Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travelled an hour and a half to get here. Traffic was at a standstill due to an event at the Winter Gardens so my wife jumped out the car and went in to ask where the car park was. The girl/person behind reception told he they did not have one. Their website clearly say they have parking at a cost of £12 a car. She then back tracked and said yes but only if you book it, which I had via Booking dot com website messenger. We parked on the road and then went in with my little Yorkshire terrier in my arms , the place looked very dirty and grubby so I was thinking we had made a mistake here and the girl/person behind the reception growled at me, "We don't take dogs anymore, we had 2 Alsatians barking the other night and they kept the guest awake!" Unbelievable! So the hotel had decided that for that day (It still says dog friendly on their web and on BDC) that they did not want to take dogs and despite me showing them the booking they would not take them. She then said I am not getting my money back as I did not tell them we were bringing dogs. I asked her to show me where it said you needed to do that to be told, "You should just know!" Never in my life have I been spoken to by someone so rudely and honestly, it looked like and sounded like she was in a foul mood and just took it out on the first person to have walked in. We basically left, walked the dogs on the beach for a bit and went home as there were no hotels close with vacancies due to the event at Winter Gardens. It was a surreal experience and we were scouting for a venue for Xmas so we are glad we did not wait until then to book it. Nightmare, really horrible experience and I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for somewhere to stay, especially if you have dogs. The photos clearly state they accept dogs

Grim. Avoid! In Blackpool for Strictly, arrived and walked straight back out again. Street is unsafe and dark. Room was grim, old electrics, dirty, ancient shower- more suited to an 80’s caravan, door unlocked, hallways dirty and even had other guests undies drying on the radiators! Would be funny if they hadn’t charged us £180 for two nights- asked for a refund and they said they couldn’t as we’d booked thru booking.com. Still waiting on a refund. Give us our money back. Grim doesn’t cut it in reality. Do not stay here. Ever. Minging.

Please avoid like the plaque. First night had to ring down to reception due to a domestic violence incident with the room opposite. You could hear all toilets being flushed at all hours. Dated and tired rooms. Couldn’t sleep there the 2nd night I had booked and paid for due to the couple above us have some “couple time”. If you like cheap and nasty go ahead but really it’s the most disgusting hotel I’ve had the misfortune to stay in!!!

This hotel has to be the worst myself and my wife have ever stayed in. We stayed in room 61, the room was freezing with a tiny radiator at the door that did nothing, there was a wardrobe that was falling apart and when you opened it you had to hold it steady. The bathroom was dirty with no lock on the door, the toilet and shower looked like they had been installed in the 1970s and when we tried the shower it was no more than a trickle. The mattresses on the beds were no thicker than a bath towel and the walls were that thin we were awoken numerous times through the night with noises from other guests. The toilet when flushed made a noise like a ships fog horn and when we used the lift it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. In short if you have booked this hotel then you would be well advised to cancel and look elsewhere

Having arrived at another hotel in the same street where I had booked and upon arrival at that hotel had been told my booking had been cancelled. I enquired at the Melville and they rescued me. They came to my rescue with spades on. Thanks to the staff for acommodating me at no notice at all. Unlike the staff at other hotel the Melville were welcoming, friendly and quick in helping me resolve my now lack of accomodation. 10* Plus. The room was good, and was serviced when I was out the next day. The Full English was a great breakfast. The waiting on staff were wonderful. I cannot praise this hotel enough. If you book and come here I'm convinced you will have a great welcome as I did. Big it up for all at the Melville.

We stayed here earlier this year at the Melville. Big shouts go out to Shaun, Maggie, Peter and Louise. They all go out their way for you. We had a couple of good nights in the bar too, one night there was a guy called Kevin in the bar, he was really helpful and brought our drinks over a few times to save us going to the bar each time. The Singer was Dave Bear, we had a laugh with him and a right good old singalong, nice guy, good with the guests. Food is basic but plenty of it. Bedrooms very clean. Staff make this place and we would return.

Just returned from a two night stay at the Melville Hotel. As far as Blackpool accommodation goes, the Melville isn't bad. The room was dated, but that didn't matter to us as the room was just a place to sleep and we were out during the day. The beds were clean and comfortable. The staff were wonderful and we were well looked after during our stay, especially in the bar area. Thoroughly recommend.

Never known anything like it, rooms tired, missing curtain, which was raised on the day but told as you have a vertical blind why do you need a curtain. Doors slamming, so noisy. Poor choice of food, quality gives little to the imagination
