I don't remember when was the last time I wanted to write a good reference. However, I was so impressed with Astor Hyde Park hostel, that I would definitely give it more than 5 stars!

I can say for sure that it was the best hostel in London I've ever visited. For such money you won't find a better place to stay. Astor has everything you need: a comfortable room, useful facilities, great design, wonderful location, awesome atmosphere...I liked everything!

Personnel is also very helpful and understanding. When I had to check out, I needed to leave my luggage till the next day. On the information desk I found out that unfortunately they cannot keep it overnight. Astor offers visitors a storage for free and it can be full on weekends - the time when I wanted to leave my bag.

However, when I explained my situation to the girl on a reception desk, she agreed to keep my bag till the next day, which was extremely helpful. And they didn't even charge me! While in other hostels you should pay at least £3 even if you want to leave your luggage for a few hours until check in.

Therefore, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the owners and to all people who work there. Thank you for making inexpensive and comfortable traveling possible! I'm really glad that nowadays not every hostel cares just about money, charging for every single thing. In Astor I felt that first of all, they care about people. That's why I definitely recommend them!

Continue in the same spirit:)

Very good location, 10 minute walk from Gloucester Rd Station, so access to Piccadily / Circle and District lines.. Literally round the corner from Queens Gate, Kensington Gardens, Royal Albert Hall, V&A , Science and Natural History Museums. Basic accommodation in shared rooms with bunk beds. Clean and reasonably comfortable. Locker storage under bed. Ensuite bathroom in smaller rooms. Clean, well lit and warm. Plenty of sockets. BE AWARE NO LIFT. If you have mild mobility issues, request bottom bunk and room on ground or first floor if possible. Very friendly , helpful staff, and was a quiet place to sleep.

Since the day I have arrived my experience has been awful. The day I arrived, there was no cards to acess the rooms left, so I had to call the staff everytime I wanted to leave and enter my room, wich always took a long time, or as they sugested “leave a shoe at the door” to keep it from closing, compromising the security of everyone in the room. Then, they told me that the heater for the water in the showers was damaged and the shower was going to be cold, but they were fixing it righaway. It topk them 4 days to fix it. Last but not least, the bathroom of my room was always so dirty and the toylet was clogged with poop in it for 2 days. There was suposed to be another bathroom but it is closed for repair since saturday.
This hostel was expensive and for the kind of service they are offering they shouldn’t even be opened. The manager was never avaluable to talk and solve the problems. Never going to step my foot there again.

6 students stayed in room 35 on the 3rd floor for two nights as part of a university trip to visit art galleries and museums. The 3 rooms in the hostel were booked because of location and the very positive reviews.
On the first night a rat was running around the floor and going through items in the luggage.
A report was made at reception around 1am but the staff member working there said he couldn’t enter the room and would ring someone in the morning. He didn’t seem at all surprised the rat was there. There was rat poison noted on the floor under the bottom bunk.
The rat was forced into the bathroom so people could try sleep. Unfortunately when the bathroom was being used he went back inside the room and was there for the next day and 2nd night. The course leader who made the booking will be in touch for a full refund because of this environmental health hazard that staff already appeared to be aware of. Would not recommend.

The room was for two but it was too small for even one person. There was a bunk bed but on booking.com it just said “two single beds”. It was impossible to use the bathroom without having to move the trash can that was next to it, due to the small space, and it was impossible to even wash your face without getting water all over yourself given how small the sink was (I used a hair comb for scale). Plus, there are timed flow taps so you must decide if you wanna freeze with cold water or boil with hot water, that’s honestly unacceptable.
There were some hairs in the shower plate, and some used soap from a previous guest I suppose. Also, there was a pair of gloves on the bedside table that was left behind by someone. The sheets were stained and some electric outlets did not work.

The only reason why I would recommend it is because it is really close to the Royal Albert Hall, so if you need to go there, it’ll be a 10 minute walk, otherwise, I’d never come back.

My friends and I had to check out of Astor Hyde Park immediately after checking in because of how disgusting and creepy this place was. We were violated by a man after being in the room for about two minutes. He was in bed, not wearing any clothes, and staring at us while doing ~other things~ under the covers. The facilities were disgusting and vomit and feces was covering the "ensuite." My experience here was traumatic and extremely unsafe. No one should stay here.

This place is run by children. The kids who work here have an overinflated sense of themselves. They talk down to adults and seem to think they are running the world running a hostel in Victoria. It’s funny in a way but kind of not ok when you are a well educated Londoner and they are all foreign tourists working on the go. Karthik is the rudest young boy I have ever met. The reception staff will tell you how to wipe your own bum even if you have a PhD.

Never visit the Hostel with a larger group. On arrival on Sunday most of the rooms were not clean. Dirty bed linen and disgusting mattresses, towels not cleaned away are just examples of an “unfortunate” reception. Breakfast on the first morning for 45 people consisted of a pack of toast (with a toaster), half a glass of jam, various cereals with bloated milk cones. No coffee, no tea. The fact that we had to rinse ourselves went fine, but the sponge and the kitchen towels were to the K...! And if you store your own food in the fridge, it disappears despite being labelled. If you are already giving yourself evaluations, they should at least be realistic in some ways.

I stayed for 3 days and it was a horrible experience. This place is totally irresponsible. The heating in my single room didn't work, and the solution of the receptionist was to offer me a second blanket. He didn't even try to contact somebody to repair the heating. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSTEL
