Absolutely not worth staying in this place. Yes, very close to the zoo, but that is the ONLY positive. Initial impression was poor when the bathroom in our £134 a night (!!!) room couldn’t be opened due to a broken handle - query why housekeeping apparently had not noticed this …? The very over priced bar was expected but the response when we asked staff to book us a taxi to a local pub was not - ‘we don’t do concierge’ … even staff at the most basic travelodge would be willing to call you a cab! At one point we watched as a dog p***ed on the floor, but the highlight was what can only be described as a private function for coked up hookers and their f**kboy friends who took over the lounge leading staff to decide that they wouldn’t serve any actual hotel guests unless they’d set up a charge account. Needless to say we left the bar, wrote this crappy review and WILL NOT be back. Very disappointing.

Just spent 2 nights here and have had a good time the location is great. The staff are mainly good but special mention to Gabby and Nathan who have gone above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our stay. The breakfast was nice but the only thing that let's this place down is housekeeping they really need this addressing because I can over look a dated hotel but cleanliness is something that is a must in a hotel and sadly this is letting the place down.

My partner and I had both been here on seperate occasions few years back now and we always said how it was lovely place to stay. After our visit at the weekend we won’t be going back.... The corridor that leads to the rooms, smelt bad of dog urine you could see the patches on the carpet. Room was okay, wouldn’t say it’s worth £85. Needs some TLC and decorating. The meal in the evening was extremely overpriced £67 for 2 burgers, an extra portion of friends, a pint of lager and coke! Food and service both poor. Some staff were really lovely and attentive, others seemed like they didn’t want to be there and did the bare minimum. When this was raised with the manager at reception, I heard the manager say to the other manager they wouldn’t do a discount because we paid a discounted rate of £85 for the room?? Just because we had a lower rated room does that mean we are entitled to lower rate of service and food? I wasn’t asking for discount or causing a fuss , it was my honest feedback, but we won’t back until we hear of improvements. Looks like a lot of people are having the same experiences as us, which is such a shame as 4 years ago , the place was fantastic.

Lovely hotel full of character, we were in a block to ourselves knowingly we would be back from wedding at different times they had put a couple in one of the rooms so they complained about the noise etc, tough 😊, as for the room it was very clean except we found a child’s fidget toys in one of the drawers so clearly hadn’t been checked. There was exposed wires in the bathroom from a faulty light fitting, its a bonus having the the choice of a bath and shower which is lovely. Bed was extremely comfortable and very clean, shame the tv wasn’t working though. Breakfast was a nice choice continental snd a lovely full English although my hubby had two breakfasts as aren’t filling but they didn’t complain which was nice. Lovely surroundings of woodland half expecting a giraffe to visit, 😊 all in all will definitely come back but not buy drinks at bar as very expensive. Nice hotel 🏨

· We were not notified pre arrival or during check-in that the TV satellite was out, our stay was for a relaxing evening in after travel that day. On the website it stated that room services was available, but upon arrival we were told they didnt provide room service, because we travelled with a small dog we were unable to use the restaurant, bar food was available but the choice was very poor and expensive,so we then had to travel further for food. The bed was not comfortable there was a sizeable gap between end of mattress and bed frame and the pillows fell between the gap, mattress was old and dated and didn't get much sleep. In the bathroom there were issues with the sink, the plug was rusted and there was collection of dirty water and other buildup, we did take pictures prior to checking out also. There was also a leak coming from the top of the toilet near flush handle. We feel that the staff could have been friendlier, there was an apology for the TV but upon checking out the male suited manager just grabbed the key and didn't acknowledge us. We are greatly frustrated after a long trip and paying £104 for the night and £10 for the dog to have all these issues and feel it was a wasted trip and money down the drain. One of us has had multiple medical issues over the last few years and this was our first trip away together as a couple. We were very much looking forward to our trip but these problems ruined our break away. We had done a lot of research to find what we required and it was very disappointing that the website was not a true picture of what we expected.
