Fieldhead Hotel offers a range of praised amenities, including rooms with large TVs and baths, alongside various dining options that create a generally quiet and serene environment. While the rooms are often lauded for their cleanliness and comfort, there have been occasional mentions of maintenance issues. The dining experience receives mixed reviews, with some guests finding meals overpriced despite the overall value being occasionally celebrated. Service quality seems inconsistent, with reports of both commendable attention and slow responses. The atmosphere is typically seen as relaxed, though not without its critiques regarding dated decor and noise.

This is an exceptionally nice hotel for the price, I was greeted by a pleasant gentleman on reception, who swiftly booked me in and another gentleman asked if I needed help with my luggage.
We had booked a superior room and it was beautiful, spotlessly clean with a calm ambience. The bed and pillows were super comfy and we should have had an excellent night's sleep. This was important as it was a respite break for my partner who is full time carer to his mother, getting just two nights off a month . Unfortunately the guests next door had other ideas!
They were quite loud early evening, playing music and lots of swearing but then they went out and all was quiet until 4am when they returned, obviously a lot worse for wear! They proceeded to have a massive fight; shouting, swearing and things being thrown around. Just as we were about to ring reception, the fire alarm sounded, starting from their room.
We evacuated as fast as possible and congregated with other patrons in the car park. The member of staff on duty that night was fabulous, he promptly went to the room in question to check it out, getting a foul mouthed load of abuse for his trouble, but he remained calm and professional throughout. The aforementioned couple carried on their fight for a while longer once we got back to our room, so safe to say, this was not the relaxing break we had hope for and was actually quite frightening. Thankfully, they only stayed one night, so our second night was relatively calm and peaceful.
I have deducted one star for this, despite the fact the hotel can not be held responsible for the behaviour of guests, because we had expected at least an apology from a member of the management team but the incident was not mentioned again by anyone except the poor man who had had to deal with it the night before.

I'm in two minds as to whether I'd stay again, the hotel and room were truly lovely but we did leave feeling as though we were insignificant to senior staff.

Thank you for taking the time to put your comments online. I was so sorry to hear that the party goers had set the alarms off. This is not the normal here, in the two years i have been manager at the Fieldhead it is the first time that somebody has set the alarms off through the night. We do hope you return again and my apologies for you being woke up. Kind regards Jason Chappell

I went to the Fieldhead Hotel to enquire about booking a space for a 50th birthday gathering of 30 people. Jason was so accommodating with providing me his time to listen to how I wanted my party and did his upmost best to make sure I got everything I needed. And he didn’t fail. Jason decorated the 3 rooms with white linen table cloths, put fairy lights on to jazz up the spaces and also put candles on each table to add a finishing touch. I was so impressed and it made it so much easier for me to add my personal touch and add the birthday decorations which I wanted. My Echo dot would not connect but Ceran the assistant manager was so kind he let me use his personal Bluetooth music player which he charged up for me. He made sure I had everything I needed. I want to say thank you to Skye, Ceran, Meg and Lily for making sure we all had a drink and attending to anything that people needed.

Now let’s talk about the food. I organised a buffet and every guest at the party complimented the food and said that the spread was tasty, fresh, well prepared and presented. Jason even made sure they catered for my two gluten-free guests and labelled them on the table. The buffet gets a 5 star. Jason again ensured that we were happy at all times before he clocked off shift and handed over his Deputy Manager Sean to make sure we had everything we needed for the night. Sean was very pleasant and made sure our party was running smoothly. He even came and spoke to me at the end of the night and asked if we all had a goodnight. I honestly
would recommend the Fieldhead hotel to anyone interested in hiring out function room. My recommendation would be to ask for the 3 spaces below the restaurant and Barr. It’s a hidden gem! Thank you Fieldhead for a great evening. The birthday brothers and guest left very happy indeed and all had a great night.
Five star review from me!

My wife and I came here to have a relaxing night away. The staff we encountered seemed friendly enough. The room was very nice and the bed was huge and really comfy. We could hear the guy snoring in the room next door over the sound of our TV, so the soundproofing isn't the best. Our bathroom was in need of a slight refurb though , see attached photos. There was nobody on reception at check in time, just a sign saying come to the bar if the desk isn't manned. The same thing happened at check out, so we just left our key on the desk and noticed there were already some other room keys there too. Overall, we had a good stay and we'd return, as the comfort of the room and location was ideal for us.

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times but unfortunately, last night will be my last. When checking in I was greeted by a receptionist eating her dinner, I would’ve said it was slightly unprofessional but she let me know it was her birthday yesterday so it was a treat. I’m glad the lighting in the corridors was sufficient as I could have tripped over the numerous huge bedding bags. I'm not sure if the hotel is used by drug traffickers or just general drug users but I was then horrified to have found drug paraphernalia including weighing scales and medication in my room. Obviously beyond poor cleaning of rooms especially considering the current covid 19 pandemic! I am beyond disgusted. I immediately went to make a complaint but unfortunately, there is no reception staff at night so I complained to who I assume is the bar manager. I handed him what I had found in my room and to my amazement, he was quick to make a joke about it instead of an apology. The room was dusty and dirty. I found what looked like chewing gum stuck to the milk sachets and a champagne bottle top on the floor. The bathroom was mouldy and had a huge crack in the sink which not only I assume would be a safety concern but it would be a perfect breeding ground for germs/bacteria based on the lack of cleanliness in the room. Sky Wifi was available but only worked in the restaurant/bar and not the room.

Because of my job we made a visit here for a "valentines meal" on Wednesday 12th for which we had to book a table with a deposit. When we arrived we went to the bar to see where we were booked in, "just take any table over there" waved the bar maid. "when you've chosen your food just come and order at the bar" she said. So, in essence it was a normal night! The table, we thought, would have maybe had a rose and a candle at the very least on it, but no, nothing, just a normal pub night! I proceeded back to the bar to order, everything went smoothly👍. The food came out promptly, the wrong food! Wouldn't have minded so much but there was only 3 more tables occupied. The food was OK when we finally got it. Field head, if you are going to advertise this as a special occasion at least make the attempt to make it look kind of special. We got married here in 2004 when a gentleman called Shaun was in charge, maybe they should get him back as it just seems to have gone down and down, the staff only seem interested in the locals and make "outsiders" feel second best. Very poor experience and am going to find it hard to return😔.

I stayed with a group of friends, I stayed in Bedroom 6, first impressions were not good. When i opened the bedroom door i was met with an over powering smell of air freshner. The room was clean but very very tired. Paintwork particularly in the bathroom looked as if it hadnt seen a tin of gloss for years. My bedroom looked onto a small patio area that was accessed by the bar. This led to listening to a ton of noise from drunk people talking at the top of their voice. I hardly slept for two nights as the walls between rooms are so thin you could hear every word from the rooms adjacent, not to mention the cross corridor fire door banging all the time. Food was perfectly ok and reasonable value. Service was polite and friendly although pretty slow, id hazard a guess they are understaffed as the few staff on show were certainly working hard. Other slight niggles for the seasoned traveller - no sockets next to the bed.
I mentioned the noise and lack of sleep to the staff at breakfast time and also when checking out, the response was simply 'oh' sorry about that, the walls are thin!

When checking in on the friday evening the bar was very busy with a number of drunk groups being incredibly loud - fine for a pub but not great for a hotel.

I had a one night at the Fieldhead Hotel. The receptionist originally from the Philippines was very cheerful, and her warm welcome made me feel like I had made the right choice in staying here.
The room appeared modern, was of a good size and it had a comfortable bed. It was really nice that the room was warm on arrival and throughout my stay.
There are clear signs of wear and tear in the room, which have been patched up over time.
The room had a bath, which I think was the hottest I have ever had, something I was also very happy with. The shower, which I didn't use, looked looked old and basic.
I had dinner at the hotel which came with 20% of a staying guest. The only thing on the menu that was appealing was the seabass which unfortunately they did not have. I instead had the pie which was plentiful, but pretty average.
Breakfast was also included in the room rate. There was a small self-serve area for cereal and juices, with everything else ordered from a menu. I anticipated a good breakfast if it was made to order. I ordered eggs royale which was presented in a runny pool of hollandaise sauce which covered the muffins and the entire plate. Breakfast was the biggest letdown in the hotel, and can only be described as unpleasant.
Had I not eaten at the hotel, this would have got 4* rather than 3.

10 people and a dog stayed in 5 rooms for a motorcycle reunion. The rooms were clean, had a nice tea tray, lovely bed, clean linens and towels and done the job for what we all needed at a very good price. We all ate in the restaurant and had a good service from Toni and her team. Although we had ordered our food prior to arriving some of us wanted starters and desserts etc, and of this was all accommodated. This is not a criticism, but just a little comment as this would have earned a 5 star rating; we had to keep asking for our table / plates to be cleared after we had eaten, a few plates were taken away and then we were forgotten and I had to ask again a couple more times, and for the table to be wiped over but this never happened. Other than that the food was very good.

The reception girls; Reya, Roxy and Miriam were all very friendly and helpful.

As we all had such a good stay we will possibly be organising another motorcycle club meet in October.

This is a great place to stay as it has a large feee car park which is covered by CCTV and fee WiFi. We would definitely recommend.

Dear Sarah We are really pleased your party of 10 enjoyed your stay with us in 5 rooms ! Great to hear the bedrooms were clean with nice tea trays, lovely beds, clean linen and all at at a good price. I will let Toni and her team know you received good service and that all your extra requirements for food were accommodated despite having provided a preorder ! I will also point out to the team that they missed out the extra star in your great review because of the lack of attention to clearing and cleaning the table post eating ! Shame but very pleasing to hear your food was very good ! Reya, Roxy and miriam often get special mentions for their level of friendly and helpful customer service and are a real asset to the Fieldhead hotel. It is so reassuring to be told that you had such a great stay you will possibly be organising another motorcycle meet in October and you will be returning if so! Thank you for highlighting our large free secure car park protected by cctv cameras! We will also be offering EV charge points in a couple of months ! We look forward to seeing you again very soon Kind regards Chris and team

We chose this hotel as a good location to gather our family of grown up children to celebrate the youngest 21st as she is at uni in Loughborough. First of all the welcome from Rhea on Reception was lovely, she was very helpful and patient as we sorted the paperwork for 5 rooms.
We had a superior which proved an excellent gathering point for our family of 12, the birthday girl had the four poster and the rest had standard rooms with two extra beds for the grandchildren in one. All very clean and comfortable with good facilities.
We ate in the restaurant and cannot fault the food or the service.
But then there was breakfast the next day - the food was great, when it arrived! Service was incredibly slow and not helped by the wrong orders coming out but we were a party of 12 so we understood the difficulties especially with a staff shortage.
When we mentioned this as the only minor dissatisfaction with the entire stay Roxanne immediately responded with a generous reduction on our bill which just meant we left the Fieldhead very impressed with their customer care. Roxanne had been great prior to our stay helping us with pre orders for the meal and sorting extra beds for the children which, I believe, were at no extra cost.
All in all a lovely stay at a comfortable hotel with excellent food and superb customer service. Hope to return.
