Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Disappointed with meal. We went with friends for lunch and 2 ordered sirloin steak...it was cold and tough. Other meals were acceptable, but at £26 each, if wasn't worth the money. I won't be returning.

We have eaten many times in the Tower Hotel restaurant, so we booked again for a Friday night. The hotel bar and garden were packed with happy customers. The restaurant was not very busy. The service we received was excellent. The martini cocktails were delicious. The food was oh so disappointing. Pork belly was mostly a large piece of fat, barely cooked and slimy skin - no sign of crackling. The lemon sole resembled a thin piece of leather. The hot salmon salad was leaves with some cold shredded salmon slivers. The chicken was lukewarm, hard and overcooked. The beef was very good though!! Hopefully, this was an ‘off’ night in the kitchen, or the start of a new era. I don’t think we’ll be returning to the restaurant.

Purely a restaurant review. Have been a couple of times now. They have multiple menus and are okay with you mix and matching. Prices are pretty standard. Location is superb, under the walls of the Castle. Food was hot, service was great and friendly. I'd eat here again.

We stayed here, for one night, on Easter Sunday and had an excellent experience, from start to finish ! Louisa took our booking - she was so efficient, friendly and really professional. We stayed in Room 1 - quirky, spotless, super-comfy bed and a beautiful new bathroom. All fabulous ! We booked Sunday lunch there, where we had other family joining us and wow what a choice :) Our three course lunch was phenomenal !!! We are passionate foodies and eat out lots, this is without doubt one of the best Sunday lunches that we have ever had. The quality of produce, the finesse and skill, within the kitchen brigade, is apparent. The service we received was second-to-none, every single member of the team were just lovely and seasoned—professionals. I must add that the atmosphere too, was so fantastic too, the vibe was buzzing … we loved it !! The let us stay at our table for hours, even though it was super-busy, whilst we grazed on our courses and drank plenty !! Our sleep was fantastic and breakfast was delicious, of course too !! My other half had a work commitment nearby the next morning (coincidentally) and they even made him a takeaway bacon sandwich and a coffee , as he had to leave early, leaving me to do some shopping before his return. Furthermore, they gave me a complimentary late-checkout ! Lastly, they even let my boyfriend use a bathroom, to shower in, on his return from his work engagement, which of course they would have to service again after …. I mean could you really ask for more !!! I also work in hospitality, at 5 star level and I absolutely know what makes 5 stars - this gem of a hotel and restaurant deserves every excellent review, repeat business and genuine success …. We absolutely will be back soon, plus we shall recommend yourselves, sincerely, far and wide. Thank you …. Hasta luego !

My friend and myself went there for Sunday lunch. My first time and the lady I went with had been several times. I was extremely impressed by the layout of the restaurant and the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. The food was top quality and beautifully cooked. I will certainly visit again.

Just stayed for 1 night, this hotel is excellent. The room was spacious and clean, plenty of towels and great shower. The staff are all polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast included which was amazing and plentiful. Will definitely stay again.

An excellent stay at the Tower Hotel for a few days break. Well situated, very clean, quiet, friendly staff and pleasant interior. The breakfast was excellent too with a good choice. The parking permit was also a great bonus. Highly recommended.

The food was great for all six in our party, and the service was friendly and efficient. We were so pleased we had chosen this restaurant for our Sunday lunch/celebrations. We all had a good time. There were other choices on the menu, should you not want a Sunday roast.
