A Georgian townhouse full of English charm, The Montague on the Gardens excels in traditional service and warm, generous hospitality. Located in literary Bloomsbury, just steps from the British Museum, we are famous for al-fresco dining and wonderfully fun pop-ups, including an alpine themed Ski Lodge in winter and a Hawaiian Beach Bar in the summer. Our chic Leopard Bar offers live jazz, whilst the conservatory is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea overlooking peaceful gardens.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff and service amazing plus great location means a terrific option plus walking distance to SoHo and Bond St. Chalet room classic with summer surf shack on the way. Rooms were tiny and creaking floors amusing. Piano bar with cheetah design a strange hit

Hotel's Favourite
My daughter and I stayed at The Montague on the Gardens after watching the double showing of Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. As the hotel is only a 10 minute walk away, we checked in between part 1 and part 2. Having mentioned that I was bringing my daughter to London to watch the play when I booked, we were stunned to be greeted with some delicious treats in our room accompanied by some handmade mini Harry Potter books to "remind us of the journey so far"! My 12 year old was over the moon. Generally, the staff just couldn't be nicer, more helpful or more professional. Check in was efficient, welcoming and friendly. I'd forgotten to ask for our preferred bed set up before arriving so they quickly moved us to a different room to accommodate this. We were greeted at the entrance and helped with our luggage to our room and shown how everything worked. On our return, after the second part of the play, we decided to go to the bar for a cocktail and mocktail. My cosmopolitan was delicious and despite it not being on the menu, they made my daughter a "nojito" which is her favourite drink. We then retired to our exceptionally comfy bedroom and my daughter ordered some chicken noodle soup from the room service menu, while I made us a hot chocolate each from the complimentary hot drinks in our room. The soup came quickly and was apparently delicious. There were plenty of places to plug in our various chargers and devices and we had a good night's sleep. In the morning, I let my daughter sleep in and then we headed to breakfast. I had manged to get my days and times muddled and they'd already started to clear away. Despite this, they ushered us to a table for 2, checked with the chef and then offered us some eggs if we wanted any and showed us where the pastries, juices, cereals etc. were. They then took my coffee order. It was so kind of them as we love a hotel breakfast and would have been so disappointed to miss out. Finally, we checked out with the same level of friendliness and professionalism that we had experienced throughout our stay. I have stayed at Red Carnation Hotels on several occasions and there are many reasons I keep coming back. They clearly have an excellent recruitment and training programme as I have never had a bad stay or come across any single member of staff that has been anything other than delightful. Thank you to everyone who helped to make our stay so enjoyable.

Such a lovely hotel. I had a single room and although it was small, it was one of the best rooms I have ever been. Clean, comfortable bed, great service and just overall lovely place. Good location, however at the same time peaceful. Breakfast little limited, but good quality. Would definitely visit again and worth every penny.

I took my mother on a trip to London and wanted us to stay somewhere very special with English charm -- the Montague on the Gardens delivered in spades! The service was top-notch and all of our needs were not just met, but exceeded in every way. The whole team truly made it a point to make us feel welcome and anything we needed, they were more than happy to oblige. The rooms are a wonderful size, quite spacious for London, with a regal, warm feel that was so inviting. We thank the whole team for making our trip so memorable and I look forward to returning in the future with others. I visit London often and this location was fabulous, too. For being so close to the British Museum, the street is quiet, but still close to all the action as well as the Tube. The Montague has my full recommendation!

A wonderful stay at the Montagu on the gardens ! The room was very quiet and so lovely. All the staff were friendly and thoughtful, especially Levante, Mustapha and the waitresses during the breakfast which was, by the way, amazing. We'll be back!

This hotel is one of the best in London with excellent staff. We were met at the door by Abi, the amazing doorman who greets everyone with the greatest smile and marvellous welcome. We were shown to our room - a stylish, beautifully designed, comfortable and quiet bedroom. We had lunch in the hotel, great food, served by friendly and competent staff. Breakfast was also good with a selection of very fresh produce, hot and cold. In the evening we spent a couple of hours listening to a talented jazz saxophonist and drinking superb cocktails. The following evening we arrived back late to sample more drinks and have a spot of late night supper in our room. All in all a truly wonderful weekend and we look forward to our next stay at this exceptional hotel.

We stayed a week at The Montague, and while the hotel itself was lovely and comfortable, it was the people who made it feel like home away from home! Staff in the lobby never failed to greet us with "Good morning!" and "Welcome back, have you had a good day?" Everett, Andrew, Sophie and others enthusiastically fulfilled every request and delighted us with a few surprises as well. Mustafa at the concierge desk provided wise advice daily and personally secured us a last-minute reservation at The Ivy (our best meal in London). We never saw the housekeepers but our room was always tidy and spotless, and we looked forward to finding out what treat awaited us on our pillows each night. We could not have been more pleased with our time at The Montague and will certainly return to stay with them next time we visit London!

Our visit with our friends were amazing! The rooms were nice and cozy, the staff were all lovely! The Leopard bar was really nice plus the cocktails were so good! It was just so funny that my partner’s shirt coincidentally matches our rooms wallpaper as well ! But all in all we feel so welcome staying here for even just for one night and its so close to the museum as well! Thank you so much for making our stay a great one!

My wife and I have stayed at the Montague on The Gardens a number of times but I feel compelled to post another review. Our latest two day trip to our 'go to' London hotel to celebrate my wifes birthday was, as always, faultless. From the moment we arrived to checking out the service and professionalism at the Montgue is exemplary and exeeds many far more expensive hotels I have stayed at in the past. All the staff are attentive without being overbearing, the room, unexpectedly upgraded, was perfect, the card and sweet treats for my wife's birthay made it extra special. Finally a very special thankyou to concierge Mustafa. You are the ultimate proffesional. To anyone reading this review considering a stay at the Montague you wont be disapointed. Staff, rooms, location, service are five star.

The Montague is a classic luxurious British hotel with all the modern amenities. From the moment you enter the front door (after having been met at the curb by staff) you are treated to a warm, friendly, very English experience. The beds are comfortable, the showers are luxurious "rain" from the ceiling, there are plenty of outlets including outlets for UK, EU and US plugs and there are lots of little personalized touches in your room including a welcome card to you personally from the Manager. The afternoon cream tea is the best in the area. The concierge staff will help with everything you could possibly need including tickets to a sold-out show in the West End! Everyone is friendly, professional and very helpful. This was not my first time at the Montague and I will not stay anywhere else in London. Plus the location is perfect for all the things I enjoy doing in London. Absolute 4-star experience.
