Nice hotel, conveniently place for Windermere … food was delicious and plentiful …. ALL the staff were friendly and helpful …. I did enjoy having the pool to myself ( we were there midweek ) it was warm and clean [ unfortunately the sauna was being repaired, or I would have enjoyed that as well 😁 ] We stayed in one of the ‘satellite rooms’ as opposed to the main hotel. The room was warm and cozy, and very comfortable. The grounds were nice for an early morning stroll, however a couple of the mornings were wet and windy… but I can’t hold that against the hotel 🤪. All in all a pleasant stay. … Would I recommend this hotel ?? Yes, and the next time we’re down that way …. We’ll be staying there again.
Had a lovely stay here. Room clean & tidy, staff where friendly & helpful. When we needed fresh towels etc staff were quick to respond. The swimming pool was great, though quite small. Breakfast was a good selection of cereal, fruit, yoghurts, toast and croissants, there was also hot buffet with bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, hash browns, beans. We ate one dinner here during our stay, it was ok but nothing to be excited about. The hotel is a one mile walk from the centre of Windermere, uphill on the way there. It took us about half hour to walk which was alright when the weather was good. All in all, a little run down but a good base for exploring the area.
We chose this hotel for both of our birthdays and wedding anniversary in the same week. We had room 30 in the beautiful grounds with our own private garden area. It would have been helpful if we had been told that the patio doors have no key, but my husband worked it out by unlocking the 2 catches. The English breakfast is plentiful, but with little choice sadly. I personally would have preferred some ham and cheeses etc. We stayed for 5 nights and the dinner menu is small. We ate there twice and then ate elsewhere, as it get's too repetitive. There was an issue with one particular member of staff, but this has been sorted by a telephone call. We will return
We’ve just had a two nights stay here, 4 rooms, one single, one double, one twin and a family room. The single room was on the top floor and the lift only went up one floor so was a bit of a nightmare for my father who has asthma to climb the stairs, hotel was fully booked so couldn’t move to another room, they did say if one became available they would move him but it was my own fault for not phoning a head. The twin room was made up as a double but rectified immediately. The Door handle came off my dads room but again was fixed immediately. Rooms are well equipped with everything you need. We had a wet room bathroom which did have a drainage smell occasionally but wasn’t really an issue. We also had a lovely little balcony which was a bonus. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool to use. Two very nice cosy lounge areas to chill and have a drink in. I was concerned after reading some negative reviews but we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is set in lovely grounds, Location is great, free parking, dog friendly for those who want to take dogs. Yes it could do with a little modernisation in some areas but it is an old Manor House and full of character. The staff work extremely hard, Andrew is doing all jobs, reception, handy man and nothing was too much trouble, Vicky was very pleasant and friendly but Alan was a star, he looked after our group making sure we all had what we wanted, helpful, chatty and just doesn’t stop, a real asset to the hotel although he is off to work in a sister hotel and I’m sure he’ll be missed at this one. We wish him luck in Blackpool. So overall we had a very pleasant stay.…
Stayed just the 1 night with 3 friends and the hotel on a whole was decent and worth the price. Rooms were clean and facilities were fine. Also, the lady on reception was amazing and really went out of her way to make us feel welcome. However… Our issues began when we booked for dinner in the evening and upon going to order our food the waiter, Alan, very abruptly told us that we couldn’t order food for another hour because “chef” had too many checks on. (There was five tables in). Alan’s whole demeanour was awful towards us and he brushed us off which made us feel unwelcome. Another guest in the dining area even commented to us about how rudely he spoke to us. The lady on reception did try to rectify this for us which we appreciated but sadly Alan had quite frankly left a bitter taste in our mouths and we dined elsewhere. The management should definitely look into and review his customer service skills.…
