The Megaro Hotel garners appreciation for its unique and quirky decor, with rooms that impress guests with their cleanliness and comfort, despite some reports of wear and poor lighting. While the noise from the bustling streets and nearby plaza divides opinion, the service at The Megaro consistently receives accolades for its friendly and attentive staff.
Nestled in a prime location, the hotel is a stone's throw from major transport hubs, enhancing its appeal. Moreover, the amenities and overall cleanliness are frequently highlighted, contributing to its charm despite mixed views on its value.

Great location (across the street from tube and King’s Cross rail), great and friendly service, and wonderful restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner. Our daughter’s flight came in earlier than expected, and when we told the front desk that she and her husband and infant were arriving after an overnight flight, they let them check in early and gave them a room upgrade. We so liked the dinner we had the night before that we ate there a second night with our daughter’s family, and they loved it as well, and complimented the staff for their family (and infant) friendliness. We all appreciated the nice beds, the easy to figure out bathrooms, and the quiet one doesn’t expect from a hotel so close to a major train station.

GOOD : - Excellent location for arriving via Eurostar: it is opposite St Pancras Station (and King's Cross Station). - Excellent location for traveling throughout the London metropolis: metro entrance at the foot of the building, with 6 lines with direct access. - The Megaro has a unique visual identity for the decor (reception, bedroom, dining room) which has a certain charm. - The included breakfast is served at the table in the upper room of the adjoining Italian restaurant, with a choice between 5 savory dishes then between 3 sweet accompaniments. Everything we tried was good and well prepared. Unlimited tea, filter coffee and juice (Orange or apple). - The staff are generally smiling.
Less good : - The expeditious welcome, without any information on breakfast for the next day for example. - The condition of certain elements of the room: woodwork in the bathroom which has aged badly, toilet flush which does not work properly, double curtain whose rod is detached from the ceiling - Outside noise: Euston Rd is an artery with a lot of car traffic. Horns and sirens can be heard loudly, despite 2 layers of glass. When you get used to it it works (like in New York for example), otherwise bring earplugs. - For the record, blocked on 30/12 by the total stoppage of Eurostar traffic, we arrived on site on 31/12 24 hours late. We were immediately informed that the night before had been taken from us even before our arrival, without any commercial gesture which would take into account conditions beyond our control. It's rough.

A friend recommended the Megaro to me years ago, and I have never stayed anywhere else since then. The location is perfect: just across the street from King's Cross, which means that not only do you have great access to transportation, but the train station is a place to pick up stray items you forgot to bring along, or to get a meal or a snack. I ask for front rooms overlooking the street, but there are quieter rooms as well, in the back. Even the street-facing rooms are relatively quiet because of the double-glazed windows. The very best part of the hotel, however, is the staff. The Megaro desk staff and cleaning crews are the best: warm, highly professional, very understanding and welcoming. I can't say enough about how much I like this hotel. It's more than I usually pay for lodgings, but I find it worth it (and London is so expensive anyway...)

We chose this hotel because it looked quirky and was very close to St. Pancras and Eurostar. The Reception area was impressive and the lady who upgraded us was very friendly and helpful although, with hindsight, we wondered why we were asked to pre-authorise an amount of £100 when the main restaurant was closed, apparently for refurbishment, and the only other restaurant was Spagnoletti where we were not allowed to sign for dinner and wine but had to pay separately, despite an apparent agreement between Megaro and Spagnoletti. It was all very confusing and did not encourage my husband to consider staying here again. Despite the upgrade we felt the room was underwhelming and in need of some renovation, especially the carpet. We arrived early for breakfast and were seated immediately and served by a very friendly, helpful waiter. We appreciated that breakfast was served and not a buffet. The menu was limited to one item from the bakery and one from the kitchen. From the bakery I chose the pastries with a choice of a croissant or a pain au chocolat, my husband chose the granola and yoghurt, decorated with berries. The third choice was fruit salad. There were five imaginative choices from the kitchen section of the menu. I chose poached eggs on sourdough toast with avocado and chilli and my husband chose poached eggs with smoked salmon. Full English and full Italian were also offered. The quality of the food was very good and the coffee was bottomless.

In London 1 evening on way to Edinburgh. Chose hotel due to very convenient proximity to King's Cross rail station, but was only able to experience less than 24 hours, so review reflects that. Upon entering lobby, immediately enjoyed the steampunk-insipired decor. Reception was pleasant, however neglected to cover Wifi, restaurant, coffee info with us upon checking in. Just a nit, but less calls to the front desk asking questions. Stayed in room 211 in which (IMO) the steampunk decor was overly committed - picture black metallic walls and ceiling and "steam trunk" features around mirrors, headboard, etc. While easy to overlook matters of taste, the lighting in the room was severely lacking making it nearly impossible—even with window shades drawn completely open—to see one's clothing in the suitcase. The rooms all apparently have varying aesthetics, so would avoid this room or any similar to it if staying longer than a day. Needing to travel relatively early next day, coffee was important. The coffee maker in our room was inoperable, and after going down to inquire at front desk learned that service didn't start until 8am and the gent in at the desk had to scratch his head for a sec to think about where to send us (down the street just a bit). Again, not a huge deal ... unless you're a coffee drinker (like us). Management: Coffee availability early and in the lobby is an inexpensive and really an easy way to keep your guests happy! So, location (to King's Cross station and to St. Pancras which is GORGEOUS) absolutely gets this hotel a plus as well as the creative lobby decor. The hours we were there, we weren't able to see or enjoy any of the hotel amenities which unfortunately weren't open at the time.

As soon as we stepped into the foyer of The Megaro we knew we had made a good choice. The foyer is steampunk themed which we loved. We got a lovely welcome from the staff. We had Room 205, a big corner room with a great view across to Kings Cross and St Pancras. The room is decorated in a Brit Art punky theme, an extremely comfy bed and a lovely bathroom with a monsoon shower. Loads of storage space room. A great mini-bar with lots in it, the first lot of snacks and drinks are free but then you pay if you use the restocked items. Despite the room overlooking the main road we hardly heard the traffic, it’s very well sound insulated. If you like unusual cocktails then visit Hokus Pokus, the cocktail bar in the hotel basement, a real treat and a great experience!

We had an amazing time during our stay here. The location is perfect for mooching around, with delicious food at the coal drops yard and the station just outside the door. The hotel is beautiful with extremely helpful staff, spotless room and bathroom and kind and considerate touches. We were delighted to be upgraded to the pop diva themed room as a birthday gift and our bags were taken to our room ahead of our arrival (we stored them there whilst siteseeing). We both agree we’d recommend the hotel to anyone and hope the first visit won’t be our last. The only small disappointment was that the cocktail Lou be wasn’t open on a Sunday but the complementary Prosecco and other kind gestures more than made up for that! Thank you xx

I had been to Megaro in 2019 and I had wonderful memories of it which I confirm! Excellent location opposite King's Cross station served by several tube lines, you can move around the city very quickly. The rooms are equipped with every comfort, above all they are spacious which is not easy to find in London. Staff available for anything, at the reception Alice made me feel at home straight away, kind and friendly! An excellent welcome! Thank you! See you soon Megaro!!

One of the best kept secrets in london, the Mergaro hotel is unassuming , edgy, vibrant and sensational with its views - its location is unrivalled and the service is excellent. We have stayed here now 5 or so times and have had some amazing experiences. Fillipo the manager understands hospitality to its finest details and has a charming and personal approach to ensuring his guests have a comfortable stay. The rooms are designed around the resident experience, have all the amenities and some of the views are pretty spectacular. Situated opposite King’s Cross station, london is on your doorstep and then when you’re done exploring you can return to the comfort of this stylish hotel to recharge. We loved staying here and the personalised touches to our stay were very much appreciated- thanks Fillipo and team Megaro - we will see you again soon.
