shower is a joke its tiny the door opens half way and doesn't close or open easily. The towels were so small more like hand towels.
The sink in the bathroom is a hand wash basin you couldn't have a proper wash. The glass shelf above it stops you bending into the sink while cleaning your teeth. The shelf was tiny no space to put anything. The hook on the bathroom door was no use for holding towels either.

If you have a disability forget it. Not accessible at all.
Will not be back.

Euston Station is only a few blocks away and from there you have access all over the city. You can access both branches of the Northern Line via either Euston Station or Warren St. Use the Euston Square Station (not Eustion Station one) to cross under Euston Road rather than waiting at the lights if you are planning on using Warren St. Gatwick access you can take the Victoria Line from Warren St to Victoria Station and there you can get the express and non express trains to Gatwick airport...
