Lovely beautiful hotel. Staying one night in my own, in a double classic lake view room. The room is very cosy with tv, tea & coffee making facilities. I have a lovely outside area too. The bathroom is bigger than usual and I have no complaints about the room. I was welcomed at reception and all the staff are friendly and polite. Breakfast is included with the room, which I am looking forward to in the morning. Used the spa 6-8pm and made use of the 2 hours. The outside hot tub is fantastic. Wound definitely recommend.

Room Tip: There are no lifts in the hotel and there are lots of stairs. Not a problem though.

My wife and I recently took our family to The Beech hill Hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. We have visited on many previous occasions and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time once again. The staff at the hotel were superb at looking after us, a special thanks to Nicola for arranging everything and for the little 'extras' that helped us all celebrate. We dined in the restaurant on both nights and were well looked after and the food was excellent. Hope it won't be long before we return !.

Stayed in September, booked well in advance and advised then that I couldn't manage stairs easily so a room near a lift would be fine. We arrived, car park was below hotel with 45 steep steps to manage to Reception where I was exhausted and the Receptionist could see I was suffering terribly but the Room No. 40 was once again 15 steep steps down to it. Then, 15 steps up to the restaurant and 47 steep steps down to the swimming pool - NO LIFT - and I had not been advised of this. Had booked 3 nights and payment was taken but after 2 nights I was too exhausted and we had to leave. Receptionist, very nice lady, gave me the Owner and the Manager's names and I have written twice complaining about the treatment but no replies from anyone and they are never around when I telephone. Also, we booked B & B but breakfast was Continental only and if you wanted a spoonful of Scrambled Egg it cost £9.95 per person per day which is disgraceful and not worth it. A complete take on and not worth the money. I was exhausted having to manage so many stairs and not receiving any reply to my letters let along an apology or a gesture of payment for the extra night not taken is just DISGUSTING. Don't stay at this hotel even though the views of Lake Windermere are lovely if you have trouble walking up and down stairs as I do. The food wasn't that good either and overpriced. The car parking on the ground floor level was for the Owner and Manager's cars and an electric charging point, the remaining parking was right down below by the Lake and just too far me to walk up to Reception if, like me, you are 82 years old and walk with a stick. A VERY VERY disappointed customer especially as I was celebrating my birthday in the Lake District.

Another lovely stay at the Beech Hill. Have been coming here for over 10 years now and while I agree with some reviews that some parts are dated, in truth it's fine, it's an old hotel and part of the charm. Things have changed recently in that spa facilities and cooked breakfast are now classed as extras but that is explained fully on the website and when speaking on the phone and I've compared prices to the last time we stayed 2 years ago and the overall price isn't that much different. The evening meal in the restaurant is always exceptional although we noticed a few cutbacks. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres used to be a nice touch but are now gone and choice of main meals was a little less varied than normal but overall still a lovely meal and capped off a nice stay. As for the rooms, we usually choose a Select Plus room and they are fine, we have tried cheaper rooms in the past but I agree they are dated. Reception staff polite and courteous and happily sorted out a query with our bill. (ref BB2109277293291)

I booked a 2 night winter spa break for myself and my daughter which included a spa treatment and a 2 hour pass into the spa pool. The pool area and jacuzzi were beautiful, the staff in the spa were excellent as were our treatments. However as other reviewers have commented, the room was certainly not shown on the website, it was very dated and the beds weren’t comfortable at all, mattress was either old and worn or very poor quality as were the pillows so we hardly slept the 2 nights we were there. The floorboards above were very noisy and creeky. The in house tea/coffee facilities, there were 2 of us and one pkt of biscuits and one sachet of hot chocolate, nothing was replenished the 2nd day. Food- The stay included a continental breakfast which was great, lots of choice and as much as you want, plenty of coffee and tea. We also ate in the restaurant both evenings and the food was very nice although expensive, but we enjoyed it. We have no complaints about the restaurant staff they were very nice and very helpful. Taking all the above into consideration due to lack of sleep & the poor quality of the room it’s not worth what is charged. One big plus is the views from this hotel are stunning whatever the weather.
